Chapter 71 - Giving Him The Final Blow
"You know, when I first heard the story of Caeser, I laughed. Why would he have a friend like that, who betrayed him. And now, I just feel what Caeser felt that day. Except, I lived and he didn't.", Lucas said.
Peter did not say anything. His eyelids trembled, and his lips quivered. He wanted to say something but just couldn't bring himself to say it.
"And now, I will give you a fitting end for all of this.", Lucas said with a cold voice.
He got up with a heavy breath, and he took Peter by the shoulders. His hands dug deep into his shoulder, and used it as a grip. He turned Peter around, with Peter's back facing him.
"Good bye, Peter. I hope that maybe, in your next life, you don't make the same stupid mistakes.", Lucas sighed,
Splurt!
Peter glanced down. Near his chest, a furry hand could be seen. Within that hand was a heart, which was pumping. But the pumping was slowing down, and it came to a halt. Peter could not even scream. He did not have any energy, and the little that he did have was draining away quickly.
The hand then squeezed on the heart. It burst like a watermelon, but little to no blood came out of it. Lucas took his hand out of Peter's body and started shaking the blood off.
He took another glance at Peter's unmoving carcass.
"What a pity.", he sighed. He stood there unmoving. After a while, he tilted his head up to look at the ceiling.
He closed his eyes, and he could see the faces of all his past pack members. All of a sudden, he felt a drop of water by his cheeks.
Lucas could no longer hold it.
"Why?! Why did you have to take them from me?", Lucas howled in the air. It was so loud that it could have been heard from miles away if that was possible.
Lucas fell to the ground on his knees. Tears were gushing from his eyes, and he closed his eyes with his hands. He couldn't face the world right now. It felt foreign to him. Like he didn't belong in it.
Lucas felt a hand on his shoulder. He did not even flinch. He stood there, sobbing, and unmoving.
"You have seen enough loss. You know that they are going to a better place.", Praneeth said quietly.
"They aren't going to a better place, Praneeth. I have been there. Heaven is just a shitty place with a great title. This is where they belonged. With me. What about me? I will never be able to meet them again. I am not going to where they are, and you know it.", Lucas shouted.
"Why would you think that?", Praneeth said.
"What do you think? I killed hundreds of thousands. I barged into heaven without permission. I killed tens of priests. What do you think will happen after I die? Lucifer has been salivating for me for the past century.", Lucas said.
"What if you did something that could reverse all that?", Praneeth asked.
Lucas stopped sobbing. He wiped off his tears onto his sleeves and looked at Praneeth.
"Elaborate."
"Saving billions of souls. If you can play a part in that, then maybe even the big man up there might be inclined to give you a ticket.", Praneeth said.
"You want my help for stopping Ragnarok?", Lucas asked.
"Right. I didn't make myself clear. I NEED your help to stop Ragnarok from happening. And, this deal is extended to Fenrir as well. You might actually be free if you can help us out.", Praneeth said.
"You think that those cowards up there will give me a chance? I am destined to kill Odin. That is why that bastard locked me up in the first place, and I didn't even do anything that bad.", Fenrir growled from within Lucas.
"And all of that will change, as long as you listen to me, and help me. We have a world to save, and it is not going to save itself. I need your help to do this.", Praneeth said.
Lucas got up. He glanced at the council members. They were also looking towards him eagerly.
"Looks like all of you came together in this moratorium.", Lucas sighed.
"You didn't listen to me? I thought you can hear us from miles away.", Praneeth asked.
"Just- Fine. I will do it. But I also want in a good word from all of you to your gods. Especially you, Praneeth. Your words are going to be the most important because your words actually matter to the gods.", Lucas told Praneeth.
"Fine. We have a deal.", Praneeth nodded.
"My hand is too dirty to shake hands with you. I need to find a bathroom or something here so that I can wash up. I mean, this is an office right. They have to have some place to take a dump.", Lucas asked.
"And the one we love so much is back.", Michael laughed as he came forward and he attempted to hug Lucas.
"Hey, even the Lucas that you loved never hugged. Back off.", Lucas made some distance between the two of them.
"Fine. Alright.", Michael put his hands in the air.
"Now that this whole situation is over, can we focus on the important things at hand? We have a maniac who has been prepping for Ragnarok for god knows how long. She clearly has a big plan, and I am just afraid that everything until now went according to it. We need to know who backs her, except for Apophis of course, and we need to make sure that the Gods can block their support before we move in.", Praneeth said.
"Or, how about this. We just climb, and take this woman out now.", Lucas said.
"Yeah. That works for me.", Arthur nodded.
