Chapter 11: Interrogation
Chapter 11: Interrogation
Sol sits in a tent along with a police officer. After Sol went through a lot of near-dead situations, he developed an intuition for dangers and he can feel great danger from the officer.
At first, they don't leave him with just one cop. He was surrounded by cops before they confirm his identity with one of the teachers from the school he works at.
"Sol Vestitor, 25 years old. Live alone, work as a science teacher in high school. Unmarried, no relative, and no girlfriend. Just start working 2 years ago and don't have any close friend" the officer reads a file on him. "is this correct?"
"Yes, ma'am. But I'd say that I'm quite close with my students" Sol answers.
"I don't ask about your opinion. You will talk when asked to and no more, if you have any question then save it until I give you the permission. Do you understand?" The police officer says stoically.
The one in front of him is a woman in her mid-30s with short hair and sharp eyes. She has broad shoulders and a trained body like a soldier.
While she has this imposing air around her, she doesn't bring any weapon with her. She is different from the other police that seem like they feel insecure if they don't put a gun on his head, this officer seems like she doesn't bother with his bloody appearance.
"Yes, ma'am" Sol reply.
"Your background seems very suspicious, conveniently nobody is close to you." She says. "Tell me Mr. Vestitor, why don't you get back together with the other from your school?"
"It's not that I don't want to, but they left me behind" the officer can feel Sol's anger.
"then how can they leave you? She asked.
"I was going after the student that went up the mountain to find shards. After I heard screams, I run up the mountain to help them."
"How brave of you," she says in fake astonishment. "do you have any proof of this?"
"hmmm... No, but I did save one of my student, Anya. If she had gotten back safely then she should be able to testify for me. Other than her, everyone I met up the mountain has died" Sol said bitterly.
"The Anya you mention did come back with the other, but she didn't mention anything about being saved by you, Mr. Vestitor."
"do you have any other proof?" she asks again.
"none, ma'am" Sol grimace.
"then let's say that what you said is the truth, how did you able to come back down the mountain alone?" She asked.
"I... I run down the mountain." Sol says embarrassed.
"didn't you met a lot of creatures on the way down the mountain? How did you survive the encounter?" she squints her eyes.
"I either luckily killed some of them while I run down or hide from them before they get me." He says, omitting some incident he met along the way including the snakes around his hand.
"You are a lucky man, Mr. Vestitor" she doesn't push any farther. "If my observation than you are an armament user, how many did you kill with your knife?"
"I'm not counting" he dodges the question. "what is an armament user?"
"I'm the one asking questions here, Mr. Vestitor. Please keep that in mind!" she reminds him sharply.
"is the blood on your clothes yours?" She continues.
"Some of them are mine while some are from creatures I kill and maybe there is some blood from one of my students," he says.
"how come your student's blood is on your clothes?" she asks with a poker face.
"I found her dying under a tree, so I tried to help her but I failed," he says gloomily. His face getting dark and his hand trembles.
"I'm so sorry Sasha I can't hear your last words" he pray in his heart. "I shouldn't have let them go up the mountain" he laments quietly.
"Mr. Vestitor, you may continue your depression another time, my time is limited."
Their interrogation continues while the woman asks the question and Sol answers her question while omitting some truth.
When she has done questioning him, another cop takes him away from the tent, then a figure appears beside the female officer.
"what do you think about him?" the figure asks.
"There is too much suspicion about him. While he has quite a lot of shards, logically he shouldn't be able to survive the way down the mountain" she says.
"His file says that he is an ordinary teacher without any prior combat training or survival training. The most he has is a mandatory first aid training"
"So do you think you are stronger than him?" the figure asks.
"You are thinking too much. He is strong but he is just an ordinary human while I'm an Heir of God" She said. "a single bullet to the head and he is done for, do you think he has any chance?"
"Well, we will never know" the figure gets out of the tent.
"That isn't wrong, something about him feels kinda eerie. That bracer of his, is it another armament?" she mutters to herself
Sol gets out of the tent and then the officer that guides him gives him a change of clothes and told him to put his old clothes in a basket.
Sol continues to follow him to another tent.
"hey, why don't you guys take my knife as well?" he asked.
"it an armament right? There is no use to take it, it will just magically get back to you" the officer says without looking back.
"Wait here, someone will come here and answer all your questions"
