Second Life: Welcome to Gaia

Chapter 19: New Weapon

Chapter 19: New Weapon

The forest was different from before, the full moon permitted him to see the sparsed trees and the grass, making it easier for him to find his way back to the village. On the other side of the portal, if he got close enough, even with that dark fog, he could see the footprint on the ground for some reason, maybe some special effect of that place. Now that he thought about it, there was no moon in there but the sky was full of stars and he could see the camp as if he was using some kind of night vision glasses.

Ye Yan leads everyone to the village, which is deserted because of the late hour. Some of the NPCs thanked him again and went to look for an inn, and the two tigermen looked at him like they want to say something but it was too difficult for them to do so. They were like a fusion between man and tiger, they had the body structure of a human but were totally covered by thick fur, had sharp claws, a long tail, and a feline face with two triangular ears.

"We are owning you now, so if one day you go to the Tullana's Region, just look for us there and we will help in whatever you may need." They said their piece and left as if they don't want to be there a second longer.

Only the village residents were left. And Ye Yan tried to think about which of the two children was the drunkard's son. Luckily it didn't take long for him to find out because one of them was kidnapped alone while the other was with his mother.

"I had met a man before that asked me to look for his family and for what he said I think he was referring to you two. He asked me to look for him in that tavern when I come back, so can you two wait for me while I will go there and fetch him?" He asked the mother and son before they went home like the rest.

"Are you sure that person is my husband? It's so strange because he doesn't drink alcoholic beverages, so why he would wait for you in a tavern?" The woman looked really confused and Ye Yan thought if this NPC is really that drunkard's wife, she is in for a big surprise.

Ye Yan went to the tavern. It's an old wooden building with a hanging advertisement flag containing a very big "wine" character written on it. The interior has some sparsed tables and a counter on the corner, with few people inside drinking, eating, or gambling. Everything was surprisingly clean and quiet, maybe because they knew about the devils coming tonight.

He looked around and tried to find the drunkard that, even now, he still has to know the name. Ye Yan was in a rush for time now, because he only has 50 minutes of in-game time remaining before he will be forced to disconnect. He spotted him in a corner staring at a jug of wine, and thankfully not drinking, or it would be difficult to take him to his family.

"I came to get you. Let's go, your family is waiting for you outside." Ye Yan didn't have time to waste now.

"They... Are they really alive?" The drunkard couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"Yes. Let's go, now!" He doesn't have the patience to speak with him with so little time remaining.

"Hahahah" He was very happy to know his family was alive, but all of a sudden his expression changed as if he were in pain. "What can I do now? If my wife sees me like this... she... she will use the broom on me! Please, save me if she tries to hit me with some makeshift weapon!" He pleaded Ye Yan, almost crying thinking about the unavoidable consequence of his acts.

He didn't expect such a reaction from this NPC, but remembering how his own mother used the broom to hit him the first (and only) time that he had gone home drunk, he could understand his plight very well.

"I will protect you when you two meet. Now, let's go!" Ye Yan leads him to where he left the woman and child while the drunkard (that is currently sober now) followed him like he was going to a funeral.

When they arrived where he left the two, Ye Yan confirmed that they were the wife and son of the drunkard for the way they were looking at it other. He looked like a deer that has been caught by a hunter and the woman gave him a very beautiful smile that could melt the heart of anyone that sees it, but for some reason, it made him got goosebumps all over his body.

"So while we were in the hands of those devils, you were drinking with your friends?" She said it with a sweet smile but emanating an aura of a psychopath getting ready to kill.

"Now that you are reunited, I need to go back to City Ji. So..." Ye Yan is rushing against the time now, he needs to complete his quest and disconnect before the system does it for him. And he wants his reward before it or he might be without any if it takes too long.

"Thank you for bringing them back. Here, it is an heirloom passed down to me from a powerful scholar ancestor. I could never use it, but you may bring the true potential of this weapon. And nothing is more precious than my adorable wife and good soon to me." He said it full of meaning, in a way that says "You see, I'm even given an important item as a reward for him bring you back, so you need to take it easy on me.
