Chapter 7.3: Promises (3)
Vol. 1 - Chapter 7.3: Promises (3)
"W--Wait!! A-All three of them! I will take them in!"
"All three of them?? Hey, Suzuki. If you keep taking in tons of people because you feel sorry for them, won't your villa become overcrowded?"
"That's why! I was talking to Nephira about building a human village in my territory!"
Nephira let out a sigh. It seemed that Suzuki had not given up yet.
(That's right! Meru and Kiru should chide him too!)
"Suzuki keeps saying that he will build Suzukiland and he's not listening to me. You guys should say something to him, too."
"Suzukiland, eh?"
.
"What's that---! That's weird---!"
"It doesn't matter what it's called! It could be advantageous to the Thunder-Lance Charge, too, you know!"
Suzuki was desperately appealing to the Meru-Kiru sisters. The earnestness with which he was trying his best was adorable and cute.
As Nephira stared at Suzuki, Kiru burst out laughing.
"Ha ha-ha. I understand, I understand. It's all about that thing, right? You're going to create a place where both humans and demons can enjoy themselves, right?"
"W--Well, I guess it's something like that."
Meru nodded smilingly.
"Uh-huh, uh-huh---! Sounds like--- fun, ya know---!"
(Eh--!? W--What!? You guys!! By any chance, do you agree with him!?)
Nephira, inwardly impatient, said to the Meru-Kiru sisters, "You guys. Don't say something so irresponsible! If a human uprising were to occur in Suzukiland, are you planning to take responsibility?"
"Oh, ye---ah. Then, in that case, I'll be keeping a close eye on Suzukiland from now on!"
"Me too, me too---!"
(...Huh?)
Then they both smiled at Suzuki.
"We're on Suzuki's side!"
"Suzuki---! We'll support you---!!"
"T--Thank you! Meru, Kiru!"
Suzuki's eyes sparkled with happiness as he grasped the sisters' hands. The Meru-Kiru sisters also smiled, embarrassed, as they shook Suzuki's hand.
(W--Wait!? To receive a handshake from Suzuki... I'm so jealous!)
Nephira then looked at the situation from a broader perspective. This made her look like a stubborn and disagreeable boss who is the only one inflexible.
"I--I didn't oppose it for no reason at all! I had to! I had to as a precautionary measure!"
"It's fine, it's fine! Leave it all to us!!"
"That's right, that's right---. We'll see to it that there is no rebellion or anything like that---."
"I--I see. Uh-huh. However, if that's the case, I should probably keep an eye on Suzukiland too."
"Lady Nephira is very busy so we'll handle it. It will be fine---!"
"That's RIGHT! Since Lady Nephira is the commander! We will take care of the rest!"
(M--Mean!! Left out!? You intend to have me left out!?)
Watching the three of them talking in harmony about the future of Suzukiland,
"I, too... I, too, definitely, will be going to keep an eyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!"
Nephira exclaimed with tears in her eyes.

(Nephira seemed angry, but somehow it all worked out.)
Takashi walked around, surveying the vastness of his territory. It had been several days since he had received permission from Nephira to run Suzukiland.
Orneo and Excella were in charge of deciding whom and where in the territory everyone should be assigned. He found out that there was a butcher block, which offered even worse treatment than the slave block. The inhabitants of Suzukiland were people brought mainly from that block.
At first, they were puzzled, but as soon as they listened to the plan, they quickly accepted the situation. They started creating their own living spaces by bringing in undamaged furniture from their former homes.
"This is a list of the current residents of Suzukiland."
Orneo, walking next to Suzuki, handed him a bundle of straw papers. The people's names, gender, and assigned duties were written on the paper.
(There are quite a lot of them now, but I need to make sure I know who all of them are.)
As Suzuki walked with Orneo, the Meru-Kiru sisters followed a few steps behind. Although they called it "monitoring," Kiru was humming, and Meru was playing with her hair while doing it.
A middle-aged woman who was tilling the soil in the field approached Takashi.
"Lord Suzuki! Good morning!"
"Uh-huh. Morning."
"This is Ellie. She's the one growing grains over there."
Then after walking for a while, Orneo pointed to a pond in the distance.
"That's Jake over there. He was assigned to take care and manage the fish."
(Yes, yes! Now it's starting to feel more like a village!)
Takashi felt deeply moved. But then he heard a sigh with a "fuaa" and looked back at the Meru-Kiru sisters walking behind him. The sisters seemed somewhat dissatisfied.
