Chapter 194: Kieran
Chapter 194: Kieran
*Pfui!* *Pfui!*
All the warriors could see a bolt of lightning that dashed around.
Everywhere it went, heads will roll and bloods will flow, making it the original blue color of the bolt get stained by red substance of humans.
After a few more seconds, the bolt got significantly slower. Its blue halo dimmed in the forest and before the remaining warriors could blink, the bolt materialized into a young man wearing the same cloak as the female bounty hunter.
It was Jake, who had decided to take the warriors by surprise.
'It worked,' smiled Jake.
To others, the curve on his face accompanied by the blood on his body gave them the image of a crazy maniac.
'[Lightning Charge],' thought Jake.
It was a technique on the first path of [Lightning Elemental Path]. Being an important technique for those walking the path, it had been in his array of items stolen from the Aztec Library.
This was Jake's first time of executing the technique. He had just learnt it and know was using it!
Nonetheless, it was due to his attainment on the path that Jake could effortlessly master the technique.
The technique in itself was simply imbue the power of lightning into the user body. However, the catch was that the user has to be able to safely conduct the lightning energy.
Once the user goes past his limit, he would be turn to charcoal.
That was why Jake abstained from learning the technique all this while. Even now, he could feel the weariness of his skin and his torn muscle.
Looking at the bloody sword on his hand, Jake sighed, 'That should be enough.'
He had already killed half of the group and now, the rest was left to his partner.
*Shui!* *Shui!*
True to their unspoken agreement, Kaleyx manifested her unique dark-silver daggers and flinged it the remaining warriors.
Having being focused on Jake, it came as no surprise that the rain of daggers embedded themselves in the chest of the remaining warriors.
Even the brave warrior, who thought himself stronger than the duo was not spared from this lethal attack.
Slowly, they bled out, fell to their knees and died.
On this very ground, the blood of about twenty-something warriors flowed abundantly, giving their lifeforce back to sweet mother nature.
"Is it over?" Kaleyx asked Jake.
This was their plan all along.
For people like Kaleyx and Jake, only similar people could threaten them.
Still yet, they couldn't take the normal warriors lightly. So, the two of them agreed to burst through the warriors, they used their loudest and most destructive attack to slay apart their enemies.
Now, their energy reserve was halfly drained and they panted as they scaveneged through the spoils of their battle.
"No, it is not," sighed Jake.
"What do you mean?" eyed Kaleyx.
Letting out a steamy breath of air, Jake healed the burnt part of his body, "If I'm right, there was a main instigator of this attack."
He made sure to refill his energy core as he slowly spoke, taking minutes just to say a word, "Open..your...senses."
His words prompted Kaleyx to free herself.
A glimmer coursed through her eyes as she released herself to the world.
As she closed her eyes, she received the image of her surrounding. Her senses captured every dust, every leaf, every tree, every plant in the vicinity.
It also captured a mudded figure hidding behind a tree.
"So, that was it?" smiled Kaleyx as she opened her eyes.
Having not spent much [Elemental Spirit Essence], her energy reserve had already been long refilled and she teased the figure behind one of the trees, "Aren't you gonna come out now?"
Follwoing her words, a charming young man, about thirty years of age, with a passionless set of eyes walked out to their sight.
Examining him, Jake sighed as he noticed it was the same man he noticed before, the one with the strange aura.
Kaleyx scrutinized him, "Who are you?"
Her senses told her that the man was danger, pure danger.
"My name is Kieran Loft," introduced the man
Despite being found out, the man showed no signs of being on the edge. Instead, he had an experienced atmosphere around him, as if he was tired of everything.
"Loft. From the Loft house on the Loft Island. Interesting.." smiled Jake.
The Lofts was a rumored noble family that migrated from the central continent.
However, for all their prestige, they had nothing to show for it, no terrifying power to back up their heritage.
The only thing they had was an island which their predecessors claimed a long time ago.
However, their download regression changed when a certain man was born into the family, Kieran Loft.
A sad smile hung on Kieran's face as he confirmed, "Yes. I'm from the Loft House."
"Kieran Loft. The strongest man on the Loft Island. The man that singlle-handledly raised back his family," addressed Jake.
"I presume you were the one asking about for us, weren't you?" asked Kaleyx.
"Yes."
"And you are the one that instigated the useless warriors to fight us?"
"Yes."
"Why?" asked Kaleyx.
She knew the answer, but she just wanted to hear it from his mouth.
"The bounty." spoke Kieran.
His short blue hair danced in the air as he thought of how he got here.
The rumors about him were all true, but they failed to capture the amount of effort Kieran took to rejuvenate his family.
He had worked day and night, cultivated regardless of the time, all just to bring his family back to its rightful place.
Just when he thought he was successful, the zombie outbreak occured.
He found himself anxious for a survival path. His family had no money. He could only manage to send one or two family members to the escaping ships.
He had made his plan. He would secure the survival of the main family circle. He did just that.
He paid for all of them, except six people, including himself.
Coincidentally, it turned out that they was a bounty that had a reward of six seats, the exact number of six!
It was just what he desperately needed to secure the survival of his family.
After taking a last look at the beautiful sun, Kieran's energy burst out of his body as he went into a battle mode.
