Stronghold In The Apocalypse

Chapter 60: Kids~

Chapter 60: Kids~

The Pelican landed near an old parish church made from stones where Leo saw that there are some survivors hiding inside the church according to the map.

"We're here" Leo said as the aircraft slowly landed on the ground.

Leo stood up from his looked at the girls who are already ready, "Lock and load"

"Good luck commander and girls" Gideon's voice reverberated inside the aircraft.

"Well, thanks Gideon" Aria cheerfully replied.

"No worries Gideon. We'll be fine" Leo also replied.

The girls fixed themselves for a bit as the hatch door slowly opened in front of them.

The huge sword materialize at his back and the girls were surprise by it for a bit before they just ignored it as they are already used to seeing things not so normal like this everytime they are around Leo.

"This place is so messed up" Aria had an uncomfortable look on her face when she saw how chaotic the streets are with cars being abandoned on the road, dead corpses and trash everywhere.

"You'll get used to it" Michelle smiled, patting her shoulder.

"Come on!" Amanda, who's with Leo gave a controlled shout at them.

The girls hurriedly followed behind them as the Pelican's hatch closed on it own. The girls hurriedly followed behind Leo and Amanda just outside the parish church.

"What are we even doing here?" Amanda said to Leo with a handgun on hand, ready to fire anytime.

"There are people here" Leo replied and was about to knock on the large wooden door,

"Wait, inside?" Michelle said as she pulled his shoulder and looked at him.

"Yes..inside.." Leo said while gesturing with his head that there are people inside the church.

"Okay~" Michelle shrugged her shoulders and let go of him.

Aria chuckled looking at them, 'Leo is such a player, having both beautiful ladies for himself. I wonder when can I meet my destined one?'

Knock~ Knock~ Knock~

Leo still knocked on the door even though he already knew that there are people inside, "Anyone there?"

Leo's caused a small ruckus inside the church before it became quite but Leo could clearly hear that there are muffled sound of heavy breathings inside, probably from having their hands cover their mouths.

"I know that there are people inside" Leo said.

"Who are you? Go away! There's no place for you guys here!" a woman's yelled at them from the other side of the door.

"Look here, we're from the military and we're here to rescue people" Leo lied and then rolled his eyes when he noticed Aria's mouth moving with a clear message towards him, "Why the heck do you mean we are from the military?"

"Yeah, why are you lying?" Amanda said to him in a soft voice.

"Duh, they won't talk to us I tell them we're not" Leo replied and noticed Michelle from the corner of his eye, that she was vigilantly looking around them. Which made him satisfied inside.

"Are you really soldiers? Are you here to rescue us?" a weak voice of an old man sounded from the other side of the door.

"Yes we are and I'm commander Leo of the 1st Brigade" Leo made another and thought ridiculously inside,'Well, people call me commander sometimes, so basically I'm telling them a half lie'

"Alright, we will open the door but you guys should stay there and don't move, we have guns too!" another voice of a man was heard from the other side of the door.

After that voice, there was some ruckus happening inside and sounds like there are heavy things being put down on the floor of the church.

Leo looked at the three girls and pointed at the stone wall beside the door, "You three, get on the side"

Leo took the sword from his back and gripped it, ready to slash if anything goes wrong. After all, even though Leo had a cheat map, that doesn't mean it could determine the people being scanned by the map are armed.

'Better safe than sorry' he thought.

The church door slowly opened just enough for some to take a peek.

Leo noticed an eye looking at him with fright.

"He's not a soldier! Quickly cl-Hiii~~!" the person tried to warn them and wanted to close the door immediately but he immediately shrieked in fear when he noticed that the blade of the a sword was just an inches away from his face as he fell on his butt.

Bang~!

Leo kicked the door open as it swung open, nearly getting blasted off from how powerful his kick is.

Kyaa~!

Different screams sounded inside filled with fear and fright.

"Seriously!" Amanda gave him the eye for being brash before she stepped inside with the two girls.

"Really now" Michelle shook her head.

Aria smiled at Leo and patted his arm.

"What~? They wouldn't have let us in the moment they saw me" Leo said to them before following inside.

*****

Inside the parish.

"Go away!"

"Please don't kill us!"

"Mommy~ I'm scared, wuu~"

Kids and women started panicking and crying while the men inside started angrily shouting at them with wooden bats and metal pipes in their hands.

Leo popped a vein in his head as he was annoyed by the noise they are making, 'Goddamn, they are so loud that I wouldn't even be surprised if zombies comes flocking here'.

"Shh~ It's fine. We are not gonna hurt you. We are here to rescue people like stranded here" Amanda and Michelle tried appeasing them for them to calm down.

"What they said" Aria nonchalantly said like she didn't even care about what's happening right now and started looking around with her eyes.

"Shut the hell up!" Leo barked loudly as he can't finally take it anymore.

"If you guys don't freaking shut up in three seconds. I'm gonna start 'putting' in your mouths" Leo said with an annoyed face, while playing with a handgun on his hand and pointing it towards the survivors.

What Leo did might have worked on the adults but it made the kids more afraid instead as they started crying more loudly.

"Arhhh~!"

""Leo! You're scaring the kids!"" Both Amanda and Michelle yelled at him.

"I-I- Ah- Arggh~! Whatever!" Leo stammered as he was surprised being berated for the first time in a long while with the exemption of his parents.

Leo looked Aria as the latter just shrugged her shoulders like she was saying based on her facial expression, 'Don't look at me. I'm just a bystander here'

"Hmmp~" Leo snorted and took a seat with his arms crossed.

'I didn't know that kids was this annoying' Leo thought bitterly and compared the kids here and the kids back at the camp.

"It was like heaven and earth comparing" Leo mumbled to himself while seriously looking at the girls appeasing the survivors inside.
