Chapter 68 - Decoys (2)
Tyler Anas looked down from his canoe. Down there, through the fog, a silhouette of a cruise ship could be seen.
Tyler checked his plate-like apparatus... Yep. The arrow was pointing directly at this cruise ship.
Down there, those guys on the ship were entangled in some trouble.
They were only about 15 miles into the ocean. Yet, these guys had already lost their power system. Taking a closer look, this cruise ship was battered now.
Even at the moment, rays of lights and streams of bullets were pouring down the decks. Yet, the mist monsters seemed endless. More and more monsters plopped out of the waters, trying to jump onto the cruise ship's deck.
"Naive." Tyler Anas scoffed. By the looks of it, even without his 'helping hand', this cruise ship won't last another 20 minutes.
"But I'll put you out of your misery." Tyler Anas drew out his crimson thin sword.
Standing tall and straight, Tyler Anas held this sword in front of him. Gradually, his sword started to brighten up with a red glow.
"En Garde!" Tyler Anas shouted. Without further delay, this family head raised his sword.
A clean chop!
A red arc of red energy shot out the crimson sword. Travelling down in air, this arc quickly grew in size.
In a blink, it was already as wide as the cruise ship itself!
A clean cut!
The crimson arc cut through the ship and continued into the ocean waters.
Hearing a loud metallic groan, that ship slowly deformed into a wide V-shape. In this process, the metal structures pressed and dragged onto each other.
Btttoooom!
A fiery explosion bursted out the middle of this ship!
As the fiery cloud fumed up, the environment brightened up a little.
In an instance, the middle of this cruise ship was brought into the air. For an instance, it formed a wide A-shape.
Under the blast wave, the surface of the ocean was pressed down into a wide arc.
In the air, a wild torrent brushed past that floating canoe. Sitting inside a white sphere, that canoe didn't even waver at this blast wave.
With a deep metallic groan, the smoking cruise ship slammed against the ocean surface.
Tyler took a look at his plate. The arrow was gone now. Mission accomplished.
Nodding at this result, Tyler turned to a family member behind him.
"Are we heading back sir?" That family member carefully asked.
"What do you think." Tyler looked at the dude with half-closed eyes.
"Yes sir!" The family member bowed at this order.
Pooof!
A geyser of water shot up 20 meters into the air. A loud whale song could be heard now.
Looking into the fog, a silhoutte of a large bird could be seen as well.
"Oh?" Tyler Anas prepared his sword again.
...
Around the same time...
Telepathy and an Anas family member stood by a mine entrance. Behind them, there was a trail of fainted dudes.
Telepathy looked at the arrow. Then he pointed into the dark mine.
"We going in there?" This young fella asked. Wearing a casual hoodie, jeans, and sneakers, this guy looked like he was here for vacation.
"Yes." The Anas family member pushed up his golden framed glasses.
"Nah man. You crazy. You craaaazy." Telepathy chuckled.
The dude: ...
"You are serious."
"We must stop the ritual at all cost."
"Mhm... You know what. I'll just." This young fella sat onto the ground. The ruby-like gem on his necklace started to brighten up.
The Anas family member knitted his brows. Looking down at Telepathy, this dude smirked. "If you do not have the courage to enter this mine, I will go by myself."
"One sec." A ray of red light shot out of Telepathy's ruby crystal.
"We are running out of time." The Anas dude grumbled in frustration.
"Shh."
"You have one minute at most."
"Okay bro."
A few seconds passed in silence.
Btttooom!
A fiery explosion blasted out the mine entrance. Emitting a loud rumbling sound, the entrance collapsed.
"What have you done!" The Anas family member widened his eyes.
"Mission accomplished." Telepathy knitted his brows.
Standing up with a serious face, Telepathy walked back to the canoe. "Aight. Let's head back to the sanctuary. I got a bad feel about this one."
That Anas family member looked down at his plate. That arrow did disappear after all. Wearing a dissatisfied expression, this guy followed Telepathy.
...
"Relax partner." Gardener's cheerful voice echoed down the rainwater sewers. "You lost too many games or something?"
The Anas family member: "..."
There wasn't much rainfall in May. As a result, the sewers here were pretty dry. Nevertheless, the air was still stale.
The Anas family member took a dissatisfied glance at the energetic mid-aged fella.
Just like the other Anas members, this guy was also in a suit. A glass orb floated above this guy's head. He was also holding a plate-like apparatus. The arrow pointed out the direction. Unlike the other fellas in his family, this guy had a mask on.
Wearing a gloomy expression, this young man clearly did not enjoy the stinky environment here.
Behind the two, there was a group of 30 people. 4 S-ranks leading a group of A-ranks. A squad from the Berrystone coalition force.
At their levels, they travelled quickly in this convoluted underground system. About 30 miles an hour.
Yet, they had been down here for 10 minutes already. No enemies detected.
"So. Are we winning?"
"Just follow me." The youngster knitted his brows. Pressing his mask against his face, this guy slowly took a breath.
"Young fellas these days." Gardener chuckled and shook his head.
Bam!
A spark popped up inches away from Gardener's body. A bullet had shot into an invisible barrier!
Like a signal, bullets showered down from the sewer tunnels. Yet, there was a barrier in front of Gardener, blocking out everything out with ease.
Against S-ranks, bullets were simply not that useful anymore.
"Geez! Almost gave this old man a heart attack!" Gardener threw out a handful of seeds down the sewer waterway.
Purple lights started to blink in these murky waters.
One after another, purple vines popped out of the water surface. In a moment, they grew into the size of street lamps.
Like a swarm of pythons, these vines slithered down the sewer tunnels.
"Let's get'em boys!" Gardener led the charge with a shovel in hand.
...
At the other side of this city, standing at the front of a flying canoe, Jeff knitted his brows in thought.
