Chapter 31 29- Yang Su's Innocence... The Ignorance Of People In This Era Amuses Xi Shen
Xi Shen thought for a moment and then said, "The only reason they want me to join their faction, despite me being known to be unable to cultivate, is because they probably figure out the relationship between me and that Ye Fei guy, and possibly the fact that it was the strange Head Master lady who ordered him to help me."
Hearing how Xi Shen was casually speaking about legendary figures like the Vice and the Head Master of the Sword Pavilion in such a way, Yang Su couldn't help but quiver in fright.
He was already traumatized by the thought of offending powerful cultivators when that elder had broken his arm, and now that crazy senior sister almost kick him to death. But Xi Shen's words just now caused him to feel like he was sitting on pins and needles.
Trying to change the topic Yang Su hesitantly asked, "Is that why she... uh…"
Yang Su's words trailed off, but Xi Shen could still understand what he was trying to ask and his expression turned ugly upon remembering what just happened.
After asking him if he would join their faction and Xi Shen declined, the beautiful girl wasted no time to through down the invitation and turn to walk away, before saying he should think about it.
This made Xi Shen think that she was reluctant to come here, but someone had forced her instead. However, Xi Shen didn't mind that and asked her to sit with him for a while and drink some tea.
The girl immediately refused, and seeing that she was about to leave, Xi Shen spoke up and said he would think about it if she considered dual cultivating with him. But before he could fully explain what he meant, this crazy lioness slapped Xi Shen across the face despite standing several feet away.
After that, she looked at him with contempt and scorn before walking away.
Hearing Xi Shen's reiteration of the events that happen, Yang Su had a questioning look on his face as he asked, "What's dual cultivation?"
As Xi Shen was brooding over the fact that the girl had misunderstood him and overreacted, he heard Yang Su's question which caused his expression to stiffen a little.
Turning to look at Yang Su, Xi Shen saw that he was innocently staring at him with a curious expression.
'Sometimes I forget that he was living in a village before this and had no prior knowledge about cultivation. That and the fact that he's just a little kid no more than thirteen years old. Maybe I should make him read some of the books within the Techniques Library's first floor, just so he could increase his knowledge about the cultivation world and develop a common sense for cultivation in general. Then I don't have to awkwardly explain to him about the birds and the bees.'
After thinking that, Xi Shen said, "Dual cultivation is a cultivation practice carried out by both male and female cultivators, that when down together, usually increases their cultivation speed up to tenfold if they were to cultivate by themselves."
After explaining that, Xi Shen saw Yang Su nod but still had a small amount of confusion on his face.
Xi Shen might have lived two lives and was considered an old man by mortal standards, but he still found it troublesome trying to explain to a little kid how his mother and father made him. So he just made his answer as vague as he could and just note that he should make him head for the Techniques Library in the future.
As Xi Shen sunk into his thoughts, he remembered his reaction when he first saw the girl from before.
And he was shocked to say the least because this girl was not only blessed with good looks and was extremely talented to reach the 4th stage of the Foundation Construction Realm before reaching twenty, she also has a rare and practically mythical constitution called the Divine Spirit Body.
This type of constitution produces a type of energy, that to Xi Shen's knowledge, gave someone a high cultivation talent when cultivating in the Spiritual Qi cultivation system. And aside from that, is the fact that if Xi Shen could dual cultivate with her he could absorb it and strengthen the balance between his two physiques, as well as his current cultivation. Though he obviously wouldn't go about doing the traditional way of dual cultivation, but he guessed that his blatant request for dual cultivation was interpreted as such by that girl, causing her reaction.
But the thing is, no one knows of her special constitution. She herself probably realized some slight differences between her body and others, but she likely thought nothing of it.
The only reason why Xi Shen knew was because his partial Heavenly Physique had sensed it.
During the God Era, these types of special constitutions were only bestowed to the Gods' Apostles, who were responsible for spreading their God's glory and prestige as well as their teachings to their countless followers.
This was mainly done to single out the Apostles from normal mortals, meaning these special constitutions in this era were nothing more than a badge of some sort in the God Era that basically identified the person as the Apostle for a specific God.
But seeing that people in this era had these constitutions, and were even using them to aid in their Spiritual Qi cultivation, Xi Shen could only conclude that they were passed down through several thousand years of generations.
However, what baffled Xi Shen about this speculation of his, was the fact that the Gods' Apostles were strictly forbidden to procreate because of this exact same reason.
Xi Shen wondered what the hell exactly happened in the God Domain during the years after he had died. In only a few millennia, not even more than an epoch, the era of fanatically worshipping living Gods was completely gone. Only a few pieces of evidence of such a time having existed could be found, and from what Xi Shen had read in his Ancestral Archive, where top-secret information was kept, the people in this era were skeptical about believing that the God Era was real. Taking it as nothing more than exaggerated stories made up by people during those times.
Reading that, Xi Shen couldn't help burst out laughing which resulted in him being discovered sneaking into the restricted archives. As someone who was born and lived in that era, and was eventually reincarnated into this era known as the Spiritual Qi Era, he found the whole situation comical.
The people in this era were so ignorant of their pitifully weak existence that Xi Shen's head hurt just thinking about it.
Coming out of his thoughts, Xi Shen looked at Yang Su and asked, "Yang Su you don't have to worry over this matter, you should be focusing on getting first place in the Freshmen Competition that's only a week away. I see that you've reached the 4th stage of the Qi Condensation Realm, but that won't be enough."
Saying that last sentence Xi Shen frowned slightly.
This caused Yang Su's expression to become nervous as he suddenly stood up and bow while saying, "Elder brother, I… I'm sorry!"
Seeing Yang Su's sudden actions, Xi Shen was slightly taken aback.
"What is there to apologize for? I just thought that with the Dao Foundation I gave you and you showing that you already had a bit of control over Fire Qi, you would have long surpassed your current realm. But I guess your comprehension of the cultivation method I chose for you has been holding you back."
As Xi Shen said that, he realized that Yang Su was visibly getting more nervous. This made Xi Shen start to wonder what was wrong.
"Yang Su raise your head, if you have something to tell me then just say it, there's no need to be so nervous."
Hearing Xi Shen's words, Yang Su rose from his bowed position but he didn't meet Xi Shen's eyes and only stared down at the table between them.
"Elder brother, I… the cultivation method you gave me was too difficult for me to understand, and even after trying several times, I couldn't make heads or tails of the fourth stage resulting in my cultivation slowing down. So… I just… stopped cultivating, and focused on the Sword Skill that I had chosen from the Techniques Library."
After listening to Yang Su's explanation, Xi Shen nodded his head and said, "If you're worried that I would be angry that you chose to train the Sword Skill instead of cultivating then you shouldn't be. What you felt then was a bottleneck, and everyone experiences it once in a while, whether they're cultivating a certain cultivation method or learning techniques. During this bottleneck, even if you try to forcefully continue to study the cultivation method you won't make any progress for the time being. So putting your attention on your sword comprehension was the right choice."
