Chapter 187: Breaking through Mathew's Room
Chapter 187: Breaking through Mathew's Room
[Holy Church]
[5 Days Have Passed...]
Alex's PoV:
It's been five days and Axel was yet to be awake.
Aerin was taking care of Axel in the small house that Axe had built. Aerin had secluded herself with Axel during the past five days.
Since Axel was like my brother and also my mentor, I ought to do at least something as simple as bringing food to Aerin so that Aerin could continue taking care of Axel.
With the food, I had given Aerin every morning, noon, and evening during the past five days, Aerin was still healthy and full of energy so she could take care of Axel whenever she wanted to.
I also often saw Pedonar and Aileen checking up on Axel's condition now and then during the past five days.
Pedonar and Aileen weren't that anxious about Axel's condition since they knew that Axel was pretty much alive.
If Axel wasn't alive, then Pedonar and Aileen would be the first two to know. After all, Pedonar and Aileen's life was tied to Axel's life so if Axel died, then Pedonar and Aileen would die as well.
As I was contemplating about the occurrence during the past five days, I got up from my bed and exited my room.
I descended from the second floor via a window and I didn't even need to cast wind magic to slow my fall since my body could endure even the impact of falling down a 50 story building.
A small crater was formed on the ground as my strength was released on the ground when I descended on the ground from the second floor.
I used earth magic to fill up and fix the crater since it would be bad to deform the ground near the Holy Church.
I walked towards the training ground and as I passed by the small house, I had peeked through the window by chance and saw Axel lying on the bed while Aerin was sitting on a chair next to Axel's bed.
I also noticed that there were eyebags underneath Aerin's eyes. Aerin must have either lack sleep or had no sleep at all.
It would be bad for Aerin's health if she stayed up all night again while having no sleep at all.
You know what? Screw it!
My training regime could wait. I haven't slacked in my sword training during the past five days so I could afford a break just for today.
I'll just help Aerin regain her energy by consulting Mathew and asking Mathew for a stamina or energy potion or whatever that could regain Aerin's energy.
As I decided to do that, I changed my destination towards the second floor of the Holy Church where Mathew's room was located instead of the training ground.
I ran towards the Holy Church but I held back my speed since my speed stat was high enough to cause a sonic boom just by running at an average pace.
I had also trained myself in controlling my strength since I did not want to destroy any properties wherever I went.
As I ran towards the Holy Church, I arrived at the Holy Church in just a few seconds and I then jumped through the second-floor hallway window.
After jumping through the second-floor hallway window I had jumped down through a while ago, I was now at the second-floor hallway of the Holy Church.
I headed towards Mathew's room and knocked on his room door. I kept on knocking on Mathew's door until Mathew himself opened the door.
Mathew looked at me for a while and then he slammed the door closed. It seemed that Mathew had some grudge from my past stealing from him or maybe he did not want to see anyone for now since he was busy with something?
Either way, I decided to knock on Mathew's door again but after I knocked for the second time, my hand knocked on a solid invisible barrier that covered the room of Mathew.
I see... Mathew, now you're resorting to activating a barrier-type artifact.
Unfortunately for Mathew, that wouldn't stop me from breaking into his room since this time, my intentions were pure and I didn't go to him just for my selfish needs.
I needed to give Aerin an energy or stamina potion so that she could recover her energy and then she would be able to take care of Axel much longer.
With that in mind, I decided to forcefully break through the invisible barrier that Mathew had set up in his room.
I'm not the type to break into someone's room but since it was urgent, I had no choice but to do it.
I channeled my mana towards the end of my two hands and released it near my hand. I then transformed the released mana into a spear.
I held the condensed mana spear tightly on both of my hands while I performed a fighting stance.
I imbued more mana into my condensed mana spear and I aimed the condensed mana spear towards Mathew's door.
I decided to use a spear instead of a sword since a spear could deal more damage on one spot and could cause less damage to the surroundings.
Slashing a sword inside the Holy Church using some of my strength would cause the walls near Mathew's door to collapse. Therefore, it would cause the upper floors of the Holy Church to also collapse because of destroying the walls below the upper floors.
As I imbued my mana into my condensed mana spear, I controlled the imbued mana on my condensed mana spear towards the spearhead of my condensed mana spear.
After I built up my strength in both of my hands, I thrust the condensed mana spear towards the invisible barrier outside Mathew's room.
The spearhead of my condensed mana spear collided with the invisible barrier outside Mathew's room and the collision of the two caused some mana to leak out from the two.
The place where I had thrust the condensed mana spear on the invisible barrier outside Mathew's room had its mana drained and was showing signs of breaking as cracks started to appear on the barrier outside Mathew's room.
The once invisible barrier was no longer invisible as the mana to maintain the barrier's invisibility was used to repair the barrier.
I added more force and mana into my condensed mana spear which caused my condensed mana spear to plunged deeper into the visible barrier outside Mathew's room until the visible barrier's regenerative property was no longer able to overpower the damage that my condensed mana spear had caused.
My condensed mana spear's spearhead was able to penetrate the barrier outside Mathew's room and just several seconds after that, the barrier outside Mathew's room shattered.
The mana from the barrier outside Mathew's room scattered in the surroundings after the barrier broke.
"Finally! It took me a while to break Mathew's barrier but I succeeded anyway."
I said to myself while I hold on to the doorknob of Mathew's room. I twist the doorknob and it twisted without any problems.
Huh? It seemed that Mathew had not locked his door. Or maybe, Mathew had left the door open just in case I or anyone wanted to enter his room.
The barrier that Mathew had put up outside his room must have been just a test for me if I could break it or not and also a test for Mathew to see if the barrier-type artifact he had used was durable or not.
If that wasn't the case, then Mathew wouldn't have set up a barrier that he knew I could easily destroy, and instead, he could just tell me he didn't want anyone to disturb him.
My guess might be right on the spot but I decided not to think about it too much.
After I twisted the doorknob, I pulled it which caused the door to open. Inside Mathew's room, I saw Mathew sitting on his bed while holding a transparent cube in his right hand.
The transparent cube on Mathew's right hand must be the barrier-type artifact that Mathew had used to create a barrier outside his room. I had also noticed that the mana inside the transparent cube that Mathew was holding had run out.
With that evidence, I was certain that it was indeed the artifact that Mathew had used to create a barrier outside his room.
"I thank you for letting me witness the durability of this newly acquired artifact of mine. Anyways, what brings you here?"
Mathew thanked me and asked me afterward. I was right, Mathew had indeed used the barrier-type artifact he had obtained just to test its durability.
"I have noticed that Aerin was lethargic after having to take care of Axel without any sleep at all. That's why I decided to come to your room to ask you to either give me a potion that could restore energy or just steal one if you didn't have it."
I replied to Mathew's question.
Mathew looked at me for a while before he asked me.
"How many do you need?"
