Chapter 56: A New Day
Chapter 56: A New Day
(Author's Note: Hehehehehehe)
One might always wonder how they should start their day.
Should they start with a lazy mind?
Or should they go in hot?
How does one treat every new day?
With the same positivity or with an indifferent attitude?
While the author doesn't know the answer to that, he would give you a reference.
.....
A new day for Nico is like the start of a season.
It needed to begin great, and that's exactly what Nico did.
Following the daily rise of the sun, his bodily alarm woke him up as he felt the first ray of sunshine.
"What a wonderful day," he yawned separating himself from his bed.
Yesterday, he was knocked out by the King's aura, and quite frankly, he still felt sore from that, but.the show must go on!
Standing up from his bed, he yanked off his cover, leaving himself his underwear as he walked to the window side.
With a great smile on his face, Nico inhaled the fresh air of a new day.
After five minutes of gazing at his surrounding, he went to the bathroom to take his bath.
*Whoosh!*
Ten minutes, the door of the bathroom opened along with hazy steam and a fully dressed Nico.
"I feel refreshed," he commented as he combed his hair, which was cut short by his evident amateur hand, backward.
After making sure he was fully prepared, he walked out of the room with his leather backpack containing the resources he had prepared for the day.
*Knock!* *Knock!*
It didn't take long for Jake to arrive at the doorstep of the room opposite his. He knocked at the door with a special rhythm that could only be recognized by the person opposite the door.
The door opened and a tired voice was heard, "Is that you, Nico?"
"Yes. Were you expecting someone else?" teased Nico.
Nico entered the room and smiled at the messiest person he had ever known, his sister.
"No, I just didn't expect for you to come this early," replied Lola.
Despite her usual quiet nature, she was very lazy, especially when alone.
This could be seen from her appearance.
Sitting on a small chair near her bed, she hung her sleepy head on the top of the chair as she closed her eyes.
"Didn't we agree to meet up here in the morning?" smiled Nico.
"Idiot, our agreed time is an hour from now!" grunted the cranky Lola, as she scratched her untidy hair.
"Well, there's no time like the present," gingerly smiled Nico, in an attempt to appease his sister, who was clearly not a morning person.
"Don't worry about me. I will comfortably wait for you here. After all, this is not the first time seeing you in your nightgown," coaxed Nico.
He saw there was a candy bar sitting on a nearby stand. So, he stretched his hands to grab a sweet.
*Pa!*
A shoe thrown with an astounding force hit his face before Nico could even take the sweet.
"Hands off. It's mine!" a female voice, other than Lola, shouted at Nico.
Feeling wrong, Nico cried out, "You could have told me that before you attacked me!"
The owner of the voice was Jaya, the childhood friends of the twins. She was also the roommate of Lola.
Jaya sat comfortably on the shared king-size bed, covered in a long blanket, except that her roommate was not on the bed.
In fact, Nico knew that Jaya had banned Lola from sleeping on the bed, due to her weird sleeping habit.
It was cruel, but Nico dared not seek justice for his sister. Among the three of them, Jaya was the undisputed boss.
And this boss was currently reading a book!
"Hey, Jaya," greeted Nico.
He was replied by a nod from Jaya, who was too busy engrossed in her book.
Such behavior was not unfamiliar to Nico.
Having been with her almost all his life, he practically knew her from head to toe.
Jaya was a stubborn young lady, who doesn't talk when immersed in her books.
She was also disciplined which could be seen from her appearance. She had woken up early in the morning to take her bath and tidy herself.
From this, she was quite different from his weird sister.
"Hey!" shouted Lola, in an attempt to grab her brother's attention.
"What is it?" asked Nico with a perplexed face.
He thought, 'dealing with my sister is sure tiring. I prefer when she's as meek as a lamb.'
"Since we cannot waste time, how about I take my bath and we start our meeting?" offered Lola.
"Yes," begged Nico
Jaya interjected, "Please, go."
"Why are you rushing me?" pouted Lola.
"Because you look unsightly," sneered Jaya as shut down her roommate.
She could only say that to Lola. They were close enough to understand she meant it as a joke, and also as the truth.
Refusing to back down, Lola took the challenge, "Rich from you calling someone unsightly! Did you forget what happened yesterday?"
This time it was Jaya's turn to feel flustered, "For Heaven's sake! How many times have I told you that I was tired!"
