Chapter 17: Mine, not Yours.
Chapter 17
He Qingchen pulled Jian Xi to the side, picked up her hand which was still oozing blood droplets, and pressed the needlepoint with a cotton swab, "You really stabbed this needle in deeply."
Jian Xi giggled and said, "Hehe, used too much force, used too much force. Brother, grandfather should be able to wake up after a while. However, he has a severe deficiency now and won't stay awake for long, probably just around ten minutes. You should hurry up."
He Qingchen nodded, indicating that he understood.
"Then Dr. Shen and I will go out first. I'll tell him some things to pay attention to with grandfather," Jian Xi retracted her own hand and looked at it. The bleeding had stopped. "Okay."
He Qingchen threw the cotton swab into the trash can and placed his big hand on top of Jian Xi's head, rubbing it. "Go on, go downstairs to eat some snacks and fruits to pad your stomach. I'll take you out for hot pot later."
Upon hearing hot pot, Jian Xi's eyes lit up. "Okay, okay."
She turned her head, "Dr. Shen, let's go out first." Jian Xi said to Shen Xiaoheng with a faint smile.
Shen Xiaoheng smiled. Her change in attitude was really too fast! She was like a little girl who refused to grow up when with He Qingchen, but to others she was polite and aloof, handling matters calmly and decisively.
He looked at Jian Xi then looked at He Qingchen. These two really grew up together since childhood! Their similarities were indeed extraordinary.
Shen Xiaoheng went downstairs to the living room with Jian Xi. The few passing servants looked over, but only glanced for a moment before hurriedly averting their eyes and continuing with their work.
At this time, Shen Xiaoheng received a phone call. He went to the side to take it and gestured for Jian Xi to sit first.
Just as Jian Xi sat down on the sofa, a servant came over to ask what she would like to drink. Jian Xi said, "Just water, thanks."
"Alright, please wait a moment."
Soon, the servant brought over the water, along with some snacks and fruits.
Jian Xi took a sip from the glass, put it down, and took out her phone to fiddle with it.
She didn't really have time to play with the new phone He Qingchen bought her yesterday, so she decided to check it out now since she had nothing to do.
After researching it for a while, Shen Xiaoheng walked over. She put away her phone.
Shen Xiaoheng sat down and smiled as he asked, "Miss Jian, may I ask you a question?"
Jian Xi replied, "Go ahead Dr. Shen, ask what you want."
"Just now, Qingchen said he would help but you didn't accept it. He also grew up in the temple, so shouldn't he know about such matters too?" Shen Xiaoheng was very curious.
Jian Xi looked at him for a moment but didn't answer his question. Instead, she said, "Dr. Shen, your issue is more with grandfather rather than my brother, so whether my brother knows or not is irrelevant!"
Shen Xiaoheng froze. She could tell with just one look?
He pursed his lips, hesitating on whether to ask outright. But before he could say anything, Jian Xi spoke again, "Don't worry, you and her are destined for each other. Just follow your heart!"
Destined for each other! Shen Xiaoheng immediately grasped the key point. "Miss Jian, do you mean Qingrou also likes me? Really?"
He asked while barely breathing as he waited for Jian Xi's reply.
Jian Xi didn't speak, only nodding once to give him an affirmative answer.
"I know what to do now, thank you Miss Jian," Shen Xiaoheng expressed his gratitude, utterly delighted inside.
Suddenly thinking of something, he looked at Jian Xi and said, "Miss Jian, let me transfer you money. I can't ask for your insight for free."
Jian Xi shook her head. "No need. My brother said you're one of us, and I didn't really say anything."
"Then thank you again Miss Jian," said Shen Xiaoheng.
Jian Xi smiled lightly.
Just then, a voice came from the entrance, "Bro Shen, who is this?"
Jian Xi glanced over. A man in his early twenties with some semblance to He Qingchen - this should be the old master's other grandson and her brother's cousin, He Jiaxu.
He Jiaxu didn't have classes this afternoon and had just returned from school. The moment he entered, he saw a girl sitting in the living room. With just a side profile, he could tell this girl must be very beautiful!
Sure enough, when Jian Xi looked over, his eyes lit up. She was so gorgeous - delicate features on a sweet face, big bright eyes, cherry lips, rosy cheeks like flowers. She looked just like a little fairy descended to earth!
He Jiaxu felt that all the school belles and departmental flowers would have to make way before her, because she wore not a trace of makeup, completely natural!
Shen Xiaoheng first introduced Jian Xi to He Jiaxu, "Miss Jian, this is He Jiaxu, Qingchen's cousin."
"This is Miss Jian, she is Qingchen's, um, sister."
He Jiaxu was puzzled. Looking at Shen Xiaoheng, he said, "Sister? That can't be right. Our He family doesn't have any distant relatives left. If I had a sister, how would I not know about it?"
Just as Jian Xi was about to explain, an icy voice laced with anger cut in ahead of her.
"Mine, not yours." He Qingchen had heard He Jiaxu's words as he came downstairs and felt he was being too nosy.
He Jiaxu shrank back, immediately silencing himself.
Seeing his reaction, Jian Xi pressed her lips, wanting to laugh. He acted like a little overlord outside but became so meek before her brother!
In fact, He Jiaxu also didn't know why. Ever since he first met He Qingchen four years ago, he had been rather afraid of him. The aura he exuded was very oppressive, especially when he stared at him, it was like being choked by the neck and unable to breathe!
"Cousin, you're here! I'll go check on grandfather. You all chat, heh, chat away." He Jiaxu didn't care about any sister business now. His life came first, so he hurried upstairs as fast as he could.
"Wait!" Jian Xi called out to him.
He Jiaxu halted his steps, looking at Jian Xi puzzledly. What did she want from him?
Jian Xi rummaged in her purse and took out a safety talisman. She got up and handed it to him, "Keep this on you."
He Jiaxu was even more confused now. He stared at the paper talisman in Jian Xi's hand, what was the meaning of this?
"Take it if it's given to you, keep it on your person," He Qingchen said.
"Oh, oh, alright. Thank you sis, thank you Miss Jian." He Jiaxu hurriedly expressed his thanks, then rushed upstairs with the safety talisman, moving at lightning speed.
Jian Xi put away her bag, slinging it across her body. She glanced around. The servants had all disappeared after He Qingchen came downstairs. She asked, "Did grandfather fall asleep?"
"Mm," He Qingchen affirmed with a sound. Then he said to Shen Xiaoheng, "Everything will be settled by the day after tomorrow at the latest. Put the bugs back for now, don't let them find out. Thanks for your hard work."
Shen Xiaoheng: "Got it, leave it to me. I'll stay at the old residence these few days."
"Alright, let's go." He Qingchen said, then led Jian Xi away by the hand. However, Jian Xi pulled him to a stop.
