Chapter 767: The field gets crowded
"How is Lupa? I hope she did not get badly injured." Ester worriedly asked. Their bond was similar to real sisters after experiencing so much hardship together.
Vincent gently shook his head. With a snap of his fingers, Zero opened the dome covering Lupa.
After the vines moved one after the other from the top, Lupa appeared for them to see. They could see that she was in a deep sleep. The small vines she was sleeping on gave them the impression she had been sleeping cozily while they kept fighting.
*Phew* Ester sighed in relief that Lupa was going to be fine with a good rest and later receive good medical attention.
As the barrier deterred outsiders from entering and stopping participants from exiting started to disappear, soldiers could be seen lining up in front of all the entryways.
The more seconds passed, the more the barrier in front of the entryways disappeared. When the barrier disappeared enough for a person to pass, one soldier after another started entering the field.
Some soldiers headed toward the victors, some toward the losers, and most went to stand guard at the corner of the field to stop or deter anyone from the audience from entering the field.
The commentator stopped commenting. He needed to go down and meet the victorious team. He also needed to make the losing team offer their public apology and also pay the price for attempting to molest the wife of a Baron.
The commenter turned his head over to Darwin first. He noticed his brows were frowning, and his body was tense.
The commentator turned his head the other way around to check what Darwin was frowning at. On the opposite side was the representative of the five noble families standing up and three soldiers blocking his escape route.
The commentator comprehended what was happening right now. The loser of the bet wanted to escape before he was forced to keep his word. He was trying to escape from becoming Darwin's slave.
Darwin was not a person who mistreated slaves, yet the same could not be said for the new slave with a lot of information about what happened in the judgment by combat to be spilled. The representative was going to experience excruciating pain unless he spilled everything the knew.
"Where do you think you are going?" Darwin asked while standing up.
"I... I wanted to go to the toilet. I... I drank a lot before coming here." He responded with a nervous voice.
*Snap* With a snap of his fingers, a soldier placed a high-quality slave curse magic contract and a slave registry on the commentators' desk. A high-quality magic pen was later placed on the table.
"Hah. Stop trying to weasel your way out of this. Don't waste our time and hurry up."
The commentator nodded. "I agree. I and all of the people in the audience are witnesses to the bet you just lost. Hurry up because I need to meet the winners."
The representative clenched his teeth. The veins on his head faintly appeared. His body tensed. He was about to resist or take the easy way out by ending his life.
*Poke* After feeling poked from behind, the representative blinked his eyes multiple times while his pupils slightly contracted and expanded.
The representative took a step forward before stopping to stabilize his body because he suddenly started losing the feelings from his limbs. Standing up was becoming difficult.
When he moved his head to see who had attacked him, he saw the three soldiers previously blocking his path raising their hands about waist high. Their hands were holding a small and thin pointy object.
It was a needle held in between their fingers. However, it didn't appear to be an ordinary needle. About half of the needle had a greenish tint, while the tip had a reddish tint from his blood.
The representative turned around and placed his hand on the desk to remain standing. "W... what do you do... to me?" He angrily said while his voice sounded weak sometimes.
Darwin crossed his arms. With an authoritative voice, he said, "I have eyes, you know. I could see how you lot tried to win by siding with a force that I did not want to speak about. You will become a slave and reveal everything you know one way or another. I will not allow the security of this peaceful kingdom to be threatened because of a small dispute."
The representative's face became pale. It was obvious Darwin had reached the correct conclusion.
The commentator stepped aside. "Take him to sign the documents. He needs to keep his word and honor the reward he promised to provide if he lost." He ordered.
The soldiers nodded. They grabbed hold of the representative and pushed him to the documents he needed to sign.
Vincent moved his head from left to right. He could see soldiers with capes entering the field now. Shortly, he could count about a dozen vice captains entering the field and leading the soldiers on what to do.
[Vincent. Look to your left. The scoundrels have entered the field.]
Vincent turned his head with a frown on his face. The moment he saw the five noble teens being escorted by five royal soldiers, his frown relaxed.
-More like being forced to enter and approach us.-
[Yeah. The royal soldiers are taking good care of them. Even though those five trash appear to be protected, they can not escape from giving us what we want.]
Even though a lot of soldiers gathered in the field and multiple royal soldiers made their appearance, many more were hiding in strategic places.
In a corridor of the highest level in the arena was a vice-captain rushing to speak to the royal guard Melvin Taurus.
"Viscount. We have captured twelve suspicious individuals who tried to leave the arena. The earliest we captured was around the time the situation turned greatly in favor of the Lionheart family." The vice-captain informed after catching his breath.
"Good. Tell the soldiers to remain vigilant. The people involved will be interrogated as their knowledge is of a sensitive matter if my guess is correct." Melvin said while contorting a frown and showing signs of disgust.
The vice-captain nodded. He saluted and later glanced at Melvin curiously one last time before leaving in a hurry. He had to inform the rest of the soldiers to keep their eyes wide open for any suspicious people or activities.
Not too long after, Melvin approached the king. He leaned his head and informed him of the current situation in a low voice.
"Keep up the good work. We are well protected here, so do your job without the need to report every new unurgent development. I can know everything later." The king responded in a low voice.
Karta saw Melvin leave. She smirked, saying, "Is the newbie doing a satisfying job?"
"Yes." The king responded. He moved his head to his left and to his right. "Those two left. I hope they will not cause any trouble."
"Ahem." Karta cleared her throat. "I also hope not, as I am the only one at this location who can try to somehow deter them from continuing."
"Can I also go?" Anna asked with a pleasantly soft voice.
The king frowned while gently shaking his head. "You are to remain here. Maybe later you can visit them, but not now as the current situation is not clear."
"I agree with his majesty. Furthermore, they need rest. It is better to meet with them after they stop trying to act as if they can keep fighting."
"I agree with his majesty and the Duchess. " Bilka said while firmly holding the wheelchair with one hand. She was not going to let Anna leave.
Anna sighed. She could only look from a distance instead of congratulating the winners in person. After visiting the Lionheart family with Lucas in the past few days, Anna felt involved, as if she was part of their team.
[Look who is making their appearance.]
Vincent moved his head. He saw the commentator and Darwin following him. A couple of soldiers holding a wand and wearing light military clothes followed them. Additionally, when a few soldiers noticed their presence, they went to follow after them.
The large group soon reached them. Before activating the sound-extending gemstone, the commentator started chatting with the winners.
"Congratulations. What a spectacular fight you all displayed. I had a great time commenting. Hehe." After a light chuckle, he continued, "My passion to comment has been reignited today. I sincerely thank all of you."
"Congratulations on the victory. I never expected the opponents were going to result in using illegal substances and body experimentations to win by killing their opponents." Darwin congratulated before speaking brutally honest.
"Huh? I didn't hear any of this." The commentator complained.
"Don't worry. You will get to know later. " Darwin responded without explaining what he saw and what really happened on the battlefield.
Vincent, Ester, Mimi, and Awa thanked the commentator and Darwin for congratulating them. After they finished, they saw Sofy walking beside soldiers. Behind her were Iris, Lilith, Mirey, and Plow.
[Looks like the girls have decided to join us.] Kazumi said in an upbeat voice. She was happy to see familiar faces after experiencing a short fight that felt like it lasted for a long time.
-Unfortunately, Sakura is missing.- Vincent added.
[Yeah. She chose to protect us instead of possibly causing us trouble because of her race...] Kazumi paused before continuing [Look on the opposite side. There are two shocking surprises approaching us.]
