Chapter 105 - The Modified Technique
"This jade locket…" her voice trailed off as her thoughts wandered to the old weapon master. That man, that old man was a big mystery.
He could come inside and go outside the protective barrier of the eternal blossom Sect without being caught or without facing any trouble.
From the looks of it, he was indeed someone who was powerful but also someone whose background and character was questionable.
'But, who cares what he is,' she thought to herself with a sigh. She really was not worried about it. All that mattered was that he was strong, powerful and easy to get along with.
As long as he could help her and teach her, she was fine with anything.
Plus, the jade locket which was identified as a really sacred treasure was also given to her by Master Yi Feng. It acted as a manifestation of the trust between them.
Well that was what she thought and hoped. She had no idea about the other party.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the wall, where Elder Mo had vanished in to was eerily silent.
…..
After going through the passageway, Elder Mo took some time to scan the surrounding. Although the place was properly sealed by charms and talismans, there was no loss in being a little careful around there.
He had not been in here for more than 500 years. He doubted anyone had been here in all these time. It was an isolated underground place in the sect that had been left unused and uncared for.
'The seal is weakening,' he mumbled lightly when he felt the barrier that protected this whole place slowly eroding away.
His slow but light footsteps were the only thing which could be heard in the whole place. Except for the sound of his feet, there was nothing alive or moving in that space.
It truly felt detached from the alive and enchanting environment of the outside.
After walking in darkness for a while, he finally reached where he was trying to go. But before that, he was faced with three tunnels that went in three different directions. These three directions led to three different secret chambers in the underground palace.
At the moment, he only needed to go to the place where the ancient scrolls and manuals were kept. They were mostly written in ancient languages which had almost gone extinct with the war between the formless and demons centuries ago.
Many immortals who could read the language perished in the war, or simply lost their cultivation base and died like a mortal.
Thinking about the painful memories from the past, his eyes reddened a bit while a bit of hatred and anger surfaced in his eyes. No matter how long time had passed, he could never forget the pain and injuries inflicted by that war.
More than the physical pain, he was more injured by the loss of his fellow brothers and sisters. There was a reason why he did not go out often.
He hated the feeling of attachment and the pain it brought. He did not want to associate with anyone or anything that could make him emotionally unstable.
He had a long life to live and the pain did not fade away with time. Instead of being tormented by useless emotions, he had wanted to stay away from other and prevent getting close to them.
Why?
Well, it was simple. He wanted no one to approach him and make him feel shitty.
But!!
It all came crumbling down when the girl called Le Fang Ling came strolling inside the library with that innocent look on her face.
She reminded him so much of his senior sister who disappeared into thin air more than 1000 years ago. Although this girl called was a little bit of dimwit and looked easy to take advantage of, there was something peculiar about her soul force.
He had thought that maybe it was his illusion that she looked like that to him but the feeling and suspicion inside him became much clearer to him when her pet, that Nagina girl appeared in front of him today.
Her soul force and spirit energy felt so much like his senior sister from past that he even wanted to believe for a bit that she was indeed her.
But!! There was a small catch to all this.
He sensed another energy in her. There was something sinister living inside her and it flowed in her veins along with that familiar energy.
"Well, all of this might be my illusion. I must be getting near my death bed." He said with a slight snicker on his face as he chose to go to the left side of the tunnel. It was the path that could lead him to where he wanted to go.
The formless were capable of destroying even the soul of a human. They devoured even the nothingness and left nothing behind.
He doubted, his senior sister even made it to the wheel of reincarnation as the chance of escaping from them was almost equal to void.
The scroll he was going to give to her was given to him by that very senior sister of him. He never knew what her cultivation base was or what even she cultivated.
But, when he was finding trouble with training his dual element based spiritual roots, she helped him modify the old technique that he was practicing.
He was not sure if the girl could get some things that were written in ancient language there but it did not matter. As long as she was worthy of the technique of wind element based qi cultivation, she was bound to find one way or the other.
"And if she really is like what I had suspected, I am sure…" his voice trailed off in a whisper as he entered a new formation.
By this moment he had reached a big door that was locked securely with a few formations for the sake of safety.
Well, that did not include him since he was one of the very few high level cultivators who placed the charm on the door.
He made a few signs with his fingers while closing his eyes and huffed out a light breathe. A small puff of air came out of his mouth.
Although it was small and puny, as soon as it came in contact with the floating seal in front of the door, the seal immediately vanished in this air leaving an open pathway for him.
With a slight command form his fingers, the two heavy chunks of the metal separated from each other as they opened with a light creaking sound.
"Much better…" he nodded his head in satisfaction. He placed both of his arms behind him and walked inside the room in long strides.
As soon as he was inside the door, the door automatically closed with a loud bang. The seal and formation which had been destroyed before reappeared on the door as if nothing had happened at all.
…
Once inside the dark room, he snapped his fingers. As soon as he was done, the entire place was illuminated by a greenish blue fire. There were a few fire holding torches on the wall and pillar of the room.
The fire that was in his fingers disappeared and reappeared in those fire torches in a flash of an eyes. This provided a better vision of the room they were at.
It was an understatement to call it a room. It was as big as the royal court of a king.
The room starched as far as his eyes could see with a small pathway in between.
In either side of the room, there were chunks of documents, old parchments and scrolls piled up one after the other.
Most of them appeared dirty since they were covered by a thick layer of dust and cob webs. He even wondered if there were rats here considering how unclean this whole place was.
He once again scoured the entire area by sending his divine sense all around to see if there were any abnormalities.
After a shirt while, he opened his eyes with a start when he felt there was something else present inside the room.
As of trying to confirm his claim and doubt, a low thud sounded from the far corner of the room. It sounded as if something had fallen down in from a pile of books.
"Hyah!" he let out a low sound as he chanted a spell and reappeared in the place where the sound had come from.
"Show yourself," he said in a stern voice, his face tensed up and stiff as his cautiousness increased with each passing moment.
But nothing or no one came out to greet him or to surrender themselves. Whoever it was, it had already disappeared from this place or it was never there at all.
After waiting for a while, he lessened his guard as he went to pick up the book.
"Holy god, this is the scroll I was looking for," he exclaimed with a gasp when he read the title of the scroll. The name was given by his senior sister upon the modification of his ancestral family technique.
Upon once again reading the title of the scroll, he could not help but scorch up his face in a little bit of disgust and shame.
He really did not want to read out the name that his senior sister gave to this.
She called it…
"The true heavenly blow of the roaring dragon!"
It just sounded too wrong!!!
