The Blue Eyes

Chapter 71 - THE WAR WILL BEGIN

"I don't know Kevin's surname. I only know that he is a scientist in Serein city and has a close relationship with Blue," Jack finally answered Joseph's question.

The professor's question surprised him, but he answered the question honestly. He had never conducted a specific investigation on Kevin. He only investigated Blue because he was only given the task of bringing Blue to them. He didn't expect that the information about Kevin would be important.

Joseph was silent at Jack's answer. His legs felt weak, and his body slightly unsteady if only his bodyguard didn't hold his arm to keep him from falling.

"Could it be your son? I've heard the news that your son has become a scientist in town, but I didn't know that the 'Kevin' Jack was referring to was your son," Mike spoke up because Joseph didn't make a sound after Jack answered his question.

Mike could see that Joseph was in a deep shock after hearing the facts that he hadn't expected at all. Talking about Kevin brought a big impact on the professor's psychological condition.

Joseph remained wordless, so Mike finally turned to Jack, who looked perplexed. "Why do you think that Professor Selena kept Professor Joseph's formula in Kevin's body?" The leader of the werewolves asked what had made him curious.

Mike's question made Jack nervous. It seemed that he made the wrong decision by not telling Mike about Kevin's mysterious form when he intended to prey on the human. At that time, he ignored the oddity because he thought they were insignificant and had nothing to do with their purpose.

But, everything had already happened. A rock that had been broken was destined to break. Perhaps, he too was destined to make the big mistake that he messed things up. If only he had told the leader straight away, maybe the ending would be different. Now, he had no other choice but to say everything honestly.

Jack started telling what happened when he was going to eat Kevin a few weeks ago. The tattooed man stated that Kris wasn't the one who prevented him from completing the mission. Kevin himself was the one who beat him until he laid helplessly on cold asphalt.

The confession made Mike chortle bitterly. Jack had not told him the truth some time ago.

Jack continued his story by telling how Kevin suddenly turned into a blue-eyed and white-haired man, and how Kevin also had long, sharp fangs and nails, just like the werewolves had. The story shocked both Mike and Joseph.

Finally, Jack also told how great Kevin's power was. He said that Kevin's body was enveloped in the same blue aura as Blue's, but felt much stronger. Kevin was very fast and strong, making him had to go back to the island bearing injuries and shame.

"So, that's the story," Jack ended his story by bowing his head in embarrassment.

He lied to the leader a few weeks ago, and now he was being judged for his lie. That was the punishment for a sycophant.

"You didn't tell me something as important as that?" Mike seemed furious as he raised his voice. "I thought I could count on you, Jack!"

Jack was unable to reply to the leader's words and still kept his head down. His behavior made Mike sigh. His right hand went up to massage his aching head.

"The story makes sense," suddenly, Joseph spoke again after a long time he locked his lips tightly. "Selena deliberately trapped us by putting a fake formula into Blue's body. She knew that we were after Blue, so she did that. Even so, I never expected that she would use her own son to hide the formula."

For decades, Selena had faithfully accompanied him. Selena often expressed her protest to him. She had never agreed with his plan related to werewolves, but he didn't expect that it was her who took baby Blue away seventeen years ago.

He thought that Selena died while baby Blue was accidentally rescued by the human soldiers after the explosion occurred.

["We have no other choice than to blow up this place," Joseph said to Mike, who was standing by his side.

He glanced at his wife, who was standing quite far from them. The gunshots sound was heard. He was certain that the situation outside was tense.

"You don't have to worry, Professor. I can protect you with my power. I can help you leave this place alive."

Joseph turned to Mike again and nodded his head. He peered at Selena for a second before taking out his walkie-talkie. He instructed the soldiers to blow up the laboratory.]

The place where Selena was standing suffered more damage than the place where he and Mike standing, so he thought Selena died at that time. Baby Blue was in a relatively safer place, but when he wanted to take the baby away, the human soldiers rushed into that place. He didn't have any other choice other than run away with Mike without the baby.

"So, what should we do now? The formula in your son's body seems to have awakened now. Do we have to kidnap Kevin to extract the formula?"

Joseph didn't answer Mike right away. It seemed that he was making careful considerations regarding his next plans. He shouldn't be reckless. If he took the wrong step, everything would be ruined.

"The formula. No matter how hard I tried to make it and how long I tried to create it again, I still couldn't create the same formula. That's why I insisted on getting it back these seventeen years. But, that woman put the formula into her own son's body even though she knew that her son would die if the formula in his body was extracted."

Joseph's explanation startled the spectators. Only Mike and Joseph's bodyguard didn't look surprised.

"So," Jack suddenly spoke again. "You guys intended to kill Blue from the start if the formula was in Blue's body?"

Joseph gave Jack a disdain look. "Of course, I had to do that even though Blue had to die afterward. Unfortunately, none of that happened because the formula in Blue's body is just a fake."

The answer made the expression on Jack's face change. He didn't expect that they planned to kill Blue from the start, whether she was willing to join them or not. They were only aiming for the formula. They didn't want Blue because she was just a host. All they wanted was the starch stored in that host.

"I'm not Selena." Joseph turned to look at Mike. "I will not sacrifice my own son to achieve my goals. Besides, I've found another formula that we can use to increase your power. It's not as strong as the one in Kevin's body, but it will make all of you stronger."

Mike nodded in understanding, and the other werewolves also decided to accept everything Joseph ordered. Joseph had been experimenting to create various types of formulas for them, and those formulas had succeeded in making them evolve and become stronger. So, they approved the idea if Joseph wanted to re-inject a new formula into their bodies.

"The circumstances are like this now. Are we going to attack the city right away according to our original plan?" Mike finally asked.

"We'll use Plan B. Delay the attack time by a few days. Now, we have to rearrange what we're going to do. We will absolutely risk everything on our last attack."

The atmosphere in the place suddenly grew tenser after Joseph finished speaking. They were far outnumbered by humans, and the greatest power that came from Joseph's secret formula did not fall into their hands. Attacking in that state would be suicidal, but they had no other choice. They had to fight tooth and nail with all the things they had.

"I'm going back to town, and you come with me, Jack. We have to get our ammunition ready. Hopefully, we can get more ammunition in a few days."

Jack nodded understandingly at the professor's instructions. Mike also nodded, permitting Jack to go to town to follow Joseph. Just like Mike, Joseph also had a lot of faith in Jack. The professor even considered Jack like his own son.

Before leaving the place, the professor stared at the werewolves' faces one by one. They all looked sluggish and lackluster. There was a sense of doubt on their faces, and there was also a hint of fear there. Of course, they were afraid because they had to fight the humans without the great power they had been expecting.

The professor noticed the anxieties and said, "You don't need to be afraid and hesitant. I still have a secret weapon that will help us defeat the humans. Raise your heads and be strong!"

Joseph, with a passionate voice, encouraged his people. He had led them all with Mike for decades, so he had no trouble understanding their feelings. There used to be a lot of them and they were all very confident, but now there were only a handful of them and the flames of their spirits were nearly extinguished.

But, what Joseph just said seemed enough to make them feel better. They immediately raised their heads again and smiled positively at the professor. Joseph smiled back at a glance before he left the place. Jack and the bodyguard followed him closely

The atmosphere on the island was quiet and peaceful, but it seemed that such an atmosphere would soon be felt in the city as the war between werewolves and humans was about to begin.
