The Birth Of A Villainess

Chapter 59 - A Letter For Their Rendezvous?

Lin Shen Yu hopelessly sighed, "You are truly vicious. Where was the cousin who would pout and stomp her foot when angered?"

"Dead." Lin Xiaofei told him honestly.

He crossed his arms and shook his head at the young lady in front of him. He didn't believe her claim and just shrugged it off.

Lin Xiaofei turned her back at him and deciding to walk away. It was her fault for even trying to convince the young man to leave her alone. But she only had him persistently follow her as she started to make her way back to her courtyard

"Cousin, do you like horseback riding?" Lin Shen Yu asked upon seeing a glimpse of the stable from the path they were taking.

Horseback riding? Lin Xiaofei thought as she remembered the times when she enjoyed riding a horse in the forest.

Because she was young and still free from the restrictions of being married to someone of high profile, she was able to do whatever she wanted to do like horseback riding, swimming in the lake, and shooting arrows.

But after marrying Yu Fangzhu, all the things that have been part of her normal life was taken away from her in order for her to perfect the image of a high noble concubine of a prince.

Taking note of where the stable was located, Lin Xiaofei thought it would be nice to go out and ride a horse outside once in a while.

------

Lin Xiaofei entered her courtyard and saw her maids standing before her door since ever since she started to take actions of her plans, she forbid anyone from going inside her room.

No matter how close or trusted Bai Lu and other maids looked to her, it'll be bad if she were to make a mistake and ended up ruining her plans.

Besides, if they were to know of her plan. They will instantly come to Lin Xiaomeng to report and stop her.

"Young miss, you're back!" Bai Lu happily greeted her and went to her young lady's side. Ever since she left to see the guests, she couldn't help but fear that her young lady will be bullied by others.

"En. I'm back." Lin Xiaofei answered and glanced at the closed door of her room, "Did something happen while I was gone?"

Shaking her head, Bai Lu told her, "Nothing, young miss. Aside from the servants and maids bouncing happily after receiving your reward, nothing happened."

"Alright, you can leave." Lin Xiaofei nodded her head to go inside her room. While her words implied for the maid to leave, the young maid only stayed a few meters outside the courtyard in order to wait and listen to her young lady's command.

Once Lin Xiaofei closed the doors behind her, she looked ahead and saw the child wasn't in sight. Creasing her eyebrows, she walked to the center and first thought that the child ran away.

But when she looked further ahead of her room, she saw a small figure was on top of her bed and his chest was moving up and down as the child was breathing peacefully with his eyes closed.

Lin Xiaofei asked herself if she stayed outside for too long for the child to sleep after waiting so long.

Without realizing that her tense and cold aura slipped off her body and gentle light and warm feeling already replacing it, she covered the sleeping child with the sheets.

The child must have been so tired after all the things that have happened to him and with the fact that she coerced him to burn the auction house, it might have drained his tiny body.

Lin Xiaofei did not awake the child and sat on the edge of the bed. Her small and pale hand softly patted the child's head.

If anyone were to come inside her room and see this scene before their eyes, they would have thought that a mother was trying to make her child sleep after a long night of nightmares.

After a while, Lin Xiaofei stood up from the bed and walked behind the screen divider to take a look at the contents of the box she got from Manager Liu.

Since she didn't have time to take a look at the contents outside because of how dangerous it was if someone were to see it or bump with her while she looked at it, Lin Xiaofei didn't dare take it out or open it.

The small hexagonal wooden box she got from Manager Liu was made from Agarwood and just from that, she could tell that the owner of the wooden box and the contents inside was extremely wealthy.

There were even gemstones above and around the wooden box. If she didn't know that a dangerous thing was lying inside the box, waiting for it to explode and kill everything around it, Lin Xiaofei would have thought that Manager Liu has given her a candy box or a box filled with jewelry.

Slowly and carefully, she lifted the lid with slightly tensed fingers. One mistake of her and the bomb inside would go off and take her life.

When the lid was lifted and the content inside was uncovered, the first thing that was seen was not the deadly weapon but a letter.

She was shocked at the presence of the letter above the bomb and hesitated to open it.

However, her curiosity about what was written inside and who wrote it made her snatch it from above the bomb and open it to read.

[-"On the first day of the Rabbit Moon festival, let us meet behind the Heavenly Pagoda."-]

These were the words written inside the letter. No name of the person who sent it was written, but Lin Xiaofei could somehow tell who it was after seeing the word 'Heavenly Pagoda'.

On the first day of the festival, high ranking nobles and officials from high to lower levels were invited to attend the ceremony inside the palace to signal the start of the festival.

While there wasn't anything wrong with that since Lin Xiaofei was one who was of high noble birth and had the Lin family behind her, what she wanted to know was why this 'person' wanted to meet with her in the small pagoda inside the palace.
