410  409: The Capra King

"Who are you?"

After asking this question, the goat-like being was taken aback for a few seconds. It blinked its four eyes and stared at Corey with slight surprise and curiosity.

"Who am I?"

The goat-like being mumbled with a surprised tone.

"Of all the responses I expected, I never expected you to ask me such a question…" The confusion in its eyes changed, and it now contained suspicion.

"... How come you don't know who I am? Or did The Old Ones find it beneath them to tell their disciple who also possesses an infinity crystal who I am?"

"... How infuriating."

Corey's heart skipped a beat when he sensed a tinge of genuine anger in the tone of the goat-like being. He started circulating his mana in case the goat-like being chose to attack him out of anger.

The goat-like being stared at Corey for five nerve-breaking seconds, and then it spoke,

"Although you're a disciple of The Old Ones and you also possess an infinity crystal, you're weak… And weaklings like you do not deserve to know my name."

"You'll address me as The Capra King or The King of Capras."

The instant these words were spoken, the gravity and pressure in the entire dimension increased.

Corey frowned deeply and the veins on his neck showed as the increased gravity and pressure bore down on him for a few seconds before vanishing completely.

He inhaled and exhaled deeply for a few seconds, and then he glanced at Selene who was still sleeping.

'I was the only one targeted by the increased pressure and gravity,' He thought, and then he shifted his gaze to The Capra King, 'How do I defeat him or how can I obtain the Earth Infinity Crystal inside of him with my life intact?'

Corey's expression became extremely solemn as for the first time since his failure to save his sister, he suddenly had a terrifying thought.

'I might actually die here.'

Corey was not the delusional type to believe that because he had the blood of one of the strongest beings in existence or because of his 'talent', he would be the protagonist and would never die.

He was not the type to think that if he had a never-give-up attitude and strong willpower, he would always obtain a powerful powerup even when it seemed like all would be lost.

He was rational, and in his mind, the only thing that could help him win was not a fictional or delusional powerup that would come from nowhere.

If he was engaging in a battle, the only things that could help him to win were the things he possessed. The skills he possessed, the abilities he possessed, his preparations, the weapons he possessed, and the powers he possessed.

If all of these could not help him to win, then he knew that death was not far away from him at all.

However, despite knowing that in the face of The Capra King, his chances of winning… no… surviving was lower than 1%, he had no plans of giving in to despair.

'There has to be a way… There has to be a way for me to defeat this being.'

Corey's deep violet and sky blue eyes glowed with an intense light as he stared at The Capra King. His stars of consciousness blazed ferociously as each star of consciousness thought of ways they could win.

The Capra King noticed the glow and change in Corey's eyes, and an intrigued expression appeared on his face.

"You know… After I sensed the death of the guardian of the Temple of The Old Ones, I was surprised and curious at the same time." n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

"It's very rare for a Temple Guardian to die, however, I was not that surprised since the Temple Guardian you killed was one of the weakest Temple Guardians. It has been a very long time since it received a sacrifice or a blessing, and it had been weakened because of that."

"I thought it was the rebels that killed the Temple Guardian, but if they were the ones it would also be surprising. To reach this part of the Dimension of The Old Ones is extremely difficult, and not many can reach it."

"I decided to take a peek at the Temple, and imagine my surprise when I sensed only a single human at the Temple and not an army of humans at the Temple… I was intrigued… but only slightly."

"I thought your goal in coming to this place was to strengthen your Genesis Armament, so I lost interest just as quickly as I gained it."

"Now, imagine my surprise when I sensed you in the Morphing Expanse, and although I was surprised, I didn't care. However, when you stepped into my domain, I sensed the infinity crystal in you and I knew that I had to get you no matter what."

The Capra King suddenly smiled.

"I thought I could bring you here by causing a hole to suddenly appear beneath you, but your reflexes, senses, and response shocked and also intrigued me."

"It was fun playing catch with you by the way. It's very rare for me to have fun."

Corey's left eye twitched when he heard The Capra King describe him escaping from the holes as a game of catch. He had taken it as a life and death situation, but The Capra King only saw it as a game of catch.

How infuriating.

"Although you're a disciple of The Old Ones, I couldn't care less if I enraged them after I kill and devour you. The infinity crystal you possess is the key that would allow me to break the shackles of this dimension, and enable me to ascend from a Principality to a Throne."

"You are the key that would enable me to become the ruler of the dimension of The Old Ones, and maybe, just maybe, you are what would allow me to ascend beyond this dimension and reach the Outer dimensions."

The light of greed, hunger, desire, and viciousness in the eyes of the Capra King increased to a frightening degree, and Corey slowly stood while keeping his wary gaze on the Capra King.

Just as Corey was about to activate his Eyes of Omniscience, the Capra King suddenly chuckled and then he gestured at Corey with one of his arms.

"Although what I desire the most is to consume you, I also desire to be entertained."

When Corey heard this, his eyes flashed with confusion.

"It has been a long time since I've had a good fight. Although I can choose to kill you now, I want to give you a chance…"

The Capra King suddenly smiled,

"... I'll allow you to fully recover, and then you can unleash your strongest attack on me. You can even decide to unleash your strongest attack along with that female," The Capra King gestured at the sleeping Selene.

"Let's see if you can surprise me."

The instant Corey heard this, his eyes brightened.
