Chapter 26 Wave Town
Around Vera City, there are many small towns. Some are towns that are peaceful because of their affluent residents, but there are some that are actually poor, especially those where there are lots of immigrants.
Amanda drives her car to one of those poor towns, Wave. It is beside the north sea, has a small harbor which is used by fishermen to anchor their boats.
Arthur thought that this town was completely unstructured. Apart from the road having lots of potholes, the sidewalks are also small. The number of motorcycle here is also very high so the streets seem even more chaotic.
A Lamborghini is as flashy as a diamond here. Arthur who was in it felt many gazes with malicious intent.
He couldn't help but glance at Amanda, finding her very calm. This was definitely not her first time coming here and it didn't seem like she had any bad experiences.
"There is a branch office of my company here, let's go there first," said Amanda.
"So you don't know the place either?" asked Arthur.
"They're always on the move, this week just happened to be in this town. I haven't even communicated with them, so how do I know the location of their base?"
After saying that, she turned her car into the courtyard of a four story building, including the tallest in this small town.
The building was also in a quiet condition, the employees had the day off because today was Sunday, but there were two security guards, each a Middle Eastern man who was maybe almost 50 years old.
They were shocked and confused to see a Black Lamborghini suddenly stop there. In a hurry, they approached the Lamborghini.
Amanda got off first than Arthur, she took a deep breath, stretched her body with a smile.
"Boss!" The two men still recognized Amanda even though it was the first time seeing her in person.
Amanda stared at them, not knowing whether to laugh or cry because her security was two old men. However, she didn't look like she wanted to comment on that.
She took out a 100 Euro, handed it to one of them.
"I'm waiting for someone here, please buy some cold coffee" she said before taking a step into the building.
Arthur who had gotten out of the car followed behind her, occasionally looking around.
Inside the building's lobby, there was a pair of large sofas with a table in the middle, Amanda sat down on the sofa and immediately lay down. Then, she took out her cell phone, made a call to someone.
Even though she didn't turn on the speaker, Arthur could still hear the sound on the phone.
"Oh my dear Amanda, it's not often you call me, is there anything you need?"
"Stop that bullshit, Erick, you think you deserve me."
"Why am I not deserve? I am handsome enough to compete with your beauty."
"You are ugly in my eyes."
"Tsk! Tsk! You still haven't changed but I'm sure you will in the future. After all, you need a man in the end."
"You should look in the mirror, among the men chasing after me, you're not even in the top ten."
The voice on the phone fell silent because of Amanda's last words. It seemed that the man had taken a mental blow.
Meanwhile, Amanda continued "I want to buy some wild tigers from you, you have them right?"
"Oh?" The man finally spoke again, looking surprised.
"Where are you now?" he asked.
"At the Wave Town Branch Office," Amanda answered.
"Alright, I'll send someone to pick you up!"
The two office security guards finally returned, carrying a plastic bag.
"Here boss," said the one holding the plastic bag.
Amanda responded with a gesture to tell them to leave.
Once they were gone Arthur asked "what background is that man?"
Not that he was curious about him, he just wanted to know what kind of piwer5 was needed to have the audacity to sell protected wild animals on a continent where at least for now, had the best legal system. Maybe there are many shortcomings, but those who know the conditions in other countries, especially developing countries, must think that Europe is like a different world.
Amanda sat up again, took a cold cup of coffee, drank it before answering Arthur's question. "Son of a Two Star General."
She stared into Arthur's eyes as she said that, waiting for his reaction which unfortunately got none.
Actually he was thinking. All European militaries are led by a Five Star General, then there are three Four Star Generals, each leading the Army, Navy and Air Forces. Below them, were Three Star Generals who were mostly division leaders, guarding an area spanning several States. They are part of a great power that most people dare not offend.
As for a Two Star General, that was still an affordable force, generally leading the military in a State. Maybe a position equivalent to Deputy Governor.
"I suggest you act polite in front of the man," Amanda added while Arthur was in thought.
This time, Arthur responded with a disdainful smile. "A General's Son who does illegal business might be some good-for-nothing, being polite to him is no different than kissing his ass."
"Tsk!" Amanda almost laughed at his words. In the end, she actually laughed. "It seems that your new personality is irreversible, but you are right, that man is just lucky to have a father who is a General or he has been in prison for a long time," she said.
"Let's drink!" After that, she suddenly took out another coffee cup, placing it in front of Arthur. Looks like she's not annoyed with him anymore.
Arthur casually took the cup, meeting her eyes before drinking the coffee.
"By the way, have you chosen which University you are going to attend?" Amanda started the chat. Because the topic is about the University, it feels purer, portraying Amanda as a mature woman and Arthur as a high school student.
Arthur shook his head, he wasn't sure about this. Exams, University, work after graduating from University, these things were no longer in his head. He goes to school too just to go with the flow of modern life.
