Chapter 39 Eat
Amanda opened her mouth at Arthur's words, looking like she was recalling the fairy tales she often heard as a child.
Then, she took another breath. Once, twice, three times, four times. Only after that did she speak. "Unexpected, totally unexpected!"
She held her lips, looking like she was about to bite her fingers while her eyes were still fixed on Arthur's figure.
"You don't feel devastated seeing this unwanted reality do you?" he said with the aim of stopping her gaze.
A beggar on the street may wish for a change in the world, such as the appearance of a mysterious power so that there is a greater chance for them to change their destiny. But of course, those already at the top of society didn't want that to happen. They would rather stay in a wheelchair than fly in the sky but with several tigers ready to pounce on them from below. The thing is, there's a chance the tigers grew wings.
"Emhmmmah..." Amanda's mouth made a sound which was the result of a mixture of clearing her throat and laughing.
"This is of course terrible, when I read apocalypse novels, I often imagine some insignificant people jumping into my office then displaying superhuman strength and forcing me to submit to them." She said.
Arthur wasn't sure why she was saying that, so he waited for her to continue.
Her lips pressed together for a moment and she let go of her hair tie so that the hair that was previously in a ponytail flowed down, giving her figure a more mature look.
"I don't like this feeling, it feels like I'm struggling to do something and at the same time knowing that there are a group of people who see my struggle as meaningless, like looking at the lives of monkeys in the forest." She smiled wryly, but a moment later, her smile suddenly brightened. "So Arthur, you will definitely share the methods with me, right? Yeah, I know that, otherwise there's no way you'd show me this."
Hearing her words, Arthur shook his head with a low laugh.
"You really are just the grown-up version of your sister," he said. He turned around and took steps to return to the mansion.
At the same time, he added, "give me a piece of paper, I'll give you a spell that suits you," Arthur replied.
"Uh, wait!" Amanda hastily chased after him. Her two tigresses followed her, stroking her leg as she walked.
"Why not send it straight to my head?" Amanda asked hesitantly.
She had obviously guessed that Arthur was sending information to the beasts' heads because earlier he had said he would teach them a few things.
However, this is not something that needs explaining.
"You'll find out later," Arthur replied. "By the way, I'm really hungry right now, your mansion has food, right?"
Amanda, "..."
___
Actually, Joe's daughter, Aunt Maya, and her two daughters, Lisa and Lilly had already prepared food because Amanda had told them beforehand that she was coming today.
Entering the mansion from behind, Arthur immediately found a table full of very warm dishes.
Grilled meat, fried chicken, various vegetables, Arthur found many kinds of food. Even the beasts that followed into the mansion looked hungry.
Of course, their presence frightened the middle-aged woman and her two daughters so much that they ran from the dining room.
"There should still be quite a lot of meat." Amanda stared into the kitchen, more specifically at the large refrigerator there.
However, before she could take a step, Arthur stopped her. He said, "let them take it for themselves."
"Eh." Amanda was a little confused and became even more confused as she watched the animals go into the kitchen.
"Now I see, you used magic to tame them," she said. "Are you able to give them some sort of order through your powers?"
"Yeah! Once you have magic power, you can do it too," Arthur replied.
Right after that, the animals opened the refrigerator. There was certainly enough meat there, maybe not enough to fill them up, but at least they wouldn't go hungry.
Carefully, they took the meat out of the refrigerator, without dropping anything else, a sight that was quite amusing.
Amanda sighed at that.
"Anyway, I'll get the paper upstairs, you eat first," she said. She knew that she would have to make her own move since aunt Maya and her two daughters definitely didn't want to come here anymore, she needed to give them a simple explanation first.
Arthur nodded and he sat down on one of the chairs at the dining table.
As Amanda stepped away, he sent that same spiritual bird into her body. After that, he started eating.
At first he thought it would take Amanda a long time considering how large the mansion was, but she was back much quicker. And what she brought was not a piece of paper, but a thick book that should have been used to record financial reports.
She was a bit surprised when she came back because the dishes on the dining table had reduced a lot. It made her glance at the animals in the kitchen, suspicious that they were taking the food off the table, but it didn't look like that.
Recalling that Arthur had eaten five eggs for breakfast this morning, she finally understood why.
"Yeah, eat your fill first," she said, placing the book in an empty area of the table.
She then sat across from Arthur, picking up a knife and fork.
"Arthur." She called out to him after she sat down.
Arthur just glanced at her, waiting for her to speak.
"It seems I can't think of you as a student anymore." She stared at his young face with an expression as if she wanted to change that face to make it look more mature.
"That's not quite right, but it's up to you," Arthur replied.
"Oh, if you prefer to be considered a student?" She asked, clearly misunderstanding Arthur's meaning.
Usually, Arthur was always seen as a God. Even though he didn't have that power here, the essence of that power was still within him. Therefore, the most appropriate way of looking at Arthur would be the way you would look at a God.
However, Arthur also didn't care about that because he lived in a different world, so he didn't answer, just continued to eat.
"Right, last night, we talked about business, what exactly is that business?" Amanda asked, she no longer hesitated, now sure it was something that must be profitable.
