Chapter 195: Saving someones life takes less effort than drinking water?
Faced with such a nonchalant question, the adventurers hesitated. If they tried to leave the dungeon with the girl in her current state, surviving would be hard, but there would still be a chance. However, if they trusted this man in front of them, maybe she could live, but who knows what might happen. Although the beautiful woman had saved them earlier, they couldn't trust her.
Why would these two people be so inclined to help them? Was it out of the kindness of their hearts, or was there something more to this?
To believe they were saved out of kindness would be naive, and even if that could be the case, they would never assume that to be the truth. Ark could discern that they didn't trust him pretty easily, and since that was the case, he decided to just do it whether they wanted him to do so or not.
Saving someone ungrateful or hateful was one thing, but these people were just cautious, he would behave more or less the same way they did if he was in their situation.
Either way, Ark didn't have the time to just stand here and try to convince them that he wasn't bad guy that wanted to harm them or anything since that would probably make him seem even more sketchy. As they were looking warily at him, Ark suddenly released an enormous amount of mana.
To the adventurers, the pressure was pretty immense, and they instantly realised that he was speaking the truth earlier, he really could've killed them as easily as killing a few chickens. The question now was, was he really going to kill them? Did they annoy him with their excessive cautiousness?
As they were in the midst of pondering and borderline despair, gentle holy light started to emanate from Ark's body, before making its way towards the three adventurers. As they were bathed in the holy light, all of their small injuries instantly disappeared, and their pain along with them.
Dumbfounded, they just watched as the arrow that was stuck inside one of the adventurers dissolved into nothing, before the wound was closed almost immediately.
Seeing the three dumbfounded adventurers, Ephine was feeling a little smug. To be frank, she had been a little annoyed when they were doubting Ark earlier, so seeing them being dumbfounded and a bit embarrassed made her mood a bit better. As for why she felt smug, she didn't really know the reason either.
As they were all thinking about god knows what, Ark reeled his mana back in, and his imposing bearing returned to that of a normal young man. Although they were dumbfounded, they were not ungrateful or anything, just surprised. The older of the two girls hastily stood up after checking her younger sister's injuries to express her gratitude.
"Uhm, thank you for saving us just now, and sorry if we didn't trust you or anything like that, it's just-"
"Don't worry about it, I understand." Ark didn't feel like listening to their reasoning, so he cut her off before she could even start explaining, he wasn't bothered by it.
Seeing his dismissive attitude, the girl felt a little at ease. Even though his behaviour might be a little cold, it would be weird if it wasn't. Luckily he wasn't mad at least, that was all that mattered right now. At this point, the other two adventurers had regained their bearings as well, but they were both a little fidgety. Unsure of what to do, the older sister just decided to introduce them.
"My name's Lillia, and that's my little sister Lily, thank you so much for saving us! Oh, and that's our friend Kanan."
"Thank you!" At this point, both Kanan and Lily spoke up at the same time. Seeing them introduce themselves so eagerly, Ephine took a step forward.
"You don't have to thank us, we just had nothing better to do, and my name is Ephine."
Ark was a little surprised, he was usually the one who introduced Ephine, but this time she did it on her own initiative. As he was concentrating a bit on her gentle smile, he suddenly noticed that everyone was looking at him. After a second of confusion, he suddenly realised why everyone was watching him, and he just quickly blurted out his name.
"Ark."
After he just stated his name without any further introduction or anything, the atmosphere quickly became awkward. Ark wanted to just leave, since they had already been in the dungeon for long enough today, but he felt like it would be awkward if he just said that all of a sudden. As he was thinking about an eloquent way to say it, both he and Ephine seemed to sense something at the same time.
"Seems like Atar and Thufrat are getting bored." Ephine suddenly said.
"Yeah I guess it's time to leave." Ark agreed with her.
To the adventurers, the conversation made no sense at all, since they had no idea what they were talking about. That confusion quickly disappeared though when two silhouettes soon made their way towards them from the dark forest. As a dwarf and a child entered their sights, they put two and two together and assumed that these two were Atar and Thufrat.
Both of them looked a little tired and bored, but Atar's eyes glistened at the sight of Ephine and Ark. As they all started chatting with each other, the three adventurers just stood awkwardly by the side, not sure what to do. After catching up with each other, they decided to leave the dungeon, and since the three adventurers were pretty drained of energy and still a bit weak, they left together.
Although it was a bit awkward at first, the two sisters were able to talk to Ephine pretty easily, whilst the young man just walked silently. It wasn't like he had done anything, but Ark didn't have anything to talk to him about, and Atar was just a child, so the atmosphere amongst the guys was a little odd.
The trip out of the dungeon was pretty carefree, as they only encountered a few undead, which were all killed in a single strike without exception by Ark.
Although the three adventurers knew he was strong, seeing his strength for themselves was still a little different, and they had to admit that it was a little scary to travel with someone that could easily kill them, but they seemed like reasonable people, and he was their saviour after all.
The older sister Lillia seemed to get along really well with Ephine, which was something that Ark was happy to see, since she didn't actually have any friends, and Ark knew that it was probably a bit different to have a woman to talk to.
Although Kanan didn't really fit in that well with them at first, that was also mainly because of his nervousity. After he had eased up a little, he could participate in the conversations a bit, and they got along fine. Atar was in his own little world, and mostly ran around on his own, doing whatever he wanted.
Like so, their party of four suddenly became seven, and their trip to the dungeon ended on a good note.
