Chapter 419 416- The Star Bound Continent (5)
"Take a step forward and you'll be going against our Divine Star Academy."
Wang Yuwei said with a solemn expression.
"Senior sister Yuwei, why are you sticking up for these murders?! It's because of them that our elders died, is the Divine Star Academy really going to ignore this and protect them?!!"
"That's right!"
"We need compensation!"
"We won't just do as you say!"
"You can't just suppress all of us!"
Immediately, uproars occurred in the crowd of disciples.
The number of disciples on the ship reached double-digits in the thousands. And about a third of them were those from the smaller academies that didn't have a Chosen Disciple participating in the tournament but were simply invited to watch the event.
They couldn't just swallow this loss. They were already struggling by having to compete for resources that the big academies greedily filled their stomachs with.
Now that a few of their elders had died, their power had significantly dropped.
Life would be harder for them in the academy than before and hearing Yuwei just dismiss it caused them to erupt in anger.
They started to step forward as their yells grew louder and louder.
Yuwei seeing this had her eyes grow cold. She didn't hesitate to draw her sword and slashed it down.
A nonlethal blast of her Sound Qi burst from her sword and forcefully pushed back all the rioting disciples.
After being knocked back, they looked at Yuwei from their positions on the ground with terrified expressions on their faces.
They were merely normal disciples while she was a Chosen, and a top Chosen at that.
The disciples who were angry felt like a cold bucket of water had been dunked over their heads.
However, a disciple suddenly stepped forward and pushed out his hand.
The immense power from Yuwei's sword slash was pushed back by an overbearing force that left his palm.
Using a mere palm attack this person had managed to suppress Yuwei's burst of Qi, all the disciples turned to see who this person was.
They saw a young man that was wearing a non-traditional cultivation outfit. It was plain upper wear with its sleeves cut at the shoulders, along with simple gray-colored pants.
He wore no shoes as he walked and came to a stop in front of Yuwei.
If not because they were on a ship full of people from the various powers on the Maple Continent, some disciples would have thought he was a beggar.
But what was more eye-catching than this young man's outfit was the many bandages on his body. His plain shirt was unbuttoned so they could clearly see tha bandages went from his neck all the way down his arms and legs.
"It's Mo Zhe from the Divine Palm Academy! What's he doing here? Are the top Academies getting involved as well?"
The Divine Palm Academy was said to be in the top ten strongest academies.
Mo Zhe was this generation's most outstanding disciple from the Divine Palm Academy, being a top Chosen of similar fame as Yuwei.
"Yuwei, how can treat the disciples from the smaller academies like this? As someone from the Divine Star Academy shouldn't you be understanding of their grievances instead of using your power and status to suppress them?"
As Mo Zhe said that, one could see he was his expression was frosty.
This was Mo Zhe's personality, unlike most disciples in his position he was an advocate for the weak and those who were being taken advantage of.
Rumors say he was like this because of his past as a slave. Though it was illegal to own a slave on the continent it didn't stop truly evil people to practice it. Now that the disciples think about it, him speaking up now was in line with his nature.
Yuwei seeing Mo Zhe step forward had her cold expression lessen before she said.
"Brother Mo Zhe, I apologize to you and everyone for my actions, but I have no respect for anyone who would form a gang and attack someone for something they had no control over, no matter how upset you are there is a level of understanding you must have in these situations. These disciples aren't' at fault for the elders' death."
Mo Zhe went silent for a moment then asked.
"Then what do you suggest they do? What do you suggest I do after watching my senior brother die before my eyes?"
All of a sudden everyone realized that Mo Zhe didn't step forward simply because he was sticking up for the weak Academies, but he had lost someone close to him.
"The Divine Star Academy is rumored to supposedly have hidden strength capable of matching the entire Academy Alliance itself. Let's test that rumor by seeing how strong its disciples are."
Mo Zhe said as he stepped forward.
His palms by his side suddenly began radiating a terrifying aura that cause the other Divine Star Academy disciple to feel their scalps tingle.
The disciples from the weaker academies seeing a disciple from a top academy taking their side, all the fear of Yuwei diminished. They all took a step forward with Mo Zhe as well.
It seemed a fight breaking out was inevitable.
