Chapter 6: Cooking in Home
Chapter 6: Cooking in Home
Qin Lan quietly pushed open the door to his room as he sneaks inside.
His servant, Xiao-Ke, is still sleeping soundly in the corner of his room because Qin Lan has tapped on his relaxing acupoint. Not only Xiao-Ke would fall asleep until sunrise, but he'll be energetic and lively in the morning due to Qin Lan's interference.
After writing down a few tools and ingredients he might need, Qin Lan returned to his bed. Although he hated the thought of not being able to clean himself before rest, he eventually gives in to keep his recovery a secret from anyone else for now.
One of his main concerns is because the real culprit behind him getting crippled might be from the Qin Family Household.
Honestly, he hated to even think about it, as bloodline is always thicker than water. But if that's true, he's nothing like a dimming oil lamp, who's unable to decide anything.
...
...
"Ah!!! What a great rest I had! Let's get our young master some hot water to wash him... Eh?" Xiao-Ke stretched both of his arms as he approaches his young master's bed. But looking at the piece of paper with words written on it, he decided to go for that first.
"Xiao-Ke, young master..."
"Something... Knife... Medicine."
"Rest, writing... Something."
"I'll have to go out and find Xiao Yun to read this for me," Xiao-Ke grabbed the rest of the paper and quickly dashed towards Xiao Yun's room to had her read the content.
(I forget that this guy's head is made of straws! How can I even think that he'll be able to read what I wrote?)
Qin Lan is speechless. But as he tried to shift his body to a side, a pill container lost its balance and rolled down until it was stopped by Qin Lan's tired body.
He reaches his hand to the pill container and brings it back to his eye level. It seems that this guy has some conscience inside him, to spend some of the money the patriarch gives him to purchase a pill container of higher quality.
Thinking about how Xiao-Ke usually behaves, it was easy to discern the extent of his honesty. And it won't be weird at all to find out a stash of money somewhere inside of this room.
He then tossed the pill container away from the bed. The bottle had a few somersaults action as it sat on the only table inside this room. Qin Lan continues to sleep that he's been longing for without bothering Xiao-Ke, who returned half an incense stick of time later.
But honestly said, his efficiency is surprising.
The mere half incense stick of time was all Xiao-Ke need to collect everything back to Qin Lan's room. Although they can be considered messy, it was quite a complete one.
"I should leave quietly without waking young master up. Let me write him a note so I can go to the garden and continue to consolidate my cultivation." Xiao-Ke took a brush up and started to write a few words on the stack of paper.
About three hours later, Qin Lan wakes up energetic. Although he missed his regular mist-taking session, his mood can be said to be better than before due to being able to start cultivating. And with the Mistral Flesh Diagram turning his body into a spiritual energy container, the effectiveness of his method does not lose to those in the Jindan consolidating path.
Qin Lan chuckled as he looked at the stack of tools he requested. While on the table, it was stuffed full of accompanying ingredients used to enhance the properties of the medicinal pill he's going to concoct.
But a piece of paper with chicken scratchings caught his attention.
(Young Master, I'll be slaughtering the wild at the back garden)
"This servant... He should just speak instead of writing everything wrong. What is with the slaughtering the wild word? Are you a bandit? And where's the dot and hook in these few letters?" Qin Lan has the tendency to slap his own face after reading the message.
And what was seen cannot be undone. These kinds of memory would torment a person endlessly.
"I should start by forcing him to learn how to read and write. It would be a disgrace if the servant of a Supreme Emperor's mentor to be inefficient in the four arts."
Qin Lan crumbled the piece of paper into a ball and used it as a firestarter on a charcoal stove. He then placed a pot made from clay on top of the medium flame as he began to make an incision on the six dead martens.
The blood that flows into the pot warmed up quickly as Qin Lan crushed some pepper-like herbs and added the heart of a golden-yellowish flower. Then, some other menial herbs for cooking are added to enhance its flavor.
But this pot of bloodstock is not for consumption purposes.
To a human being, consuming a mouthful of this would send them into the toilet continuously for ten times. But to the plants in his private garden, it is the most magnificent fertilizer that could enhance their growth and ability in gathering more mist and consolidating them further.
Now thickened like gruel, Qin Lan has no other choice but to use his hand and start shaping them into sphere balls. The overall process took close to an hour to complete, which cleared a third of the ingredients he ordered.
He then cleaned his hand before getting ready for the next in his list.
Using the heirloom dagger without feeling remorseful, Qin Lan cut the carcass open as he removes the gut and bones. They were kept aside to be throw later. As for the flesh, Qin Lan skinned them carefully to remove the pungent fat.
The hide is then pulled and sewn using some string to be tied on a drying rack. Since there are only six white martens, Qin Lan estimated that he'll be able to create a total of twelve demonic amulets at most.
Furthermore, the requirement to prepare the amulets is vexatious.
Not only the ink used to draw the demonic diagram is have to be fresh, but there are also a few other requirements that have to be fulfilled before he could start.
A sufficient Spiritual Energy is the first, followed by time and place. One also has to learn and be fluent with the demonic inscription language as well, before they could start. But they'll also have to has the correct material for the inscription to start.
Of course, nothing could beat the reward if the requirement is fulfilled.
With the white marten's skin as the material, there are two kinds of demonic amulets to be made.
The Escaping Amulet, and Running Amulet.
With nothing else to do with his yesterday's game, there's only one more thing to be done. The pot made of clay was removed and placed aside to be used later.
Qin Lan rummages the black garment he wore yesterday and reached for the content inside a pocket. When he pulled his hand out, there was a stalk of trimmed branches holding two citrus fruits.
They're known as the Demonic Blood Orange, the main ingredient to concoct Flesh Foundation Pill. There are close to a hundred types of recipes to produce this pill, and the majority of them require the Demonic blood Orange to complete the process.
Only less than ten recipes are either deviated or improvised.
And they're all originated from an ancestor.
Qin Lan.
...
...
"Young master, I've come with dinner as you requested." both Xiao Yun and Xiao-Ke are standing outside with trays of food in their hand.
"En. Come in." Qin Lan answered. He's still seated in the wheelchair made especially for him since the day he was crippled.
But as the door was pushed open, another unexpected visitor is standing right in between the two servants. Qin Tian made his way straight to his beloved grandson after the door was opened while leaving Xiao Yun and Xiao-Ke to prepare the table.
"Grandfather didn't come to visit you almost for the entire month. I hope you're not angry with me," Qin Tian said. He placed two of his fingers on Qin Lan's wrist to check on his pulse before transferring some spiritual energy to soothes his grandson's limbs.
Qin Lan didn't decline his grandfather's kind offer.
As his body now resembles a spiritual energy container, what Qin Tian is trying to do now is undoubtedly beneficial to Qin Lan. That's even more, considering that the spiritual energy of a Bone Reconstruction Layer cultivator in full-completion is purer and better by multiple folds.
"Your grandson dare not to blame grandfather for all his effort. The matter of Qin Household should always come first before anything else," Qin Lan replied. He knows the internal conflict between the elders, like the back of his hand, and also how tricky it was to maintain the balance.
"En. Let us not talk about these kinds of subjects at the dining table. I've just come back from a meeting with the Su-Hang Town's Mayor. And look at what your grandfather found." Qin Tian opened the box of exquisite sewing to reveal its content.
It was a stalk of a red flower with a seed pod still intact. But on the seed pod, there were only three seeds in total.
"It's actually a stalk of Fiery Pear Flower?" Qin Lan smiled.
"What a coincidence."
