The Blue Eyes

Chapter 285 - WHERE IS KRIS?

His eyes were moving beneath the blanket of his lids, and he felt uncomfortable in his sleep. He dreamed about many things. About the werewolf war last year, about the explosion on the island that killed his parents, about the latest werewolf war, and about the explosion in the buried valley.

He could see his late mother smiling at him, seeming to say something to him, but he couldn't catch the phrases uttered by the female professor.

But from the smile only, he could tell that his mother was in peace right now

He also could see his father's face. The old man didn't even say anything and just kept smiling at him, but Kevin knew that it was the man's way to apologize to him.

He wouldn't lie that he was angry with his father, but when he realized that he couldn't even see his father for the last time before the man died, he decided to return the smile. He realized that it was useless to hate someone that was no longer in the world.

But then he could hear an explosion, he could see fire, and he could hear screams. The last thing he could see was a silhouette of a man that looked so familiar to him.

The man seemed to be moving away from him, and even if he had reached out his hand toward the man, the man wasn't within his reach. He felt like crying, and he tried to scream, but no voice was produced by his mouth.

His eyes immediately flashed open, and his breath was raging.

"You're awake, Kevin?"

He could hear a familiar voice greet his sense of hearing, and he turned his head to the side. It was his mother who just questioned him. Yes, it was Charlotte Lowell.

Aside from the lady, Kevin could also see his adoptive father, Blue, Grace, Julia, Luke, and Casper. A small smile formed on his face when he saw those people who were so precious to him.

"I think we should call the doctor to check on Kevin's condition," Benjamin suggested, probably worried about his son because the said son remained silent.

Kevin finally turned his head to his father, and even if his body was still weak, he managed to reply, "I'm fine, Dad. I'm just happy to see you all here."

The people smiled upon hearing Kevin's soft statement. Kevin had slept quite a long time, and they were happy to see Kevin finally wake up.

"You got surgery yesterday, Kevin. I believed that you're strong enough to fight the bullet, but I was still worried about you," Charlotte spoke again while running her hand to caress the black locks that belonged to her son.

Hearing his mother's word, Kevin glimpsed at his left shoulder, and he found his shoulder was bandaged up to his torso. He wasn't wearing a shirt because of the existence of the bandages.

Now he remembered the event that caused him to be in a weak state now. His left shoulder was shot, and he couldn't use his powers temporarily. His body had weakened because he had used all of his powers, and the bullet made it worse.

But he was glad that he managed to escape death. But wait. He just realized that the person he loved the most was not in the room with the others.

"Where is Kris?" The young scientist immediately questioned the people.

His heart thumped loudly. He was with Kris before he passed out, but Kris was nowhere to be seen. Aside from the tanned man, Jack was not in the room as well.

Kevin remembered that he was with Kris and Jack before he completely lost his consciousness, but the two men were nowhere to be seen.

Kevin was nervous as he thought about the worst possibility. "Explosion..." his lips trembled as he whispered. "There was an explosion, right? Where is Kris now? He managed to escape the explosion, did he?

He remembered how Derek Dawson talk about a bomb before he passed out. A bad feeling devastated him, and when he gazed at the people in the room, they all displayed unreadable expressions on their faces.

"I think we should call a doctor to check on Kevin's condition," instead of answering Kevin's question, Grace came up with a suggestion.

"No," Kevin sternly replied. "I want to know where Kris is now, and you guys better give me an answer. I can't see Jack too, so where are they now?"

The stubbornness of the young scientist was not something new, and the people in the room had expected it.

However, there was also Luke in the room who was also known for his hardheadedness. "I will call a doctor first, and you can meet Kris afterward," he stated firmly.

"Are you sure I will be able to meet Kris afterward? Why do I feel that you guys are hiding something from me? Did anything happen to Kris?"

Luke was about to head to the door, but his steps halted upon hearing Kevin's question. He glanced at the people around him, and it seemed the people there were contemplating as to how they should explain the real situation to the weak scientist.

"You really don't want to let me know about Kris? Alright, I will find the answer myself!" Kevin was upset, and he even forced himself to get up from the bed.

However, his body had not fully recovered yet, and he ended up wincing in pain.

Charlotte looked worried as she held her son's hand. "We will tell you about Kris, Kevin. Please calm down," she finally gave in because she couldn't bear to see her son suffer.

Kevin's fierce gaze was on his mother before he sighed in surrender, "Alright. You can tell me about Kris. Don't hide anything from me!"

The pair of blue eyes scanned every living creature in the room, and Grace Hasler decided to come forward as she said, "You guessed it right, Kevin.. Something indeed happened to Kris."
