Tenkomori: The Homecoming Club Conquers Another World

Chapter 116.2

Chapter 116.2

Boil water in the kitchen and make General’s tea on the living room table.

With just the right amount of bitterness, I sighed in relief.

Ah, delicious.

Something is flying around, but it’s probably just my imagination.

“What—what is that!?”

Having finished her work, Quince came down and widened her eyes.

Kyle, Emily, and Ginny were also staring in amazement.

What’s what? I have no idea.

“It’s flying!”

“Isn’t this the board that was on the table?”

Ginny pointed out while poking at the little roof.

I gulped down the General’s tea and announced, “I turned it into a magical tool.”

Quince and the others seemed impressed by the [magic tool creation], but they were more fascinated by the flying board.

They were crawling under it and poking it from all directions.

It didn’t seem to recognize it as an attack, so the roof and little roof remained unperturbed.

“Can we—can we ride it?”

Kyle asked timidly.

Good question. Can you ride it?

I called the roof over and tried sitting near the center.

Then, it slowly descended and landed on the floor, becoming immobile.

No luck.

Even at a slow speed, it would have been convenient if it could carry someone.

But if the weight is light enough, it might float.

I picked up Kyle, the questioner, and sat him in the center.

Then the roof rose up and, though slow, began to move.

Kyle let out an unintelligible cheer of surprise and joy.

A huge board floating in the living room with a child on it.

Children swarming around it, and another board drifting around like an escort ship.

What a sight.

Unfortunately, the little roof couldn’t do it, so I set an hourglass and decided to take turns riding the roof.

As they got used to it, Quince used the iron golem stacked against the wall as a launch pad and started the roof from there.

It was like an amusement park. This magic tool seemed to be an attraction.

Watching them with a smile,

“Can the board do anything else?”

Emily asked while holding the little roof.

I stood up and took the little roof.

Then I took out a knife still in its sheath and tossed it straight up.

The knife went up to the ceiling and then came straight down at me.

Just before it hit, the little roof veered sharply and knocked the knife away.

It’s fast in an emergency.

“This magic tool is specialized in defense. But it’s big and hard to carry around. It’s like the guardian of this house.”

The children kept saying “Amazing” and crowded around the two boards.

Honestly, if the materials were good, I’d want to crowd around too.

“What are their names?”

“Just so you know, I didn’t name them. The big one is Roof, and the small one is Little Roof.”

“Roof-sama!”

“Little Roof-sama!”

They suddenly got honorary titles.

Maybe because I called them guardian deities. Well, it’s better than nothing. Less confusing too.

“Alter-sama, can we ride it in the backyard!”

Ginny asked, pinching Roof-sama.

The living room was plenty spacious, but it would be more fun outside.

I was about to give permission but then shut my mouth.

These guys… would it be okay to show this to people?

There is no flying magic in this world.

Even with the restriction of being for children only, how rare would a magic tool that can fly be?

I think similar magic tools exist somewhere but—

“I’m going out. Stay in the living room until I get back.”

I left the house and headed to the academy.

Might as well test its performance.

◇◇◇◇

Standing in front of the house, Elfimia tilted her head curiously.

From inside, the children’s laughter could be heard.

They were still riding without getting bored.

“It sounds like fun. What are they doing?”

“You’ll see.”

When I opened the door, Quince, Emily, Ginny, and Kyle on Roof-sama greeted me with “Welcome back!”

Elfimia stared in a daze.

“So… what are they doing?”

“As you can see.”

“I don’t understand! Why is the board floating!? Why are the children riding it!?”

She grabbed my shoulders and shook me back and forth vigorously.

Judging by her reaction, it seems quite a rare ability. Also, it hurts, so please let go.

I invited her inside and offered some tea, explaining the situation.

“I see… so that’s what’s going on…”

Elfimia sighed, watching Roof-sama float.

During my absence, the play had evolved, and the riders were holding ropes while others pulled them.

They both looked like they were having fun.

“How rare is [Flight]?”

“Very. I don’t know much about magic tools, but I’ve never heard of one that can carry people.”

“Though it’s limited to small children. Even I couldn’t do it. Want to try?”

“No, thanks.”

She refused immediately.

Hmm… maybe it’s the weight.

She worries about that too, huh?

Though not as small as Liz, Elfimia is petite.

I think she might just make it—but, ah, that’s why.

Elfimia’s gaze turned sharp, so I quickly changed the subject.

“Then, it’s not good to let them play outside.”

“Yes, I think it’s better not to show it too much. Being the baron’s second son, no one would dare steal it—but just in case.”

“I’ll call in another one. Got it, we’ll keep it indoors.”

Being a baron, it could easily become a topic among the nobility. The outcome is obvious.

Quince and the others looked a bit disappointed, but they had no choice but to understand.

Emily even hugged Little Roof-sama when she heard it might be stolen.

She was almost hidden, with only her hands visible.

Given their enthusiasm, kids from the neighborhood would likely gather.

It’d turn into more than a nursery; it’d be an amusement park.

“So why did you call me? Isn’t this Professor Rakendale’s specialty?”

“Oh, right. I have another favor to ask.”

I whispered the abilities of Roof-sama and Little Roof-sama to her.

Elfimia gave a disbelieving look at the two boards.

“Just flying is rare enough—[Crisis Detection] and [Automatic Defense]? What are you doing? Why a board?”

“Don’t ask. Prioritizing [Durability Enhancement] led to this.”

“In other words, you want to test its performance.”

“Exactly. Can you transport it with the magic bag, Telper’s Bag?”

“Sure. I’m interested too.”

With Elfimia’s agreement, we decided to transport them to the forest using the magic bag, Telper’s Bag.

We could do it without, but carrying a big board would be conspicuous.

It might reveal Roof-sama’s existence.

Just as we were about to leave, “We’re here!” Ted and the others arrived.

Upon entering, they froze at the sight of Roof-sama floating.

They were so stunned they didn’t even notice Little Roof-sama.

“What is this!?”

“Perfect timing. Are you guys coming? It’s Roof-sama and Little Roof-sama’s first mission.”

Elfimia and I, along with the stunned Serade, and Quince and the others who insisted on joining, headed to the forest.
