The Blue Eyes

Chapter 261 - I MISS YOU, MOM

They were on the same side? How could Grace Hasler say those lines so easily when she had treated him with such hostility all this time? The fierce lady suddenly appeared, and the next thing he heard from the lady was nonsense. Yes, that was nonsense in Kevin's ears.

Grace Hasler admitted that she was angry with his mother, even admitted that she hated him too. But suddenly, the short-haired woman told him that they were on the same side. Who would believe in such bullshit?

Kevin couldn't believe in the lady, but he remembered that they were not alone in his house. Steve was still there with them despite not saying anything, and Kevin knew that he should do something with the evil man.

Glaring at the taller man, Kevin then used his power to spread more ice over Steve's body. Ice carefully spread to the man's arm, and Grace noticed what the scientist was doing right now. She immediately widened her eyes.

"What are you doing, Kevin? Do you really want to kill him? Don't you want to interrogate him so you can find Kris's whereabouts?"

Kevin still spread the ice on Steve's body, freezing the man's body little by little from the hands to the rest of the body, but he could still glance at the head of the Intelligence Agency.

"Instant death is too easy for him. I won't kill him immediately."

Kevin looked cold and indifferent, and Steve was beyond terrified when the layer of ice started covering his neck and continued to go down until it froze his chest and his back. And it didn't stop there because it kept going down until its feet were frozen too.

Steve now looked like an ice sculpture with only his head that was not free from the ice.

Grace's hazel eyes widened as she observed how Kevin froze Steve's body. It was the first time for her to witness how Kevin used his powers, and she was astounded by how the ice powers worked.

Meanwhile, Kevin ignored Grace's gaze as he melted the ice around his hands. The layer of ice melted easily, and Kevin pulled his hands back while taking the gun from Steve's hand as well. Miraculously, only the ice around Kevin's hand melted, but not the ice around Steve's hand.

Steve couldn't help but widen his eyes even more when he saw how easily Kevin got off the ice.

"S-Sir! What are you planning to do with me? Please let me go!" Steve started to plead when he felt the coldness in his whole body. Even his lips looked pale and chapped from his low body temperature, and he could barely feel his body.

"I won't kill you," Kevin answered coldly. "I will give you one last chance, Steve. If you are willing to cooperate with me, then I won't kill you right away."

Steve didn't immediately respond as he seemed to be contemplating Kevin's conditions. He had his own plan, but he was under Kevin's palm now. He knew that Kevin hated him so much, and that man probably would kill him for real if he still insisted on executing his plan.

"I-I understand, Sir. I will cooperate with you, so please spare me!"

Kevin smirked at Steve before turning to Grace again. "If you don't have anything to say to me again, maybe you can leave, Mrs. Hasler. I still have to do something with this man."

Steve felt goosebumps upon hearing Kevin's statement. 'What is he planning to do with me?'

On the other hand, Grace looked puzzled after she got kicked out by Kevin. She seemed to be hesitant to leave the house, but she didn't have any reason to stay either.

Kevin noticed the dilemma, and he was curious about the short-haired lady. He couldn't trust the lady, but he still wanted to know the lady's plan. Grace was alone here, so he didn't see any harm even if he kept the lady in his house. That was why Kevin made a resolute decision in his heart.

"You said that you want to interrogate him, right? Fine. I will give you the opportunity to interrogate him, but I will interrogate you first. Do you agree with me or not, Mrs. Hasler?"

Grace knew that Kevin was not stupid, but the moment he called Kevin's name for the first time earlier, she knew that she had to reveal everything to Kevin tonight.

"Alright," the short-haired lady decided. "You can ask me anything you want to know."

Kevin's face remained calm, but he felt so relieved in his heart. He always believed that Grace Hasler was hiding something from him. He wasn't sure whether it was a good or bad thing, but he insisted on finding the truth about it tonight.

Nodding his head, Kevin then dragged Steve's frozen body to enter the house. The owner of the body looked panicked when he felt Kevin carelessly drag the body.

"W-wait, Sir! Don't you want to free me first? I've promised to tell everything to you, so can you please melt the ice?"

It looked like Kevin didn't care about the man's pleading as he kept dragging the man's body. Meanwhile, Grace Hasler just followed behind them in silence.

They were currently in Kevin's biological parents' house. Grace had known the house since she was young, but it was the first time for her to step her feet inside the big house.

When her legs arrived at the living room, they immediately stopped moving as the pair of eyes caught a sight that froze her whole body. There, on the side of the wall, a large golden photo frame hung proudly. In the frame were three figures, and Grace recognized them as Selena Beischel, Joseph Beischel, and Kevin Beischel.

There were three figures in the frame, but her brown eyes were fixated on the only woman in the frame.

'I miss you, Mom,' she lamented in her heart as her gaze was still fixed on the figure.