Yuwei said nothing but she raised her sword.
However, before a fight could break out, a shout suddenly echoed out for all to hear.
"STOP!! ANYONE WHO TRIES TO HARM MEMBERS OF MY ACADEMY WILL BECOME A LIFELONG ENEMY OF MY SHOELESS RELIGION!!"
Everyone hearing this shout was taken aback.
'Shoeless Religion?'
Everyone then watched as Fuangu approached with a hundred or so disciples all wearing the Celestial Academy's Inner Disciple robes. What was more noticeable was that all those disciples were without shoes.
"Don't worry senior brother Yang Su and everyone, I won't let anyone bully you with numbers!"
Fuangu then stopped by Yuwei's side and gave Mo Zhe a glare. With so many disciples in front of them, Yang Su and the others could no longer see what was going on they could only resort to listening.
Mo Zhe watched as this happen with a frown on his face.
He looked at these idiots with a bit of contempt. He had heard of these people before and their ridiculous religion, but he didn't put them in his eyes.
Even with their numbers added, they were still outnumbered when counting the disciples who were angry that their elders died.
Mo Zhe snorted.
They weren't even Chosens, just weak disciples trying to form a weak group. But because of this situation, Mo Zhe wasn't going to beat them up too badly.
Fuangu seeing Mo Zhe approaching knew the situation he had just placed himself in, but he was surprisingly pretty calm, even wearing a confident expression.
"Members of my Shoeless Religion, stand down now!"
Fuangu said seriously. More than a few disciples behind Mo Zhe hearing Fuangu wore hesitant expressions but ultimately retreated back to the confusion of everyone else.
All of sudden, Mo Zhe realized the disciples behind him lessen by a third. His expression frowned a bit but soon returned to normal.
'It doesn't matter, it's still enough to stir up a conflict between the Divine Star Academy and these lesser academies.'
This thought ran through Mo Zhe's head before he continued forward. If someone around him had heard it, they would realize his motive for stepping in wasn't because of his so-called chivalrous personality, or because his senior brother died. But simply take this opportunity to sow discord in the Academy Alliance between the lesser academies and the top academies.
As to why he, a top genius of one the strongest academy on the Maple Continent the Divine Palm Academy, would want to do such a thing was a complete mystery.
However, another voice suddenly echoed out.
"Members of my Faceless Religion! Stand down as well!"
Mao Wen soon came with his hundred members of the Shoeless Religion to stand with Fuangu. The two looked at each and nodded before turning back to Mo Zhe.
Though Fuangu was helping because he knew Yang Su and the others, that was only partially the reason. He and Mao Wen were enemies, but they share the same sentiments that as disciples of the Celestial Academy they couldn't just watch as their fellow disciples were being ganged upon.
As to why they were the only ones who felt this way while the other Celestial Academy disciples looked on without doing anything, they didn't know.
Mo Zhe then watched as another third of the disciples behind him backed out.
His face completely fell when he saw that there were less than half of the disciples here than there were before. Now they were completely outnumbered.
Mo Zhe stopped and then looked at Mao Wen and Fuangu with narrowed eyes. His expression showed that he was angry, but in his heart, he was secretly shocked by the influence these two have over the lesser academies' disciples.
They were Chosens but were barely in the rankings as their talents weren't anything amazing, but with just a few words they had changed this situation completely. Compared to him and Yuwei, these two were actually the ones with the most influence here.
Not only Mo Zhe, everyone came to the sudden realization of just how deep these two so-called religions had managed to reach among the academies on the Maple Continent. No, not just the Academies, a few disciples from small clans that were among the gang, angered their elders dying suddenly retreated.
Yang Su and the others seeing this looked at each other.
'You can retreat, it's my miscalculation. I suspect Yuwei and the Noble Families would make a move to which we could handle, instead of the Noble Families these clowns were out of my expectation.'
Mo Zhe hearing this voice transmission turned his head slightly to look in Ming Shiming's direction. After a quick glance, he turned back to look at Yuwei, Fuangu, and Mao Wen before saying.
"This isn't over."
Mo Zhe then began retreating, however, a small white speck drifting down in front of him suddenly caught his eye. Then after a moment, more and more of these small white specks began to drift down.
