Chapter 248: Zhao Liang
Zhao Xin was truly meticulous and knew exactly the ripe time to reveal Zhao Kai’s presence to him.
With many guests sending many precious gifts to him, his mood peaked high.
He was clearly blissful, so when Zhao Xin brought up this uncomfortable topic, what more could Zhao Gaofu do in response?
Reprimand her?
That he could not bear to do, considering she had been managing the company and the party well.
Reject her?
That was also impossible, given the guests lining up to give him a birthday present could hear Zhao Xin’s words.
She did not lower her tone but spoke in a normal tone. The further people in the line might not be able to hear it well, but it was definitely not true for those in front of the lines.
Unless they were deaf, it was impossible for them to not hear it.
Thus, Zhao Gaofu called Zhao Xin a naughty girl because she cornered him on his birthday.
"Sigh, do whatever you want." Zhao Gaofu relented and decided to agree to her arrangement. Rarely had she ever asked for anything, so it would be rude of him to not indulge her a little.
"Hehe, thank you, grandfather." Zhao Xin smiled brightly, clearly pleased with the response.
Shortly after Zhao Xin left to call for Zhao Kai over, Zhao Ming and Zhao Heng took this chance to present their gifts to their grandfather.
"Grandfather, I wish you to continue to be healthy and lead the Zhao Family to prosperity." Zhao Ming said, opening a valuable jade pendant.
Upon seeing the jade pendant, Zhao Gaofu merely nodded without giving a comment. His previous smile also vanished.
Zhao Ming was inwardly displeased, but he also knew there was nothing he could do about it. Their grandfather had always been partial toward Zhao Xin whereas, for them, they were practically non-existent.
On the other hand, Zhao Heng didn’t bother with the flowery blessing and revealed an ancient painting. "Grandfather is always working hard for the Zhao Family, so may this painting of a dragon coil in front of you."
"..."
Silence, the atmosphere turned completely silent because of Zhao Heng’s statement.
Dragon coiling in front of Zhao Gaofu?
The statement might be fine if used by regular people, but for people of their stature, Zhao Heng’s statement was no different than saying Zhao Gaofu suppressed everyone here.
So what if you’re a dragon?
In front of Zhao Gaofu, you better kneel and coil before him.
That was Zhao Heng’s declaration to the rest of the guests!
"Get out!" Zhao Gaofu roared, slamming his palm on the armrest of his chair. Stay connected with NovelBin.Côm
"Sigh, grandfather is displeased with my gift. What a shame." Zhao Heng seemed nonchalant by the furious response.
Instead, he rolled the painting back up and tossed it aside. "I wonder if my dear little half-brother could provide a gift suitable for grandfather. We legitimate grandchildren are just not good enough."
After giving his final statement, Zhao Heng exited the venue, prompting the other guests to be surprised by his audacity.
Not to mention the guests, even Zhao Ming was dumbfounded by his little brother’s declaration.
’Did he fuck a woman so hard that his brain fried up?’ He thought, feeling that Zhao Heng had just destroyed his future.
Sure, they might have been removed from the shareholders meeting by Zhao Xin, but they were still in the company. So long as they got their grandfather’s approval, they could easily return to the shareholders meeting.
However, Zhao Heng had effectively thrown away that glimpse of opportunity as well.
And all that for what?
To irk their grandfather into being even more displeased with Zhao Kai?
While this was happening, Xu Feng, who had been paying attention in their direction all along, squinted his eyes slightly.
’Zhao Heng, second son of Zhao Liang. A womanizer and playboy, but somehow managed to become the guild leader of Heretics. This person is not simple.’ Xu Feng thought, taking a sip of his wine.
Heretics had not appeared in the Divine World yet, but during its appearance, its rise was tremendously fast. Within a few weeks after its establishment, it was already capable of rivaling multiple veteran first-rate guilds.
Such a feat was not possible unless it was backed by many large corporations.
What was surprising was that the guild leader was Zhao Heng, someone who had been disowned by the Zhao Family. Nobody had expected Zhao Heng to be able to make a comeback.
That was the memory he recalled, considering Zhao Heng was someone from the Zhao Family and he was still in the dark regarding Zhao Kai’s fate.
While Xu Feng was wondering what was going on, Zhao Xin and Zhao Kai frowned slightly upon seeing a newcomer.
The newcomer seemed like a middle-aged man, dressed quite luxuriously with a bearded chin on his face. However, the most surprising part was that the outrageous Zhao Heng from earlier started to tremble slightly as he bowed toward that man.
"F-Father," Zhao Heng greeted.
Zhao Heng’s father, Zhao Liang who happened to arrive at the party at this time, held a solemn expression at his second son.
"Was this how you interact with your grandfather huh?" Zhao Liang questioned, his tone fierce.
Zhao Heng sweated nervously and shook his head. "N-No, father…"
"Hmph, I’ll reprimand you later." Zhao Liang said, clearly unwilling to lecture his son in public.
After dismissing his second son, he turned his attention to Zhao Xin and Zhao Kai.
"Ahh, my dearest daughter. You wouldn’t be mad that I arrived late, right?" Zhao Liang walked toward her and asked, his smile brightened as he extended his arms, seemingly trying to hug her.
"You should greet grandfather first." Zhao Xin subtly took a step back and suggested.
Unfazed by the action, Zhao Liang retracted his arms and nodded.
"You’re right. I should greet Father first." He responded, not even paying attention to Zhao Kai whatsoever.
His action might be straightforward and trivial, but it depicted a great picture to the guests overall. He did not acknowledge Zhao Kai at all.
As for Xu Feng, his lips slowly curled upward, smirking. ’So it’s him huh.’
