Chapter 427: 16 Year Old Inglis and the Highland on Distance Sea (36)
"“Liselotte!””
Bash!
However, that high-speed throw came to a sudden stop right in front of Liselotte. Inglis stepped forward in front of Liselotte and intercepted the halberd.
Just as she said to Leone, she was watching closely. She kept the Ether Armor active, ready to intervene at any moment.
"Inglis…!"
"Glis! Nice!"
"T-Thank you so much, Miss Inglis…!"
"No problem. As long as we're watching, you’re free to speak as much as you want. If she really is your mother, it’s only natural that you want her back. Rani and Leone also feel the same."
"Thank you, everyone!""But in return, when we come back safely, suggest to your mother to become an instructor at the Knight Academy, okay?"
"Huh? Um… sure…"
"Hey, Glis! Don't try to sneak in your own demands amidst all this…!"
Oops, Rafinha heard her. Inglis cleared her throat and turned her attention to the intruder on the other side.
"We're having a rare moment of peace here, so it would be a shame to disturb it, wouldn't it?"
For Inglis, Liselotte talking to Charlotte might even be a perfect opportunity to recruit a new instructor. Anyone disrupting this couldn't be overlooked.
“Such a small child… caught my throw at that distance…?”
The one staring wide-eyed was a girl with long pale turquoise hair, tied up cutely.
Her face exuded elegance, and her slightly revealing attire emphasized her feminine, mature limbs. She possessed both charm and allure, a terrifyingly attractive woman combining delicacy and maturity.
Her presence exuded a unique aura, filled with the imposing presence typical of a Hyrule Menace.
And that face was familiar.
"You are…! Tiffany!?"
She was Tiffany, the Hyrule Menace aligned with the Church’s Union. During Inglis and others' expedition to Alucard, she had been wreaking havoc around the outskirts of the city of Lekrea. She was reportedly under Archlord Abel’s command and continued operations following the strategy at Alucard.
Abel was known for his brutal nature, even playfully severing the arm of King Charleas at the royal palace. Tiffany herself possessed an even more ruthless character. The devastation she caused around the city of Lekrea was severe.
Moreover, Tiffany had attempted to attack Rafinha, where Abel had refrained from targeting Rafinha. That made her significantly more guilty in that regard.
As far as Inglis was concerned, this was unforgivable and would remain so indefinitely.
"Oh, you know me…?"
"Yes, indeed. Though circumstances dictate I appear as a child now, I am Inglis Eux. It's been a while, greetings to you."
Inglis gracefully smiled and bowed politely.
"…I see. Greetings indeed. You're still as enigmatic as ever."
Tiffany returned the smile gracefully.
This attitude towards someone she had once fought and defeated by, as if nothing had happened, revealed a depth that was difficult to fathom and made her a formidable opponent, not to be underestimated.
"I’m glad to see you're doing well."
Even the wounds from the battle with Inglis seemed completely healed upon inspection. And observing her current action of suddenly throwing the halberd at Liselotte revealed a character not inclined to play fairly.
Though she appeared more delicate and pure than anyone else, her actions betrayed that appearance.
"But attacking without even a greeting seems a bit much, don't you think?"
Such behavior might prevent us from truly enjoying this battle. Sneak attacks and ambushes like these are risky maneuvers that end a fight without allowing the opponent to show their full strength. Even if one wins by such means, it only robs oneself of opportunities for growth.
"That’s right! As always, you’re cute on the outside, but you have such a nasty character inside!"
"Fufu… just a barking puppy that can't do anything. Bark, bark, always so annoying."
Rafinha and Tiffany didn't seem to get along well temperamentally.
Rafinha believed in justice and the greater good, while Tiffany didn't hesitate to use any means necessary to achieve her goals. They were both irritating to each other.
"What did you say…?!"
"Isn't that right? You're merely a parasite borrowing this child’s might. If you're so frustrated, why not face me alone? Fufufu."
Her flower-like smile was very charming, provoking Rafinha.
"I'm not borrowing anything! What belongs to Glis belongs to me, and what belongs to me belongs to Glis! We will always be together forever, that’s just how it is.”
“Exactly what Rani says. There’s no room for criticism.”
"Exactly what Glis says! Bleh!"
Rafinha blew raspberries. She might genuinely be showing her anger, but her actions made her look a little cute.
And it seems Rafinia isn't the only one with complaints against Tiffany.
"What do you think are you doing…!?"
Charlotte glared at Tiffany.
At the same time, the halberd that Ingris had been holding disappeared from her grasp and reappeared in Charlotte’s hand.
Jumping through space and pulling it in, is it? Charlotte really uses various kinds of power. If possible, Inglis had wanted to take the halberd home. That’s too bad.
“That’s my line. I saw you were just standing and watching even though our enemy is right in front of you, so I merely lent you a helping hand.”
Tiffany tilts her head like she's playing dumb to Charlotte.
“It’s unnecessary, and I am not one to take the help of a failure like you…!”
“My deepest apologies, then. Seeing that you’re oh so perfect, I suggest finishing off these girls as soon as possible. I don’t think we’re here for a little chat, no?”
“…be that as it may, killing them is not part of my mission.”
"Oh? You can't kill a girl with a face like yours? Why?"
“I wouldn’t be so conflicted if I knew the reason… Why am I, and her…”
Charlotte, who looks like she's eaten a bitter bug, sighs openly to Tiffany.
"If you don't even know yourself, are you really a reliable pawn for the Lord Founder? Now that puts the question which one of us is the failure.”
However you look at it, the relationship between Charlotte and Tiffany doesn't seem to be good.
Having to face two Hyrule Menaces at once was practically a dream come true for Inglis. Then again, even if they weren’t as close as Eris and Ripple were, she was worried that they weren’t even the slightest bit close.
What she worried, of course, was that they might not be as coordinated when fighting her.
