Chapter 406: Chapter 406 Golden Star
Tian Xun took Tian Xin back to Giant Ring Star first, as she was responsible for pioneering work there and couldn't stay on Sky Pinnacle Star for long.
Wei Wufu followed Lin Shen and stayed on Sky Pinnacle Star. Every day, he either went to Ring Mountain Planet to hunt Supersource Dragons or researched the issues regarding Nirvana.
However, Wei Wufu had no intention of undergoing Nirvana outside. As a member of the Wei Family, he planned to return to the Human Mother Planet for Nirvana, knowing that once he underwent the process, it would be impossible for him to come out again.
Lin Shen once asked Wei Wufu about how the Wei Family's Nirvana Beings achieved Nirvana on the Human Mother Planet. Wei Wufu said that they all took the path of Minor Nirvana and only needed a Nirvana Egg to complete the process.
Since there was no true Base Variant land on the Mother Planet, they couldn't take the path of Great Nirvana. Only Nirvana on an Alien World would allow that, but undergoing it there meant they couldn't return, so there was no choice.
With nothing else to do, Lin Shen sat in the Dean's office studying a book titled "Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals" that Manager An had given him. Despite the book's unimpressive title, the tricks inside were incredibly sly.
Lin Shen summarized that there were actually only two moves: one called Shrimp Slide and another called Crab Step.
Lin Shen felt that Manager An must have come up with the names while eating, and though they were odd, the two moves were indeed interesting.
Normally, running forward is definitely faster than retreating, but the Shrimp Slide taught one how to retreat quickly and fiercely, resembling a shrimp flicking backwards in the water.
Retreating faster than charging forward was probably unique to this move.
The Crab Step, on the other hand, was a lateral movement technique, teaching one how to run sideways faster than running forward.
These two techniques seemed ordinary but were incredibly useful.
Lin Shen took a great interest and after practicing for a while, found them not too difficult to pick up and quickly got the hang of it.
"If I could incorporate Shrimp Slide and Crab Step into my Surfing Fist, wouldn't I be able to create waves with my punches in reverse and sideways..." The more Lin Shen practiced, the more he felt these techniques suited his taste perfectly.
When Ouyang Yudu left Sky Pinnacle Star, he only sent a message to both him and Wei Wufu, roughly implying that he was going back to Firce Fire Star, and that they could find him there if needed in the future.
Lin Shen had the intention of asking Ouyang Yudu to stay, but he himself was not faring well on Sky Pinnacle Star. As the Dean of the Celestial Master Institute, he wasn't sure how long he could maintain the position, so he couldn't bring himself to say it.
Ever since Lin Shen arrived at the Celestial Master Institute, the Heavenly Emperor seemed to have forgotten about it, neither providing funds nor assigning special missions.
Every day, Lin Shen practiced his movement techniques and researched how to make money to buy Mutated Ascension Liquid and Mutated Spirit Base. On Sky Pinnacle Star, having money meant anything could be bought, and increasing the Base Mutation rate was far too simple.
But making money wasn't easy; it wasn't difficult to say, yet it was not easy to do. At least Lin Shen hadn't yet thought of any way to make money.
"Sai, is this Golden Star one of the Celestial Master Institute's properties?" Lin Shen asked while looking over the properties under the name of the Celestial Master Institute, surprised to find a planet listed.
"Golden Star, yes, it is. The Celestial Master Institute used to have many planets under its name, but later, they were either distributed elsewhere or used to pay off debts. No one wanted Golden Star, though. Even though it's a Base Variant Planet and not short on Ascension resources, because of the harsh environment, most Ascended Creatures can't survive there.
People didn't want it when offered as a large debt settlement, and we were unwilling to accept a smaller portion for it, so it was left in our hands," explained Sai, who was like an encyclopedia for the Celestial Master Institute and knew everything, especially all sorts of gossip and secrets.
"How severe is the environment of Golden Star?" Lin Shen asked curiously.
"The gravity is too strong, the atmospheric composition isn't suitable for carbon-based life, and that's without mentioning the lack of oxygen. It also contains a type of metallic toxin. Ascended Creatures staying there for a few hours would suffer severe bodily harm, even with protective Carapaces, slowly becoming metallic…" Sai detailed Golden Star's condition for Lin Shen.
Lin Shen's eyes lit up after hearing that. The environment on that planet would indeed be challenging for an average Ascender to survive, but with Evolution Theory and the Immortality Scripture at his disposal, he figured he wouldn't have any problems living there.
The teleporter to Golden Star was kept inside the storehouse of the Celestial Master Institute. When Lin Shen arrived at the storehouse, he found the teleporter covered in a layer of dust, not knowing how many years it had been neglected.
Fortunately, the teleporter was still operational, and Lin Shen used it to directly enter Golden Star.
As soon as Lin Shen landed, he felt his body sink. Even with his physical condition, he nearly fell to the ground.
"What strong gravity!" Lin Shen was startled. The gravity here was much stronger than that of Realm King Planet. Creatures below the level of an Ascender probably wouldn't even be able to stand up; their bodies would be crushed by the gravity.
All that met his eyes was a vast expanse of gold—of course, not real gold but a metallic substance that resembled gold.
The entire planet was made of this metal, with a density even greater than gold's.
The ground looked barren; no vegetation was in sight, nor were there mountains, rivers, or the like. Most of the terrain was relatively flat with occasional undulations, and the ground was pockmarked with holes and depressions.
Lin Shen held his breath and, with the filtering effect of his carapace, couldn't smell anything unusual in the air.
However, Evolution Theory started to operate on its own as if it were combating something.
In the distance, he spotted a Golden Bull wandering around. These Golden Bulls were much smaller than the cows on the Human Mother Planet, only reaching up to Lin Shen's waist and appearing quite mini, like calves.
Lin Shen summoned the Inheritance Fan and, with a flick of his wrist, dispersed it into streams of Light Swords that whirred toward one of the Golden Bull calves.
Impacted by the terrifying gravity of the place, the Light Swords derived from the Inheritance Fan flew slowly, devoid of the speed and momentum deserving of an Ascension Level attack.
"Moo!" The Golden Bull let out a strange cry and spewed out a handful of Golden Bull Diamond Horn Blades from its mouth.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The Golden Bull's Horn Blades didn't block the sword light from the Inheritance Fan; instead, they headed straight for Lin Shen.
The streams of Light Swords struck the Golden Bull, only leaving scratches on its body, unable to inflict heavy damage.
"Eh, this guy has undergone quite a few rebirths!" Lin Shen's heart sank, and he immediately unleashed the Surfing Triple Punch, forcefully blasting the Golden Bull Horn Blades flying away.
Since he was alone, Lin Shen simply summoned the Contrarian and let her battle with the Golden Bull.
A fifth-turn Contrarian, possessing all of Lin Shen's innate skills, immediately activated Super Base Form and Super Base Change, and with a single punch, she shattered the Golden Bull's head.
"Killed a mutated Ninth Turn Ascended Vajra Bull... Discovered a mutated Ninth Turn Spirit Diamond Horn Blade..."
Lin Shen's eyes widened as he read the update on his watch: "Damn, this creature was a mutated Ninth Turn! No wonder the attacks from the Inheritance Fan could hardly damage it..."
