Chapter 147: A meal with Jin Wei!
Zhang Yuan, Ming Yuelin, and Xue Hua walked side by side through the bustling streets of Pearl City. Though the worst of the beast tide had passed, the city was still in a state of lingering unease, frantic about the situation.
After hearing the first beast roar, everyone in the city was ready to get evacuated and only now people are coming back to the city to continue their normal lives.
And there is also another team in the gates clearing the corpses of the fallen beasts.
The city guards, together with several local sect disciples, were hard at work removing the corpses of the fallen beasts. Massive carts were being filled with the bodies of the slain creatures, some small, others as large as houses.
The stench of death still hung heavy in the air near the gate, but the workers moved with efficiency, eager to restore order and cleanliness to the city.
The shopkeepers are slowly returning to their shops and people are coming to their house after the massive beast tide.
Their stalls, which had been abandoned during the chaos, were now being reopened, one by one, with hesitant optimism. Merchants began dusting off their wares, arranging colorful fabrics, spices, and tools for sale.
A soft sigh escaped Zhao Tian's lips as he gazed at the people who were still in panic and at this time, the trio spotted Chen Zin standing outside a restaurant as if waiting for someone.
Chen Zin noticed the three people walking down the street and waved her hand to get their attention "Here.."
Ming Yuelin tugged Zhang Yuan's robes and pointed her finger at Chen Zin who was waving her hand.
"Come on, let's go..."
As they walked closer, Chen Zin gave a slight bow to Zhang Yuan, Even though she hates Ming Yuelin, she has to show her respect to powerhouses.
"Senior Taoist, Master is up there waiting for you..."
"The food will be getting delayed because the City is still in panic after the Beast tide."
Zhang Yuan gave a faint nod "It is to be expected..."
Chen Zin glanced at Ming Yuelin as a cold glint passed through her eyes 'You bitch...'
'Huh? What the fuck you want, cunt?' Ming Yuelin shot back, a smirk appeared on her lips.
Zhang Yuan also noticed their interaction and smiled amusedly in her heart as he patted Ming Yuelin's head "Let's enter..."
The four of them quickly stepped in and after a short walk entered the VIP room.
Jin Wei who was waiting inside quickly stood up and bowed her head "Senior Taoist..."
With a nod, Zhang Yuan smiled back "Miss Wei..."
Jin Wei gestured beside her for him to sit and Zhang Yuan too took a seat beside her.
"Hehe.." Ming Yuelin also quickly rushed beside him to sit next to him.
Because of that, Jin Wei was pushed to the end window seat with Zhaang Yuan in the middle, Ming Yuelin, and Jin Wei on both sides.
Chen Zin gritted her teeth upon seeing this, but she didn't say anything and sat on the opposite side of the table with Xue Hua beside her.
Jin Wei glanced at Zhang Yuan "The waitress said... the food should arrive soon, because there are no other customers than us in this restaurant now because of the beast tide."
Zhang Yuan nodded his head and Jin Wei smiled politely "Let me introduce myself again, I am Jin Wei.. the Sword Saint from the Haoshaku Empire."
"My name is Zhang Yuan..."
'Zhang Yuan...' Jin Wei muttered under her breath "Then I shall call you Senior Yuan..."
"Do as you like..."
With an excited smile, Jin Wei asked "And so, Senior Yuan... when did you begin practicing swords?"
"Well, very young..."
"Ohh.."
As they continued talking, Xue Hua sighed in her heart looking at the imaginary lightning flickering between Ming Yuelin and Chen Zin.
Her gaze swept over to the outside through the window as her gaze trembled 'I wanted to give it to my Master.. but now it is in the hands of Senior Sister.'
'In the first place... does Master need anything? He can afford anything he wants and he can have whatever he want.. so what can I give him?
'What can I present him that will be precious to him?'
As she thought in her mind, she glanced at him, a soft smile tugging at his lips as always, which kind of soothes her heart.
She closed her eyes and all she could ever see was him.
Unconsciously, a smile appeared on her lips as her eyelashes fluttered open and her eyes softened in affection looking at him.
...
The sound of the door sliding open interrupted the flow of conversation, and a waitress entered, carefully balancing trays laden with a variety of steaming dishes.
The waitress bowed slightly, then began placing the dishes on the table—steamed buns, dumplings, stir-fried vegetables, braised pork, and bowls of fragrant rice.
Jin Wei's eyes lit up at the sight of the food and she reached for her chopsticks, clearly eager to dive in.
"Quick, Quick.. I am hungry!"
Despite her elegant appearance and refined manners, her enthusiasm got the better of her and she grabbed a large amount of dumplings, noodles, and stir-fried pork, stuffing her mouth with more than she could handle.
"Mmm—so good!" she mumbled, her cheeks puffed up with food.
Zhang Yuan, sitting beside her, couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.
"Ah!" Only then did Jin Wei realized, and a quick blush took over her face embarrassed by her overeager behavior.
She quickly covered her mouth with her hand, her eyes wide as she looked at him.
"*ahem* I-I didn't mean to—" she stammered, swallowing hurriedly and trying to regain her composure.
Zhang Yuan's laughter was warm and genuine, his eyes crinkling at the corners and he waved a hand in reassurance.
"No need to be embarrassed, Miss Wei. It's refreshing to see someone enjoying their food so much. Just be yourself."
Jin Wei's blush deepened, but a shy smile crept onto her face. "I'm not usually like this," she mumbled, looking down at her plate.
"Don't worry," Zhang Yuan replied, still smiling.
Jin Wei dove into her food again, this time trying to be more restrained, but a small, satisfied grin played on her lips as she savored the moment.