"Ohh, what happened yesterday?" asked the interested Nico.
"Butt out, Ginger," blasted Jaya.
She was determined to not let Nico hear of it.
"Shut up, Nico," yelled Lola, who was just trying to copy Jaya.
Meanwhile, the target of the ladies' outburst was in tears.
He inwardly cried, 'Girls are just too difficult. One moment, they are friends. The other moment, they are enemies. Yet, they pour it all out on me.'
Raising a white flag, Jaya compromised, "Can we please forget about yesterday?"
"No way in hell! My memories of it are permanent," mocked Lola.
She began to spill the beans for her brother to hear, "I can still remember it perfectly. Yesterday, I was the only one that woke up in the night. I woke up due to a strange loud noise that I heard. And what was it?"
She continued, "An amazing sight. Very rare. The unsightly me saw our Miss.Untouchable, Jaya. She was snoring so loud that it was even uncomfortable to the ear."
Jaya lunged at Lola, trying to stop the girl, but the petite female squirmed her body out of Jaya's hold.
Having escaped, she gave the conclusion, "That was not all. Every time Jaya snored, it was accompanied by her farts!"
Hearing this, Nico was shaking. He tried to stop the laughter that coming from within.
Sadly, he couldn't, "Hahahahahaha!"
He was joined by Lola, "Hahahahaha!"
The twin rolled on the ground as laughed at Lola.
Each time they rolled, fumes of embarrassment and anger came out of Jaya's nose.
The intensity of the fumes kept increasing...and increasing until Jaya could not keep it contained anymore...
Like a falling egg, she broke, hysterically laughing, "hehehehehehe."
Like a vengeful hunter, she lunged at the twins and gave them the beatings of their lifetime.
...
Four minutes later.
Jaya clapped her hand, proud of her work.
She vented all of her anger on the twins....whose appearance was now updated with multiple bumps on their face.
She was more brutal to Nico. She gave him a discolored lip.
Nodding her head, she praised herself, 'Now, he won't be able to flash his annoying ginger smile.'
Pointing her fingers at Lola, she commanded, "You, take your bath. We barely have any time left."
"Yes, ma'am!" instantly replied Lola, whose rebellious spirit had already been extinguished.
She picked herself up and ran to the bathroom.
.....
Thirty minutes later.
The three of them sat on the room's floor in a circle.
Donning their serious faces, they looked at one another, confirming they were each ready.
As the head of the trio, Jaya started first, "We all know why we are here; to figure out our next step. To do that, we need to fix our priorities."
Nico asked in a manner that did not feel like him, "That's the problem. What exactly are our priorities?"
"We can list them now and arrange them in order of importance," offered Jaya.
"Let me go first. We need to find uncle, your dad!" shared Lola, her voice raised in a high pitch to emphasize how close the matter was to her.
"That is still beyond us, now. We can leave that for later. For all we know, we might not even be on the same planet," smiled Jaya.
"I have a suggestion. We need to win the competition. It can give us access to the Aztec Library. I heard that from Andrew," stated Nico.
"Hmmm. Sure, you are right. However, I don't think we have the strength required for that. Don forget we are still in [Realm-1 Stage-7]," replied Jaya.
She had seen the other participants and she knew could not win.
"Then, we would just have to rely on our techniques. The techniques we got from Master Rhys are still with us. I'm sure it could at least help us," explained Nico.
The impression the strange man left on him was strong. So, he trusted in the techniques given by the man.
Lola quipped, "Also, don't forget who we are. We might be ignorant, but our father already told us from a young age that we are special. How many teenagers do you that can compare to our rate of cultivation?!"
Jaya wryly smiled at Lola's word. She was just being vigilant and not proud.
Of course, she knew they were monsters when it comes to talents.
From nothing, they had gotten to [Realm 1]! All in the span of half a year.
Something that would take people more than four years.
Maybe, she should be proud.
She concluded their brief meeting after finding their goal, "Okay it's settled. We will aim for the tournaments, but first, we must train. Didn't Andrew mention of a courtyard for training?"
"Yes, I remember," replied Nico, who was closer to Andrew.
"Then, let's go there. Our technique would not be suitable for practicing here," she riled up the trio.
Afterward, they proceeded to the dining hall to ask Andrew for directions to the courtyard....the same Jake went to!
(Author's Note: .and that, my friend, is how you start your day; by planning!)
