Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Yu Qingxian found it quite spectacular to see all those zombies heading towards the broadcasting room.
The roaring sounds they made didn't make Yu Qingxian uncomfortable, as expected.
It seemed that with death, their social anxiety had diminished somewhat.
Of course, this only applied to these zombies.
After all, these zombies wouldn't actively engage in conversation with her.
Even if she initiated a conversation with them, they wouldn't pay her any attention.
Yu Qingxian looked at the zombies gathering downstairs and wondered if those people had escaped.
But this was all she could do.
When she was human, her physical strength was just average.
Even though she didn't get tired after becoming a zombie, it didn't mean she was skilled in combat.
And she still had to go on a journey.
---
Yu Qingxian attracted these zombies and when she saw them eagerly looking upstairs, she came out of the broadcasting room.
Looking at those zombies growling and demanding food, Yu Qingxian simply clasped her hands together and said, "I'm sorry, there is no food here, but if you stay here for a while, it shouldn't be a problem, right?"
As she spoke, she turned and walked downstairs.
The zombies had already climbed up the building.
But they ignored Yu Qingxian and continued going up.
Yu Qingxian felt a bit helpless.
Although she led them here and they didn't even get a meal, it was indeed somewhat unethical.
But killing is against the law.
Although they were all zombies, they were good zombies and didn't engage in acts of violence.
Yu Qingxian squeezed out of the pile of zombies and didn't take the main road.
If those people were waiting outside the town to see if anyone left and saw her, it would be disastrous.
So Yu Qingxian sneaked out like a thief, climbing over the walls of one house and then another.
And it was nighttime, so even if those people had night vision binoculars, they wouldn't be able to see her.
It was really troublesome being in this corpse.
Yu Qingxian finally crawled out of this small town, but as soon as she left the town, she noticed a figure at a gas station.
This startled Yu Qingxian, and she immediately pulled her head back.
Why were there still people in this place?
She remembered she had left the town in the opposite direction of those people.
How did they end up here?
Fortunately, her current zombie nose was sharper than a dog's.
Otherwise, she would have bumped into them.
Could these people really be here to intercept her?
Without looking back, Yu Qingxian ran away, feeling somewhat relieved.
But now she hoped these people would also run without looking back.
They were really in the way.
Yu Qingxian cautiously took a detour and quietly climbed onto the highway from the gas station.
She stood on the highway and could still hear the broadcast from the town.
As for the people at the gas station, Yu Qingxian didn't plan to bother with them.
She had already helped once; the rest was up to them.
With that in mind, Yu Qingxian adjusted her backpack and continued forward.
She headed south to avoid the survivor base in China.
There were quite a few survivor bases in China.
Many of them were built on the foundations of military bases.
For example, the survivor base in K City was a converted military base.
It originally had tall, sturdy walls.
Plus, with a military presence, it naturally served as a good refuge.
Of course, these refuges were only temporary.
If a tide of corpses broke out, they wouldn't be able to hold out.
Therefore, China is currently constructing larger and safer bases.
However, this has nothing to do with Yu Qingxian.
---
As the first ray of sunlight emerged from the horizon, Yu Qingxian squinted her eyes.
Although it was only seven o'clock in the morning, the heat wave had already hit.
But at the moment, Yu Qingxian could still bear this temperature.
There was a town nearby, so she couldn't use an umbrella.
If someone saw her, they would probably come up and ask countless questions.
However, as Yu Qingxian walked and stopped, she noticed that the number of cars on the highway gradually decreased.
It seemed that there would be no more vehicles blocking her path ahead.
The next exit was still thirty kilometers away.
And she needed to change direction and head west.
Just as she was about to turn west, the sound of a vehicle made Yu Qingxian crouch down and peeked half of her head over the highway, where she saw a slightly worn-out bus speeding along the national road.
The bus had over a dozen people on board, with several zombie dogs trailing behind.
Although they had turned into zombies, these zombie dogs were surprisingly fast.
Yu Qingxian couldn't help but take out her camera and snapped a photo of the scene.
Since she was on a hiking trip, she wanted to capture everything she encountered along the way.
If she were still human, she probably wouldn't have the interest to admire such things.
Just as Yu Qingxian finished taking the photo and was about to stand up, several gunshots forced her head down again.
She looked towards the approaching off-road vehicle.
The vehicle was very familiar.
She had even laid in the trunk of that vehicle yesterday.
It was Gu Wanqing's car.
And the gunshots came from Gu Wanqing's car.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
Every shot hit its mark, resulting in headshots.
The zombie dogs were sent flying off the road due to their speed.
With no more threats, the bus in front slowed down, and when the off-road vehicle caught up to it, the bus stopped.
Because there was some distance between them, Yu Qingxian couldn't hear what they were saying.
But from the expressions of the people on the bus, she could tell that they were probably thanking Gu Wanqing.
Gu Wanqing glanced at the bus.
Then her gaze locked onto something.
She bypassed the front of the car and got in.
Yu Qingxian was a bit curious about what Gu Wanqing was going to do.
Although she didn't particularly like humans, Gu Wanqing, who left flowers on her grave, was quite likable to Yu Qingxian.
In this era, it was rare for someone to show kindness to a stranger.
Gu Wanqing got into the bus, and chaos ensued inside the vehicle.
Yu Qingxian squinted her eyes and looked at the bus. Then she saw Gu Wanqing throwing a person out of the car window.
The person lay on the ground motionless.
Then, suddenly, they stood up and lunged at the young man who was following Gu Wanqing.
The young man had a long knife on his back.
So the person who pounced on him had half of their head directly chopped off by the young man.
Clearly, there were infected individuals on the bus.
But these infected individuals concealed their injuries.
The people who got off the bus were shocked to witness this scene.
They never expected that there would be infected individuals on their bus.
If it weren't for this young girl who came with people to catch up, they would probably all be dead.
Not only the driver was shocked.
Even Yu Qingxian felt that Gu Wanqing was really amazing.
Of course, the more powerful Gu Wanqing was, the further Yu Qingxian wanted to stay away from her.
Otherwise, it would really come to blows, and Yu Qingxian felt like he wouldn't even have a chance to explain himself before his head would be chopped off.
So it's better to make a run for it first.
This commotion is unbearable to watch.
Yu Qingxian shifted to the other side of the highway before standing up.
Gu Wanqing and her friends can't see him from this position.
But as soon as she turned around, she was startled by the group of zombies in the distance.
Goodness, there must be thousands of them, densely packed together.
I don't know if it's because of the gunshots.
But because the highway on this side is obstructed by the overpass, plus there's a bend in the road.
So from Gu Wanqing's position, they couldn't see that the horde of corpses had already attacked.
Yu Qingxian raised his hand and rubbed his forehead.
To save or not to save, that is the question.
