Chapter 129
Chapter 129: Return to Zhongjiang, Lin Xiaowan’s Accidental Collision!
As soon as Luo Si Hai entered the office, he saw Lin Tian, who was continuously wiping his nosebleed. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes. He hadn’t expected Su Lin to be so ruthless as to leave Lin Tian in such a state.
“Si Ye, should we stop those people?” asked one of Luo’s men.
Luo shook his head. He couldn’t possibly start a war with Su Zhenguo over Lin Tian. After all, Lin Tian was just a business partner, whereas Su Lin was Su Zhenguo’s son.
“Why are you standing around? Take Xiao Tian to the hospital!” Luo ordered.
Lin Tian, still wiping his nosebleed, shook his head, “No need, Uncle Luo. It’s just a superficial injury. A few days of rest and I’ll be fine.”
“But Xiao Tian, your injuries seem serious.”
Lin Tian shook his head again, “I’ll be fine after some rest.”
“And the subway line contract?”
Lin Tian paused, then said, “Don’t worry, Uncle Luo. I have my interests involved. I’ll definitely help you finalize it.”
“Alright, then. Rest well, Xiao Tian.”
Lin Tian nodded, his eyes flickering. He decided not to ask Luo Sihai for help in dealing with Su Lin. While Luo might assist in sabotaging a business competitor, he wouldn’t risk offending Su Zhenguo by harming Su Lin.
Therefore, Lin Tian could only return home. He had sensed Su Lin’s intent to kill him but was unsure of his method. Staying out now would be risky; he could be killed at any moment.
His plan was to lay low at home until securing the subway line contract, which would then make Luo Sihai more inclined to remove Su Lin, a shared competitor with Su Zhenguo.
Elsewhere, Xia Shiyu felt relieved to see Su Lin return safely with Liu Da and the others.
Su Lin, wrapping his arm around Xia Shiyu’s back, whispered, “Xiaoyu, things in Donghai are almost wrapped up. I’ll take you back tomorrow.”
“Yeah, I miss Xiaowan too. She calls me every day saying she’s bored to death.”
“Is that so? Then we’ll go and have some fun with her when we get back. She always asks about you when she calls me,” Su Lin chuckled.
Xia Shiyu shook her head, “She always asks about you too, wondering where you are and what you’re doing. She cares about you the most.”
“Then it’s settled. I’ll inform Zhao Yanyan later that I won’t be coming in tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
In Zhao Yanyan’s office, she stood up abruptly upon hearing that Su Lin was leaving, “What, you’re going back to Zhongjiang?”
Su Lin nodded, “Yes, things here are pretty much settled. The Donghai branch is open, and the competitor is temporarily out of business, so it’s time to head back.”
“But what about the Qin family’s banquet? Aren’t you attending?”
“There are still six days until the banquet. Xiaowan keeps asking me to come back, so I’ll return here in six days,” Su Lin casually said.
Zhao Yanyan looked somewhat disappointed. She had developed deeper feelings for Su Lin, especially after seeing how he handled everything with such composure and control.
She felt her resolve weakening and her affection for Su Lin growing stronger. She wondered if she might eventually let go of her principles, surrendering to Su Lin’s charm.
“When are you leaving?”
“Tomorrow. It’s already late today, and after a day’s work, I’m a bit tired. We’ll head back tomorrow.”
“Then let me see you off tomorrow,” Zhao Yanyan offered impulsively.
“It’s not necessary. The Donghai branch has just opened, and you’ll soon be busy with other branches. You should focus on your work here,” Su Lin advised.
Su Lin could see the fatigue on Zhao Yanyan’s face and comforted her, “Don’t try to handle everything by yourself. Learn to delegate and manage your subordinates. That way, you can relax a bit. You’ve only been open for a few days, and you already look worn out.”
Zhao Yanyan touched her face, “Really? Do I look that haggard?”
Su Lin, realizing how sensitive women can be about their appearance, smiled and said, “Not very haggard, just a little bit.”
“Ah! You’re just comforting me, aren’t you? I must look terrible.”
Su Lin shook his head, not wanting to prolong the conversation about appearances.
…
The next morning, Su Lin and Xia Shiyu packed their things, ready to drive back to Zhongjiang. They didn’t ask anyone to see them off.
They were only going to be away for a short time, and Su Lin planned to return in a few days, though he wouldn’t be bringing Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu with him next time.
Su Lin thought about the protagonist Xiao Chen who was about to appear in Donghai. Xiao Chen was not just a medical expert but also possessed martial skills.
He would eventually inherit the divine medical skills of Hua Tuo, including the Taiyi Magic Needles, capable of both healing and cultivating immortality.
So, Su Lin didn’t want Lin Xiaowan and Xia Shiyu to get involved, fearing they might get hurt. Having been in this world for so long, Su Lin had integrated well. He genuinely liked Xia Shiyu and Lin Xiaowan, though he wasn’t able to be entirely faithful to them.
“Xiaoyu, when we get back, you and Xiaowan should go get your driver’s licenses. You both should learn to drive,” Su Lin suggested.
Xia Shiyu, tilting her head, asked, “Why do we need to drive? We don’t use cars.”
“Who said you don’t neee to drive? You’ll be busy in Zhongjiang. Plus, your house isn’t close to the company. You can’t rely on public transport every day. And Xiaowan too. Learn to drive, and I’ll buy you both cars,” Su Lin said with a smile.
“A car! Won’t that be expensive?”
“You’re not paying for it, so why worry? The company has plenty of money. Providing cars is a necessary step for a mature company. Don’t worry about it; we’re definitely buying the cars,” Su Lin stated matter-of-factly.
Realizing Su Lin was determined, Xia Shiyu softly said, “Can we buy something affordable?”
“That’s not your concern.”
As they drove into Zhongjiang’s city center and approached the company’s entrance, Su Lin spotted Lin Xiaowan in a white dress, waiting at the office building’s entrance.
“Did you tell Xiaowan we were coming back?”
Xia Shiyu, spotting Lin Xiaowan, sheepishly nodded, “She called me last night asking if we were coming back. I accidentally told her we’d be back today.”
“You shouldn’t have told her. She must have been waiting for a while.”
As Lin Xiaowan saw Su Lin’s car, she smiled radiantly, stunning Su Lin to the point where he almost collided with another car.
“Yikes!”
“Don’t worry, my driving skills are so good, I wouldn’t hit anything even if it’s just ten centimeters away,” Su Lin boasted.
“Ah, you scared me!”
“Stop being scared, let’s get out of the car.”
As soon as Su Lin opened the door, he was suddenly embraced by Lin Xiaowan in a happy collision. “Su Lin, you’re finally back!!!”
