Chapter 164: Grand-scale
Chapter 164: Grand-scale
"Huh? Was it me or the world just shook?" Sol asked himself as he continued his journey.
It had been a week since his fight against the hydra; he did not meet with Tea and the other on the way.
Being all alone, Ed could only talk with Nai, but the knife rarely took the initiative to talk with him other than asking for food.
"Was I always this lucky? I had not met with any creature along the way," he wondered.
Suddenly the underworld quake, Sol shivered as he could feel a great danger was coming, "what is happening?" he thought.
Every few seconds, the world shook and he could sense an ominous aura spreading every time it shook.
"Did the war start?" he asked himself as he did not know what was really happening, but his gut feeling told him it was Atlas and his army attacking the ruler of the underworld.
Sol did not know that Altas had teamed up with Thanatos and Keres while leaving his army behind.
"The start of the war already shook the world, If it continued then there would be great disaster coming, Even those who are far away might get injured or killed by the war," he grimaced.
"I need to hurry and leave the underworld, there is nothing good that would happen if I stay here," he thought.
At the beginning of his journey in the underworld, Sol was limited by the hundred days he could survive in the underworld. Now that he has become a minor demigod, he could stay longer by killing others on his level.
But a new time limit had been imposed upon him, Sol needed to escape before the scale of the war went out of proportion.
Heavy pressure fell on his shoulder as he fell to his knee, his body felt heavy as the Gods fight made those weaker than them feel helpless.
Sol's limbs felt like jelly as waves of energy and shock waves crashed to his body, he could only grit his teeth to brace for the impact.
"And this is just the start," Sol got the feeling that things would get worse as time goes.
As he could not move his body, Sol moved with his mind, Sol conjured an armor made from the sun ice ability and controlled them to help him move.
The armor would crack every time the shock wave crashed to his body, but it would absorb heat from the environment to repair itself, so Sol didn't need to do it manually.
Suddenly, Sol felt the world turn grey and everything stopped moving, but after a second, the world went back to normal again.
No shock wave came for him, but it was too early for him to celebrate. It started once more, this time the shock wave was stronger than ever.
It sent Sol crashing to the ground; he coughed up blood from the impact. Just the shock wave was enough to critically injure him.
"I'm still three days or so from the supposed gate of the underworld. How can I survive if the shock wave kept getting stronger?" he lamented.
"for now let's heal up, I might die if another wave hit me, "he thought as he conjured the healing dome to heal himself.
Sol was busy healing himself when another wave came to hit him, but to his surprise, the wave was blocked by the healing dome. Not only did he not get injured, but he did not get influenced in any way by the Gods' clash.
"Healing dome can be used like this?" he thought as he got up from the ground.
He kept the dome in place even though he had been healed since it seems to be able to protect him from the Gods' clash.
"I need to hurry," he picked up his knife and continued his journey.
"Hold on! Keep moving, we have a task to fulfill!" Sol suddenly heard a man's voice from a distant place.
When he got closer to the source of the sound, he found thousands of people were struggling to get up. The exceptional thing was, none of them was weaker than a minor demigod.
He could even sense those stronger than himself, "Lesser gods?" he recognizes the difference in their power, They were definitely stronger than the Hydra he killed by leap and bound.
"What is Atlas's army doing here? Isn't the war starting already?" Sol was shocked when he recognized the group of people.
They were faring worse than himself. Even with lesser gods and minor gods protecting them, they barely could defend against the turbulence happening in the underworld.
"Even gods could not fully protect them? Healing dome is way more mysterious than I thought," Sol mused.
He was contemplating his option. He could not sense the Titan in the army, so it would be safer for him to go and find his teammates in the army, but it would still be risky.
"I need to know why they are here," He decided.
With so many people in the army, they could hardly notice if anyone joined their rank, moreover they needed to focus on defending against the underworld's turbulence.
"Wait, don't leave me behind," Sol disguised himself as a soldier that was left behind.
No one gives him any mind. They did not try to help him as the weaker demigods were already busy taking care of themselves while the stronger gods would not bother with one missing demigod.
With a steady pace, Sol finally reaches the group. He could actually reach it in a short amount of time, but it would make him suspicious as the other was suffering from the turbulence.
He had a destination in mind, far away, he had spotted familiar figures; the girl was one of many in the army, but he could still recognize his old teammate.
He slowly walked to her side without notice, "Jennie," he whispered as to not attract any attention.
Jennie looked beside her in shock. There was hardly anyone who could sneak up on her, for someone could actually get close enough to whisper in her ear was shocking.
The moment she looked at him, she became even more shocked, "So..." she was about to shout, but Sol closed her mouth with his hand so she could not shout.
"Silence, don't attract any attention," he told her.
Once she nodded in understanding, he let her go, "Sol! What are you doing here? I thought you were killed in the trial ground!" she asked.
"I'm not, it's a long story. Is that what Tyx had told you?" he gritted his teeth, remembering what happened that day.
"Yeah, she said you failed the trial and ended up dying, we thought you died, we could do nothing as Atlas was in control," she explained.
So far, Sol already knows about it, he had expected for things to be the way it is, "I will get her when I meet her, I don't care how strong she really is, I will throw a hydra on her face if needed," he thought.
"Anyway, what is happening here? I thought the war started already, why is the army here?" he asked her.
"Atlas got help from two major gods, he made a change of plan, the army will march to the gate of the underworld and destroy it while he kills the god of the underworld," She explained.
"Destroying the gate?! Is he crazy? What would happen if the gate got destroyed?" Sol was shocked.
"He plans to destroy it so no one can close it ever again." She grimaced.
"You sure it would not have an adverse effect on our world?" Sol asked.
"I don't know, I'm as clueless as you on this," She said helplessly.
Sol bit his lips in frustration, "What about the other? Are they alive?" he asked her.
"I haven't met them since we joined the army, it's hard to find people since there are so many of them, I don't even know if they survive our journey," she said in the middle of panting as a big shock wave crashed against the army.
"Here, let me help you," Sol conjured a healing dome around her body.
She could feel warmth from the healing dome, and it healed her injuries in a few seconds. When another shock wave came, it bounced harmlessly from her body.
"Thanks," she thanked him as she could finally rest from all the torture.
"So what are you going to do now? Will you join us at the gate?" She asked him.
"Yeah, IT would be safer, and our goal is actually the same. As long as I don't need to go fight any war, then I will stay here in this army," he told her.
The army was so big that almost nothing could block its way. If any creature tried to stop them, they would bury it under their power.
Only if they met a major demigod would the army break. They could not beat such a strong opponent with just a number.
Currently, all the major gods in the underworld are fighting against each other. There was little to no chance the army would meet any threat.
"We are too small to affect this major event," Sol lamented, as his presence doesn't matter in the grand scale of things.
