Chapter 23 21- Spirit Artifacts
Aside from being an identity medallion, it also has various other uses such as storing information or sending messages to persons several Kilometers away.
After Xi Shen tapped the medallion, it began to release a soft glow before a white circular rune started to form above it and then slowly began to rotate.
Yang Su who was nervously shifting from one foot to the other looked at the intimidating bodyguards before he turn to Xi Shen and said, “It’s alright young master Shen, I don’t mind staying out here.”
Instead of his usual address for Xi Shen, Yang Su decided to call him young master in front of others. He had concluded that when he was alone with Xi Shen he would address him as elder brother, and when in public he’d address him formally. Even though Xi Shen didn’t mind being called elder brother, Yang Su still thought that the assistant of the second prince of the Maple Continent calling addressing him as elder brother in front of people would be too inappropriate.
Hearing Yang Su’s words, Xi Shen waved his hand dismissively and said, “Don’t worry wait a moment.”
The two bodyguards who were standing there with expressionless faces couldn’t help but give Xi Shen a condescending glare. Seeing Xi Shen activating the communication mechanism of the medallion, they both thought he was trying to use his connections to bypass this Sword Pavilion’s rule. The already low impression they had of him lowered even further, such a simple matter and he was ready to call someone to have things go his way.
Sadly for him, he wasn’t in the Royal Palace anymore, asides from the six elders in seclusion no one had the authority to overrule one of the Sword Pavilion's strict rules.
As the guard's condescending stares bore into him, Xi Shen was patiently staring at the rotating rune above the medallion.
Though he could have just left Yang Su outside and gone into the Pavilion without him, the fact that Yang Su could not enter wasn’t actually the reason he was doing this. This just gave him a reminder of something he had been meaning to do since Ye Fei had dropped the sudden news of him becoming a member of the Sword Pavilion and left in a hurry.
After waiting patiently for some time, the rotating rune started glowing before a miniature figure of Ye Fei’s appeared hovering above it.
When the two bodyguards saw who Xi Shen had been contacting they became dumbfounded before the condescension in their eyes was replaced by disbelief.
After appearing above the rune, the miniature Ye Fei could be heard saying, “Second prince, what matter could be so troubling that you called me after only a few hours after our meeting?”
Hearing that, a light bulb seemed to have clicked on in the guards' heads as they realized how Xi Shen had become an Inner Disciple and join the Sword Pavilion.
Upon hearing Ye Fei’s question, Xi Shen casually said, “It isn’t a major matter, I was wondering if you could promote my assistant to an Inner Disciple and allow him to join the Sword Pavilion.”
When the bodyguards heard that, they couldn’t help but look at Xi Shen with incredulity. They could understand why the Vice Head Master of the Sword Pavilion would be willing to have Xi Shen join the Sword Pavilion somewhat and pulled who knows how many strings to have him become an Inner Disciple, even after the Academy Leader placed him in the Outer Sect, but they found it hard to believe he would heed to Xi Shen request and do it for his assistant.
Ye Fei stayed silent for a moment, before he said, “Okay… But this is a favor that I myself am doing for you, so you owe me.”
Hearing that, Xi Shen casually nodded and then said, “Sure, as long as your request isn’t too demanding.”
After listening to Xi Shen’s confirmation, a smile could be seen on the miniature Ye Fei’s face, before he said, “If that’s all for now second prince, I bid you a farewell. Oh, and no need to thank me.”
Ye Fei then ended the call, resulting in the rotating white rune stopping before dissipating.
After putting the medallion inside his stage ring, Xi Shen was wondering what Ye Fei’s last words meant when he suddenly heard a swooshing sound.
From over the horizon, a white Sword Qi pierced the void as it approached the Techniques Pavilion. Everyone in the middle of the mountain looked up in shock at it while some cried in surprise after recognizing the owner of the Sword Qi.
In only breaths worth of time, the Sword Qi appeared at the entrance coming to a stop in front of Yang Su. The Sword Qi then faded away to reveal a white storage ring inside. Before the ring could fall to the ground, Yang Su awkwardly caught it in surprise.
Seeing the white ring, Xi Shen understood the meaning of Ye Fei’s last words.
“He actually gifted a high-grade storage to Yang Su.”
Mumbling that, Xi Shen looked down at the black storage ring he had on and thought, ‘Even in the God Era no one had thought to use a commonly found Void Stone to make an accessory that could hold items. Too bad the Void Stones became a rarity in this era causing people to only be able to create such little spaces from the pieces scavenged.’
Even though Xi Shen said his mid-grade storage ring was small, it actually has around thirty meters of space inside of it and could hold anything below a thousand pounds. As for Yang Su’s high-grade storage ring, it probably has a space no less than eighty to a hundred meters and could hold up to around a ton.
The reason Xi Shen wasn’t so sure of the capacity of the ring, is the fact that it could be different based on the craftsmanship and the skill of the person who inscribed the runes on it.
Though Yang Su got a storage ring bigger than his own, Xi Shen didn’t really mind, if he couldn’t carry something he would just give it to Yang Su to carry.
Plus, looking at Yang Su awkwardly staring at the storage ring while holding it as if it could break from a slight squeeze, Xi Shen couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Yang Su let's go, I’ll show you how to leave your Soul Imprint on Spirit Artifacts later.”
Hearing that, Yang Su looked up from the storage ring before he cautiously walked past the two bodyguards at the entrance and hurriedly followed Xi Shen that was already walking away.
The two bodyguards didn’t prevent him from entering this time, since they were still reeling from the shock of seeing the legendary Vice Headmaster of the entire Sword Pavilion interacting so casually with Xi Shen, who was currently considered to be the number one trash on the Continent. Though even if that weren’t the case, they wouldn’t have stopped Yang Su anyway since Xi Shen was so chummy with Ye Fei.
Catching up to Xi Shen who was headed for the front desk that had an old man seated around it, Yang Su had a confused expression on his face as he asked, “Eld… I mean, young master Shen, what’s a Spirit Artifact?”
Without turning back to look at Yang Su, Xi Shen patiently said, “Spirit Artifacts are treasures created by blacksmiths and were then enchanted by Rune Masters. Like the ring in your hand, that’s a type of Spirit Artifact, though it’s an Accessory Spirit Artifact, rather than its counterpart a Spirit Weapon Artifact.”
As Yang Su listened to Xi Shen’s explanation, he curiously inspected the white ring in his hands.
Before long, Xi Shen reached the counter the old man was sitting at. Remembering he was now a disciple of the Academy and needed to be on his best behavior, Xi Shen cupped his fist and greeted the seemingly simple old man.
“Greetings elder, both of us have come to choose our cultivation techniques as new members of the Sword Pavilion.”
The elder casually glanced Xi Shen, before looking at Yang Su’s in his Outer Disciple’s robes, but he didn’t inquire about his identification and just said, “Cultivation Techniques for the four Physical Realms is on the second floor, the third and fourth floors are restricted for you two until you ready to break through to the Sea Expansion Realm, so don't break the rules and go up there. Also, you should choose your cultivation methods wisely, since the rules don’t permit you to switch the cultivation methods you've chosen.”
Hearing that, Xi Shen said, “Xi Shen thanks elder for the reminder.”
After saying that, Xi Shen tapped Yang Su, who was gawking at the interior of the Pavilion that had thousands of books lining the numerous shelves, on his shoulder and motioned for him to follow him.
