Chapter 2 The System
Systems appeared out of nowhere several hundred years ago and they took mankind by storm.
They awarded mankind with the Stigmas that were engraved on the humans who had been brave enough to face the horrors of the cataclysm that would later be called 'Realm Fusion'.
The 'Realm Fusion' was a phenomenon that was pretty much self-explanatory for someone, who had read a fantasy novel more than once.
Multiple Realms fused and they became one, giving birth to a big dimension, world, or realm.
Ever since that fateful day, mankind lost its position at the top of the food chain even though Blessed Humans had appeared not long after, and nobody could say for sure if they would ever regain that position.
Realms Inhabiting Monsters and all kinds of foreign Races had fused with Earth during the Realm Fusion, after all!
As for Stigmas, they were considered the proof that Gods existed, that they communicated with their loyal followers, and that they would never ignore their beloved humans when they needed them the most!
Stigmas granted power, enough to allow humans to fight against their designated fate and rewrite their destiny.
However, I considered Stigmas as dog leashes, nothing more or less.
Rather than supporting the Blessed unconditionally, one was forced to walk down a certain path, the path chosen by the God who blessed you!
I had to acknowledge that the Blessings of the Gods were powerful. A Blessing increased the strength of humans exponentially and they allowed humans to grow much faster and reach new heights.
The stronger a Blessing the higher chances the Blessed had to become truly powerful…but that made things worse in my humble opinion.
I would never allow anyone to take control of my life, let alone choose my path by 'granting' me a blessing.
Why should anyone allow the God of Life and Nature to 'bless' them with her power and a system related to her natural traits if they desired the destructive powers to protect their beloved and killed those they loved dearly?
That didn't make any sense in my opinion but it was accepted in this society where the Blessed were considered treasures and Normies, i.e, humans who weren't blessed, were considered Sinners, or even Cursed Children.
No God wanted them, not even the Gods of Death, who were said to accept even the worst trash of humanity!
While other Normies despaired because of their fate, I was relieved.
Did it really matter that others had made fun of me for the last few years?
They didn't even know who, or what I was…nobody really did.
I just knew that I would never be Blessed.
I did not belong to this Earth, after all!
My path was different from everyone else and I was fully aware of that. I was going to have the last laugh!!
I just had to be a little bit patient and endure their relentless nagging and bullying, until today.
When I left the classroom earlier I felt a tingling sensation in my chest, telling me that it was finally time to leave.
After taking a glance to my left and right, I chose to ignore the five bullies and Rail Landal for a moment.
Instead, I focused my entire attention on the deepest parts of my subconsciousness, and there I saw it…a tattered book held together by a loose binding, its edges frayed.
The cover had been weaved together by thousands of tiny golden particles that had slowly accumulated in my body.
They were three thousand golden particles in total, weaving the cover of a thin book that had neither a picture nor emblem drawn on its hardcover. Neither was it adorned with letters to give it a title.
The book was empty as well.
There was not a single page inside the book that resided in the deepest parts of my subconscious.
Not even an empty page had formed in the book, yet, I was happy.
But why was I happy?
I didn't really know the answer to that…
Unfortunately, there was no time to think about it any further. Rail Landal lunged forward when I was distracted, and his steel-like hand grabbed me tightly by the collar.
'Well, that faux pas is definitely my fault…' I thought, tilting my head with a smile on my face.
"Fucking psycho…what are you looking at?!" Rail Landal shouted, his left fist striking down on my head, rather than my arm.
My heart was beating rapidly but my expression was unchanged and my body reacted calmly to the signals my mind sent out.
When Rail's fist was about to knock me down, I ducked, gathered all the power in my right arm, and hit upward, the palm of my hand pointing toward the white ceiling.
My eyes were wide open as the air force of the high-velocity punch hit me in the face. However, that was already everything as my sudden counterattack had been powerful enough to change the trajectory of Rail's punch, barely missing me. My counterfeit hadn't been anything worth mentioning, but my second attack was certain to cause lethal damage.
I've had enough of Rail's bullying and it was time to get a little revenge. Being held in the air by my collar while my feet struggled to find a footing was not something I looked forward to and I was already suffering from a lack of oxygen.
It was pretty hard to breathe.
However, I was still smiling as I pushed myself away from Rail by using his well-trained body as a launching pad. Building up momentum while Rail's left fist was still high in the air, I put all my weight and strength into my leg as I kicked him, bruisingly hard.
My aim was perfect and I hit my designated target the moment I had generated the most momentum.
I hit him right in between his legs, where the sun didn't shine.
*Crack*
I was not sure if I had left him permanently incapable of bearing children or not but I was still satisfied.
Rail's expression was a sight to behold and it was a memory I would never forget in my life.
His grasp around me loosened and my left foot touched the floor just a moment later.
I could have taken a few deep breaths and run for my life now that I had the opportunity, but that would have been boring.
"You are a little bit pale around the nose…let me help you with that!" I offered and I went into action without waiting for a reply.
The only sound that entered my ears were shocked gasps from behind me as I spun around my own axis to gather enough momentum and deliver a fierce roundhouse kick that smashed the face of the 'most exceptional' graduate from the Academy.
His upper body had leaned forward as if he was inviting me to kick the shit out of him…. What was I supposed to do?
Ignore such an exceptional opportunity?
Not a chance!
