Chapter 105 Prey
In total, there were only 50 warriors of the Silverheart Dwarves left in the cavern village. The remaining 300 Silverheart Dwarves were either workers, miners, blacksmiths, carpenters, or other types of Artisans.
They were supposed to construct the first settlement for their race and earn a vast fortune in every possible way. That was also why there weren't any children either.
That was something the three girls were quite relieved about. Even Olivia couldn't help but sigh in relief as they could not spot even a single Dwarven child when they spied into the cavern system the Silverheart Dwarves used.
With Felicia's Soultrait, it was no problem to find out that two groups of ten Silverheart Dwarves each were currently hunting outside the cave. She had spent roughly 10 Arcanium to find out their rough position and numbers. This was quite helpful for Liam, who took a look at the infrastructure of the cavern village before he and the girls left it once again.
To make sure that nothing would happen, the two hunting groups had to be removed first.
"I don't mind you guys not participating in the fight, but if you avoid reality, it won't be helpful for your future in any way," Liam said as they paved their way through the dense forest of the Jula Valley. They followed the closest hunting group that was close to a kilometer away from the entrance of the cavern village.
The distance was enough to make sure that no one from the village would hear the commotion they were bound to create.
"Just…give us more time…" Jennie mumbled uncertainly in response to Liam's comment. She was facing the biggest mid-life crisis among the three girls and had a hard time coping with the things that were about to happen. Everything was becoming too much for her… If she couldn't even fight the Lesser Demons that looked extremely evil, how was she supposed to kill Dwarves and other intelligent races?
Even hunting monsters was not easy for Jennie, and she knew that they would kill her if she wouldn't kill them first.
Liam couldn't understand Jennie, but that was not necessary in the first place. It was good enough as long as Jennie survived and found treasures for him. There was no need for her to do more than that.
"I know," Olivia simply shrugged, grasping the black steel longsword tightly. Just like Felicia and Jennie, she had yet to upgrade her weapon. Liam was not too sure what the girls were doing with their Arcanium, but he hoped that they would use their Arcanium wisely. That way, he would have less trouble as well.
"They're coming toward us!" Felicia suddenly exclaimed, her eyes widening. Liam used his claws to climb up a tree and he looked in the direction Felicia pointed at with his Devil's Eyes. More than a hundred meters away from them and behind dozens of trees and bushes, a bunch of shimmering metal helmets entered his sight.
They made their way through the forest while carrying something. Liam couldn't clearly see what they were carrying but he presumed it to be the Silverheart Dwarven's prey.
He jumped to the ground, and motioned the girls to be quiet and to hide in the bushes nearby.
"Their path leads them to us. This trail is the easiest to take with their bulky armor sets and the heavy weapons they carry around. Hide there, and keep your voices down if you don't want to be discovered.
If you're willing to join the battle, attack after I initiated the first attack. Don't attack before me!"
Liam gave out a few orders before sending the girls into the bushes. Meanwhile, he chose a different tree to climb up now. The branches of the tree he chose were thicker, giving him a better grip and there were many branches with large leaves, covering most of his body. If he stayed still in his black clothes, he could be considered as a part of the tree, camouflaging himself perfectly.
The Silverheart Dwarves wouldn't have an easy time discovering him and by the time they noticed him it would be too late.
A few minutes passed without anything happening. Liam, however, didn't move an inch. His eyes were closed and his Soultrait deactivated to reduce his circulation of Arcane Power as much as possible. After all, the slightest fluctuations would give them away if even one of the Silverheart Dwarven Warriors would have been very perceptive.
Fortunately, that was not the case, at all. They found their way through the forest trail ten minutes later. Their moves were slow and it looked like some of them had been wounded quite seriously.
But what Liam hadn't expected to encounter was to find out that the Silverheart Dwarven Warriors had been preying on the humans…female Natives to be precise!
Only two out of ten Silverheart Dwarves didn't have a female Native thrown over their shoulders. The women had ragged and dirtied clothes, their hair was disheveled, their feet and arm tied together and fat drops of tears trickled down their cheeks, wetting the cloth that had been shoved into their mouth to gag them.
The women were still struggling to escape. They were giving their all to escape but were firmly held by the Silverheart Dwarves that were joyously joking with each other in their deep voices.
Because the Silverheart Dwarves were joking in the Dwarven tongue, Jennie, Felicia, and Olivia weren't able to understand what they said, but they could clearly see that some of the Dwarves had begun to fondle the plump bottoms of the women they had captured.
Enraged, Felicia and Olivia charged out of the bushes, causing Liam to groan in frustration, just for Jennie to follow suit as well. They pointed their weapons at the Dwarf in the front with a clear intention to kill.
"Let go of these girls and we may give you a painless death!" Olivia ordered, circulating Arcane Power through her longsword.
"There are even more beauties? Looks like we made a great first catch!" The Silverheart Dwarf standing in front of everyone else laughed, his eyes glowing in desire as he looked at Olivia.
"This one is a true beauty. I will take her!" He declared.
That Dwarf was probably the leader of this small hunting group.
The other Silverheart Dwarves laughed as well, not feeling any threat coming from Felicia and Olivia, let alone Jennie, who was trembling like a leaf caught in a thunderstorm.
"I'm sorry, but these girls belong to me," Liam announced all of a sudden from above, pulling the attention to the branches above them as he jumped down into their midst, his eyes gleaming dangerously.
":..and so does your head!"
