Chapter 61: It's okay!

Chapter 61: It's okay!

"Can I request to have a dance with the lady?"

As Seth proposes his hand forward, Christopher who has been dancing with his wife until now, smiled in elation before he nodded and lets go of Valarie's hand.

Eleanor also came forward to take her father's hand as the two initiated their steps under the influence of melodies classic piece the choir was playing.

Valarie narrowed her eyes at Seth for a second, reminding him that she still was a little angry with him but took his hand nevertheless before it could have seemed suspicious. She doesn't want the world to know that there was anything wrong between them after all.

Seth guided his other hand on her waist as he saw his mother holding his shoulder as well before their feet began to move in rhythm just like the father and daughter duo.

There was a thin smile plastered on Seth's lips as he felt amused seeing his mother's grumpy yet adorable antics.

"You look stunning today, mother."

His words sounded genuine and so did his smile which Valarie has rarely seen on him. She was indeed pleased hearing his compliment but she was far from giving in.

"Save that sly tongue for your women. I am not that easy to fool."

With a twirl, they again got closer as Seth decided to not clarify his words and tell her how much he meant by those words.

He knew why his mother was upset with him and this was the best chance and atmosphere to ask for her forgiveness.

"I know you are upset with my decision mother, but do you believe I will do anything without thinking of our future?"

Valarie was slightly taken aback by Seth's mature comment on something she never even considered.

She was so annoyed with this sudden change in her perfect plan that she never looked at things from Seth's perceptive nor did she think of the reason why Seth ever proposed such an idea to delegate the post to Keith.

Seth was never an irresponsible or lazy child or say, Valarie was extremely amazed at how calmly he took things even though he got stuck in a grave situation.

She has her way to test Seth and he always concluded in the best.

It goes without saying that there must be some hidden motive of his, for which he was deciding to distance himself from his family and ask for a definite time to fulfill his dream.

'I indeed never thought about it... '

Lost in her thoughts she just followed Seth's steps and never noticed when the others also joined the stage and began dancing with their partners.

The royal prince was the primary motivation and others followed suit. The blond highness was currently matching his steps with his mothers and so were the others with their partners.

"Think about it mother and if you can then please forgive me for my selfishness."

With those words, Seth brought themselves to a halt as he let his younger brother take the lead as he walked away.

Soon Keith and his mother began to dance as Seth turned to take something to drink. But the first thing his eyes landed on was Laila standing near the stage. It seemed her father joined someone else so the girl was just left alone.

Seth sighed and approached the pink-haired evidently nervous girl.

"Lady Laila."

Laila flinched hearing someone calling from so close and knowing that there were a lot of boys looking in her direction she feared she might have to reject someone now.

But the answer she preparing to decline the boy instantly faded as her eyes landed on the man in front.

Clear yet stern emerald eyes were looking down at her and Laila was extremely familiar with this gaze. Not just eyes but the hair, face, and everything she has seen hundred times before. Except for that smile...

"Shall we?"

Now when she heard Seth speaking again, Laila was finally able to get out of her daze as her eyes landed on the hand Seth has raised in her direction.

She instinctively reached with her own as she didn't know how could she reject him. Or more like rejecting Seth never crossed her mind at all.

Seth felt a jolt running down his spine as her soft hand fall into his grasp but he was able to mask his expression before leading the beauty to the stage.

He fluently held her waist, with his other hand connected to hers but it took Laila some moments to bring her hand on his shoulder as she still was understanding his she ended up in such a situation.

She indeed want to talk to him about something but at the same time, she was scared.

Sacred that she might not be able to handle the truth.

The waltz began but soon a disturbance occurred making Laila eyes moistened instantly.

"Ah!"

A soft yelp left Laila's lips which fortunately no one noticed.

"I-I..."

"It's okay."

Seth really didn't mind being stepped on his feet since he felt nothing. Nor he was a sick aristocrat to take it as a disgraceful act and reprimand the girl.

But Laila didn't take Seth's behavior as simple as he made it show at all.

She was shocked by such a response.

In the past, even Laila dared to make mistakes like letting the cup clatter on the saucer, and she got coldly scolded by Seth. She has been brought up rather so leniently that such small mistakes were bound to happen.

The nervousness of getting berated by Seth made Laila do more blunders and every time she heard his harsh words, she felt hurt. She never did any mistake on purpose yet he never understood.

But now when she did such a basic mistake related to the teaching which every noble child gets from the age of eight...

...then why he was so different now...

"Seth."

Seth's eyes which were drifting around the place got refocused on his partner as he heard her somewhat heavy tone. Her head was also leaning down but unlike some seconds ago, she didn't seem much uneasy.

"Hmm?"

As Seth hummed for the girl to continue, Laila shot her head and looked at him with her eyes rigid to not shy away as she proposed her request.

"I want to talk to you after the party. Can you give me some of your time?"

Seth was taken aback by such a courageous way of talking as he subconsciously paused his feet and so did Laila but the latter was still looking at him with desperation and determination.

Seth felt something was up with this girl but not like by any means she could harm him so he gave his consent.

"Yeah, sure..."

He was about to ask whether they would be meeting but Laila walked away just after hearing his response.

Seth was left speechless and would have taken his time to get rid of these raging emotions which were urging him to follow Laila but unfortunately, someone came to disturb his brief rest as well.

"G-Good evening, President."
