The Cursed Prince

Chapter 215 - Picnic

"Your Grace, you should have asked. I will pour the wine for you," Ivy pouted a little when she saw Edgar pour wine for himself and down his cup.

The girl was around 21 years old, with a slender build and curly blond hair. Her hazel eyes were big and round and her luscious lips were naturally pink. She was wearing a beautiful blue dress that happened to match Edgar's shirt.

Both actually looked good together, except for the fact that Edgar seemed to feel uncomfortable by Ivy's boldness.

"Lady Ivy is right," Gewen said with a chuckle. He raised his cup and motioned Georgina to pour him wine. The pretty girl sitting almost on his lap smiled coyishly and took the wine jug to pour him wine. "Thank you, Lady Georgina. You are so sweet."

Gewen rewarded her by giving her a peck on her lips, which made her giggle non-stop.

Emmelyn just watched the scene while rolling her eyes. She knew exactly what Gewen was doing by bringing those girls to their picnic.

He didn't want to lose out to the married men. He must be jealous of seeing Athos and Mars being lovey-dovey with their wives.

However, Gewen didn't want to have a wife on his own. Why would he do that? He could get anyone to come and play the lovey-dovey act with him too. No need to bind himself in marriage.

And the reason why he involved Edgar in his little game was that he was worried Edgar would follow in Mars's footsteps.

If the man who never touched any woman in his life suddenly could bind himself to one in holy matrimony, Edgar who didn't have any issues getting a wife might do the same thing soon and leave him, Gewen, as the only bachelor in their group.

It wouldn't be fun anymore.

Emmelyn now felt sorry for Lady Rose Athibaud, Gewen's mother.

She knew the Duchess badly wanted to have grandchildren from her son, but Gewen was never interested in a committed relationship. He might never marry anyone.

"Are they always like this?" Emmelyn leaned on her husband and whispered. "By they, I meant Gewen."

Mars nodded. "Yeah. That's why I don't like taking you to hang out with them. Gewen would always have two or three girls on his lap."

At that moment, Emmelyn felt a strong urge to smack Gewen for his bad influence. What if he would shove girls to her husband in the future just like what he was doing now to Edgar?

Emmelyn knew Mars was a good man and he loved her, but he was just a human who might fall to temptation. Uuughhhh....!

Now, when she thought about it again, wasn't it quite heartless on Gewen's part to keep having girls around him when the men all hung out for a drink in the tavern, knowing that his best friend couldn't touch a woman?

So heartless!

Did he get satisfaction from his showing off what he could have to the poor man who could only watch and didn't do anything?

Ugghhhhhh... Emmelyn now felt so sorry for Mars who could only hold back his envy whenever Gewen was parading his sexual conquests.

Mars saw Emmelyn looking upset and could kind of guess what was in her mind. He moved closer and whispered in her ear, "I am used to it and I actually find it funny. You don't have to feel upset for me. It's just Gewen being Gewen. He is harmless. Don't think too much about it."

Emmelyn glanced at Gewen with pouted lips. She would love to see Gewen someday fall head over heels with a decent woman who knew her worth and rejected him flatly.

Then, he would reflect on his past behaviors, and maybe.. just maybe, he would change.

Gosh... that seemed unlikely tho.

So far, all women she saw were hovering around Gewen like flies on rotten fruit.

They just wanted to throw themselves at him and have his babies, which was understandable, because who wouldn't what to have cute babies from such a good bucket of genes?

In this context, Ellena seemed not too bad. She was the only girl that Emmelyn saw who didn't show any romantic interest in Gewen.

Welp.. but that was because she was interested in Emmelyn's husband.

Uff... if only Ellena was not her enemy, Emmelyn actually would love to see her conquer Gewen and marry the womanizer. Everyone would live happily ever after. Right?

Emmelyn tried to get rid of those thoughts from her mind. She and Mars were on their unofficial 'honeymoon'. They should use this time to have fun, surround themselves with only good and positive vibes.

She had even let go of the thoughts about Killian in order for her to enjoy their honeymoon without distraction.

All right, Emmelyn, better focus on your husband, your baby, and the Greenans who were here to celebrate your happiness together. Don't mind Gewen and his antics and don't mind Ellena.

After she repeated those words in her head like a mantra, Emmelyn felt better and she could enjoy their picnic completely.

The servants served delicious dishes for them. The girls took turns pouring wine for Edgar and Gewen, while the married men poured wine for their wives.

Athos saw his wife was busy with their baby and Mars really didn't want to let his wife do any work since she was pregnant. That's why they volunteered to do the job of taking care of their spouses without being asked.

The contrast made Emmelyn's heart feel warm. She was grateful that she married a good man. She saw many other men treated their wives like their personal servants after they got married, including her own father.

That was why Queen of Wintermere was always tired. In addition to always being pregnant in her first ten years of marriage and then giving birth to seven children, she also had to serve and care for her husband's needs.

It was one of the reasons why Emmelyn never felt her mother had enough energy to care for her or her siblings.

Now, she was grateful to see that her husband seemed to have good role models around him.

King Jared treated Queen Elara like the queen that she was. Athos was a hands-on father and caring husband.

Now, Emmelyn could already see her future with Mars together. They would be a good team and be good parents for their children.
