Chapter 60 - MORNING KISS
The eyeballs hidden behind the lids began to move as if a sign that the sleeping figure was about to open his eyes soon. And sure enough, the pair of eyelids adorned by long, curvy lashes slowly opened, revealing a pair of clear brownish-black beads.
A pair of eyes were immediately confronted with a room ceiling. A familiar room ceiling, which he was sure was in the house of his biological parents. His smooth forehead wrinkled in confusion.
He was in his old room in the house of his biological parents. But, how come? He clearly remembered last night he slept in his room, which was in the house of his adoptive parents.
'Since when did I move here?' The young man was puzzled inwardly.
Not long after, the raven-haired man found another strange thing. His stomach was heavy as if it was crushed by something. He turned his gaze further down and spotted a big arm wrapped around his stomach very tightly.
Turning his head to the left, he found a figure that was very familiar to him closing his eyes, that figure was fast asleep.
Kevin, the ebony-haired young man, smiled when he found Kris fast asleep beside him. It was almost the same position when he slept with Kris on a bed last night. The difference was that last night he was curled up in the werewolf's embrace, but this morning he slept on his back with the taller man hugged his stomach tightly.
Changes in sleeping position were common, but how could he move to this house without realizing it?
"Are you awake?"
Kevin heard a voice from beside him, but the eyes of the other man were still closed. Even so, Kevin knew very well that the voice belonged to Kris.
"Kris, why are we sleeping in this house instead of my foster parents' house?" Kevin couldn't stop himself from asking.
But, instead of answering verbally, Kris tightened his hug on Kevin's stomach, forcing the latter to change his sleeping position to face him. Their distance was now so close. Their sharp noses even touched each other.
Their postures were similar and their bodies were both tall—maybe only three to four centimeters apart, so when they slept together like that, they looked like twins.
"It's still morning. You better sleep a little longer," Kris spoke again with his hoarse voice.
Kevin glanced at the clock hanging on one side of the bedroom wall, then replied, "It's already 8 in the morning. I have to go to work."
Kris sighed tiredly, and finally he opened his eyes, which were still reluctant to open. "Did you forget that today is a holiday? Appreciate yourself for just a moment. Don't torture your body too much," the werewolf advised the young man, who had just officially started a relationship with him last night.
Ah, right. They had just officially been in a relationship. That was why they were still so intimate and sweet like that.
Kevin digested Kris's words while remembering what day it was, and it turned out Kris wasn't lying. Today was indeed a holiday.
"But, I still have to get up, Kris," Kevin insisted. "And, you still have to explain why we could sleep here," he added.
Kris sighed again, then decided to back down. "Okay, you won," he said. "I'll let you go after a morning kiss," he continued teasingly.
Kevin's face immediately flushed red at the terms Kris had just said. Unlike Kris, it looked like Kevin just remembered that they were officially in a relationship last night. After remembering that, Kevin's heart started beating faster as he became flustered.
"Stop trying your luck, Kris. I'm not going to kiss you because you smell bad," said the young scientist while gently pushing Kris's broad chest. Actually, he did it just to cover up his nervousness.
Kris chuckled, and he immediately showered Kevin's face with kisses. "Yes, I do smell bad, and I want you to smell like me too," he said as he continued to kiss every inch of Kevin's face.
Kevin started laughing because of Kris's actions. He continued to rebel and begged Kris to stop, and soon Kris granted his request. He stopped his actions and immediately sat on the bed.
Kevin, with a contrived expression of disgust, rubbed his face with his hand as if he was trying to erase the trace the werewolf had just left.
"You're really cute when you just woke up," Kris teased with a chuckle.
"Stop teasing me!" Kevin protested to hide his bashfulness. He threw a pillow at Kris, but unfortunately, the werewolf had good reflexes so he could catch the scientist's throw.
Kevin grunted in loathing, then lifted himself up to sit. That was when he felt something strange about his body. "Kris, what did we do last night? Why does my body feel sore and I also feel a little tired?" He asked while massaging his sore waist.
Kris was a bit taken aback by the question, but before long, he covered up his shock and immediately grinned naughtily. Without warning, he jumped to hug Kevin's waist. "So, you forgot what we did last night?" The man asked back while pretending to be disappointed.
Kevin frowned. He tried to remember what happened last night but found nothing.
"I just remember we slept in the same bed, but I don't remember what happened after that," the black-haired man answered.
Unknown to Kevin, Kris secretly let out a sigh of relief. He then once again kissed Kevin's forehead, which was slightly covered by his bangs, then released his hug from his lover's slim waist.
"I intended to tease you, but you're too innocent so I can't bear it. Nothing happened last night. You just stayed fast asleep until morning. The nickname Sleeping Beauty is just right for you, isn't it?"
Kris was not completely lying, he had intended to tease Kevin because the young scientist's question sounded ambiguous, but the main purpose of the teasing was to distract Kevin. Just in case the scientist still remembered the terrible incident last night.
However, because Kevin didn't remember anything, he canceled his intention. So, you could say that Kris was half lying.
"Stop teasing me!" This time, Kevin hit Kris with his thick blanket. "Now, tell me why we slept in this house! You've been changing the subject since earlier, and that made me suspicious," he continued as he narrowed his eyes with a skeptical expression.
It looked like Kris couldn't help anymore and had to answer that question.
"There was a robber who broke into your house last night. Your door is badly damaged and hasn't been repaired yet. I was worried if the robber would come back, so I decided to bring you here."
Kevin looked shocked to hear Kris's explanation. "Really? There was a robber in my house? But, why didn't I wake up? And, why didn't you wake me up before we moved here?" The genius scientist asked the questions one after another.
It seemed that Kris had prepared the best answers to those questions, so he confidently replied, "You're such a heavy sleeper, so you didn't wake up even though your house was robbed. I didn't have the heart to wake you either, so I just picked up your body and moved here."
Kevin frowned, trying to analyze Kris's answer. The werewolf had lied to him too many times, so he wouldn't easily believe him. "Did you beat the robber? Is there any valuables missing?" He then asked again.
Kris wanted to say: 'I didn't beat him. It was you who nearly killed him!' But, he swallowed it whole because he didn't want to scare Kevin. If Kevin knew who he really was and what power he had, he would have been terrified.
"Yes, I beat him. And don't worry, nothing was lost because he immediately ran away after receiving my hard kick."
When in fact, it was Kevin's hard kick that caused him to run away. And, the "he" in the sentence was not a robber either. Kris clearly recognized who "he" was last night.
Kevin finally nodded, seeming to believe in Kris's explanation. "But, I still have to go home. My goldfish must be hungry now."
Kris was dumbfounded. "You still think of your goldfish at a time like this?" Asked the werewolf in disbelief.
"So what? Didn't the robber run away? It's okay if we come back now, isn't it?"
Kris wanted to slap his forehead hard because Kevin really couldn't read the situation. The taller man deliberately moved Kevin to this house because he didn't want to let Kevin see the chaos caused by Jack in his house last night.
Kevin was smart even though he was too innocent at times. If he saw the kind of damage that the front door of his house had suffered, he would have immediately guessed that it was not human doing.
Apart from that reason, Kris assumed that this house owned by Kevin's biological parents was safer because Jack didn't know about this house.
"I have a better idea," Kris tried to provide a solution. "I'll go over to your house to get your goldfish, then I'll bring them here so you can feed them. You wait here and I'll be right back. Better idea, right?"
Kevin looked dubiously at Kris, who at this time looked suspicious. Squinting his eyes, the scientist then asked, "Why do you look like you don't want me to go to my house?"
