Shinobi From Hell

Chapter 314 - Still Useful

"I am sure. I had seen her locking herself up here. I stood outside for a long time but she didn't come out nor did she respond upon me knocking either," Selena replied.

Selena was the one who had stayed behind to keep a watch on the room while Evelyn looked around for Klautz.

"Hmm, well the door is certainly locked from the inside."

At least this proved the point that someone was holed up inside and the lot of them were somewhat believable even if they were not much convincing.

*Sigh*

"Gozoto would soon be nagging me again…"

*Bang*

Klautz kicked open the door. The poor wooden door not being able to take on the impact broke open into two pieces granting them entry.

Evelyn looked around.

But the room was dark denying her any form of vision. No windows or ventilators were open to let the light slip in whatsoever even though the sun hadn't disappeared in the horizon yet. It was only through the door that KLautz had borke just now, that some light seeped in.

It was there…

In the corner of the room, on top of a single bed Shizu sat wrapping herself up into a ball. Her face was hidden between her legs and her back was curved facing towards the three of them. Even though Klautz had just broken into her room, there was no reaction from her side. She was seemingly lost in a daze.

"Hmm, at least she is alive and kicking. You got me in troubled for nothing."

Many ninjas had many traumas in their life. Did the ninja village throw them away for that? As long as one had life running in their veins they could be used.

Shizu was no different. Her only job was to keep the ninjas at bay and she could do it without really moving a muscle. So Klautz wasn't bothered much by why she was in such a state.

Klautz rolled his eyes. But he was soon punched on his arm.

"You are being rude. She is certainly not fine. Can't you see she hadn't responded even once to us no matter how much we shout?"

Selena herself had no idea what her motivations were for speaking up for her, but she did anyway. Probably she did it because of old times sake.

Klautz brows twitched in annoyance.

"So do you think that is my problem? It's her own personal matter. Do you think we are close enough to deal with that?"

Klautz was no fool. Physically Shizu might look fine, but she seemed to be moved mentally. But was that something Klautz should be bothered with? That was a completely different issue.

"Of course, it is. Do you think that she would be paying you for your hardwork if she is like this?"

Selena crossed her hands across her chest as she glared at him.

"Tch, you got a point."

*Sigh*

Selena was aware of the exchange that happened between the two of them. And she also knew that in reality Shizu had tricked Klautz into the job. But that sort of detail was probably unimportant.

'He is always like this. Always ignoring everyone around him.'

Klautz refused to help anyone who he had no connections with and Shizu was no different. But they did have a connection of employer and employee and Selena chose to leverage on that very fact to convince him.

"But what can I do anyway? It's not like I know what's going on with her personal life. And she is not in the right mind to speak either."

The skirmishes of the second gens wasn't something that Klautz could have any means to know about. At least not for now. They were in a completely different league compared to the newbies.

Of course, Klautz could dig out a lot if he tried but why should he bother?

'In the first place, the Yukiho family seems troublesome and mysterious to deal with.' Klautz thought.

The newbie camp was after all like a vacation resort for the second gen. There was proper management to ensure that nothing bad happened to them here. Yet if she was in this state that could only mean that it was related to something back in the world of hell.

"If it was me… would you have left me like this too?"

Klautz raised his brows. But it didn't take him long to shake his head.

"It's not about you. It's a different thing when it's about you."

Klautz claimed with a raised nose. Selena could onlu sigh. At this moment she felt a bit conflicted as to whether she should be sad or happy. Shizu was like a little sister to her by this point but it looked like Klautz would never care.

*sigh*

"Leave it. It's better if I ask her myself. But it leaves me wondering. What really happened to her?"

Selena wasn't using much of a reasoning in all of this. It was but curiosity that moved her. How could she realize that Klautz's thoughts were running like horses?

Selena crawled on top of the bed on all fours as she approached the girl.

"Shizu… Shizu, are you fine? It's me Selena."

But there was no reply. Selena reached out to her as she tried to jolt her awake.

"Shizu… Shizu what happened. Won't you tell me?"

Selena asked. Her voice carried a tone of worry.

"Uwuw"

But all she got from the girl was a weird mumbling as her eyes seemed to have lost all color. Her face had turned pale and her cheeks had sunk. She had not eaten anything since morning.

Klautz watched this scene unfold in front of him. For some reason he stood there watching it all.

In the usual scenario he would have left without a word since Evelyn was already save and his purpose was met. But…
