Chapter 685: 679: Too Strong
Chapter 685: Chapter 679: Too Strong
Finn Lewis was taken aback. These words were vaguely stated and Finn didn’t comprehend what they meant. While they masked numerous hidden notions, Finn, however, didn’t grasp their implications—what exactly did they convey? It seemed as though there was a message intended for Finn, but he himself didn’t decrypt it.
“I’d wager that they were persuaded by your final words, Your Highness. They dislike the thought of dying just like that, while keeping the secrets of the ones who orchestrated their demise. Hence, they laid bare what they knew,” Luna Starfield said.
“Alright, now I understand.” Finn nodded. The sentences didn’t contain any substantive content, hence, Finn had no way to further discuss this. He could only store these words in his heart and pay more attention in the future. Luna Starfield then asked, “Your Highness, should we proceed with cleaning up the battlefield? Do we need to take prisoners?”
Finn pondered for a bit before turning his gaze toward Jasmine Davis, “What about those people? Do you want them?”
Jasmine Davis hesitated a bit, before opening her mouth to say, “Since they’ve chosen this line of work, they need to accept the possibility of death at any moment. However, since they’ve already survived, with nowhere else to go, my personal opinion is to wipe them all out. Let’s nip this issue in the bud to prevent future troubles.”
“I share the same sentiment as Commander Davis.” Luna Starfield said.
“Let’s proceed as per your suggestions then.” Finn declared decisively and without hesitation.
Following Finn’s order, countless warships began to sweep through the entire battlefield. The battlefield now was littered with survivors from the enemy fleet that was completely annihilated. Among the survivors, those who left on lifeboats were directly destroyed with artillery, the remaining survivors in their portable spacesuits could only supply oxygen for half an hour.
Half an hour later, they would ultimately meet their demise. The chosen battlefield was extremely remote where hardly anyone visited, the closest uninhabited star system was several billion kilometers away.
“Is the related information ready?” Finn inquired.
“It’s ready.” Luna Starfield said.
“It’s time to claim the reward.” Finn shrugged, turning his gaze towards Jasmine Davis. Jasmine was left speechless. She had already procured the information required. The question was, “Who would seriously believe that a small mercenary group could command more than a hundred warships?” It was total nonsense! Such a mercenary fleet could rank first within the entire Mercenaries Association.
Futhermore, it would be a commanding first. Even some of the grand aristocratic families didn’t command so many warships. But now you’re saying that it’s a fleet from a small mercenary group? Who would believe such nonsense? Nevertheless, believe it or not; it was the harsh reality, one that was impossible to hide.
“By the way, how do we confirm that the mission has been completed?” Finn could not help but ask out of curiosity.
“For missions above seven stars, the completion of the main task is determined by the client. The Mercenary Association only assists in verification. Generally, if the employer agrees that the mission is completed, the Association won’t go against the employer’s view,” Luna replied.
“Well, that makes things simpler. Have someone submit the mission progress, then I’ll approve it.” Finn said to Jasmine Davis.
“Alright.” Jasmine Davis naturally wouldn’t refuse such a matter. Even though they didn’t accomplish the task, it’s better than giving it to someone else, right? Given such a generous reward, Jasmine felt bad for Finn. The main point was that this mission needed to be expedited.
There was no need to submit the mission to the Mercenary Association in person; related videos and data just needed to be submitted. Jasmine Davis quickly submitted the necessary data as required by the Mercenary Association right here. This nine-star mission can be said to have stirred the entire Galactic Federation’s mercenary world.
Every day countless people kept their eyes on this nine-star mission, but today, when some mercenaries subconsciously opened the mission list, they were surprised to find that someone had submitted the task completion! Although the nine-star mission contained many subtasks, even so, submitting the task at this point was very surprising, to say the least.
Ordinary people opened it out of curiosity, but most of the mercenaries with ulterior motives who had some ambitious plans about this mission were shocked. Each of their teams had their own tasks to complete. If someone else completed their assigned tasks first, wouldn’t their efforts be wasted?
So many people quickly clicked into the task details once they updated it. They were surprised to find that the mission’s publisher had already confirmed the mission was completed. Approximately one-third of the funds, totaling 340 billion star credits, had been transferred directly to the one who completed the mission.
When they saw what part of the mission was completed, everyone was shocked. The fleet had been eradicated! Mercenaries were often quick in gathering information. They also probably knew the primary cause of this mission’s update. It was reported that two interstellar pirate groups hired to assassinate a member of the royal family were directly released for bounty by the prince himself.
While the prince’s financial strength was intimidating, what was even more terrifying was his execution ability. How much time was required from start to finish? The entire fleet was wiped out? Some of the people immediately opened the video and associated battlefield data uploaded when the mission was completed.
When they saw the densely packed more than a hundred warships, and more than forty main warships that had been annihilated, everyone was dumbfounded. They seemed to have never heard about this mercenary group before? Was this a temporarily registered family? When they checked the mission-completing mercenary group’s details, they found out that the group had been registered for more than a decade, but even though it had been registered for a long time, the problem was that there were only around a dozen members.
For a small mercenary group with only a dozen members, where did they find these hundred odd warships? Furthermore, the sharp-eyed ones immediately discovered that among those warships were more than a dozen first-class battleships. One mercenary group with a first-class battleship? How does that fair with those large aristocratic families?
However, many people quickly lost interest in that and started watching the battle video. After watching it, everyone couldn’t help but shake their heads. It was clear that they had devised a calculated ambush. It didn’t matter if they had a hundred odd warships ambushing forty odd warships, even if their strength were equal, there is an over eighty percent chance to be taken out in such an ambush.
