Chapter 4
Housekeeper in the Dungeon Episode 4
An hour ago, Heena followed Woo Min-ah out of the gate.
After a brief greeting with Woo Min-ah, they parted ways and were handed over to rescue workers.
Since Heena was not seriously injured, she only received simple first aid and returned home after adding her name to the list of victims at the gate.
…No, I was trying to go home.
“My house!”
Heena screamed. Even in front of the monsters in the dungeon, my strong mentality crumbled to ashes.
The Dungeon Gate ate everything around it. Where the gate had been built, only ruins remained.
Therefore, since I got caught up in a dungeon while working overtime at work, I expected that the company building, which was in the middle of the gate storm, would not be okay.
“Assuming it’s a company building! “But what if my house gets caught up in it and disappears?”
However, I had no idea that the scope of the gate explosion would be this wide.
Heena rented a villa near her office due to commuting issues, but when she arrived there after trudging, there was only a collapsed brick wall.
There was no trace of the house left. Even the belongings that could be picked up were completely thrown away at the dungeon gate.
“You are like the children of this thief!”
Heena started cursing and pointing a point at the sky.
The rescue worker who was examining her realized that Heena was not hurt physically, but rather seriously wounded in her heart.
For Koreans, home is like the soul.
“The place you were staying was caught up in a gate surge. A temporary shelter has been set up at a nearby elementary school. Shall I take you there?”
The rescue worker patted Heena’s back with a very careful hand.
Heena gasped in anger for a long time before finally opening her mouth.
“…are you okay. If it’s an elementary school, I know where it is. “I can go alone.”
I was grateful for the kindness, but I simply didn’t have the spirit to be with someone. This is because I became angry at the harsh reality.
‘What do we do? Since the company building is gone, the company that pays the salary is no different from bankruptcy, and the house… How much compensation will there be? It won’t bring you a lot of money. my house! my deposit! my furniture! my money! How to! Even if I were kicked out bare-handed, I would have more hope than this!’
Although it was small and shabby, it was a rented house that my brother and Heena had invested their blood and sweat into.
Even though I couldn’t go in often due to working overtime, it was one of the few comfortable spaces where I could lie down warmly…
“…What if it disappears? house! “Oh, my house!”
It was a moment when I was about to lay down, beating my heart against the miserable reality.
A system information window popped up in front of my eyes. Heena looked at the status window and muttered blankly.
“What is the hidden skill and what is ‘Home Sweet Home’?”
The information window even kindly answered Heena’s questions.
Heena’s eyes quickly scanned the skill window.
<Home Sweet Home (D): Provides a home to the skill caster. Active skill. *Unlocked when an awakened person of the ‘housekeeper’ class desperately wants a ‘home’ while in a ‘home lease’ state.>
Still, the skill description was insincere and the unlock conditions were miserable and nonsensical.
What is the probability that a person who awakens to the strange hidden class of housekeeper will scream because they have lost their home?
But to Heena, such facts were not very important. This is because the content of the skill itself was truly filled with hope.
‘Are you offering a house? With skill… a house?’
If it were true, it would be as if a house had suddenly fallen from the sky.
Yes. This was a skill greater than winning the lottery!
It was something I couldn’t believe, but couldn’t help but want to believe.
‘You’re not asking me to find materials to build a house like the <Comfortable Bed> skill, right?’
Heena cast the skill without being able to erase her doubts until the end.
“Home sweet home!”
When the skill was cast, a door appeared on top of the half-collapsed wall with a faint light. I quickly went back and checked the back of the wall, and there was nothing behind it.
Heena swallowed hard and pulled the door open. There was nothing to be seen beyond the door.
‘What will come out?’
I couldn’t even imagine what kind of scene would unfold. Heena took a small breath and walked to the other side of the door.
What I felt as soon as I entered the door was that the whole place was hazy.
“Is this a house?”
As I mumbled, a system window appeared in front of me.
“Why does this damn system take so long to load?”
Heena chewed her fingers nervously. My fingers tasted like grass and dirt.
It was the faint scent of a dungeon. It was such a precious memory that I never want to experience it again.
I don’t know how long I went round and round. As I was waiting quietly in a place where there was nothing, each second felt like a minute and each minute felt like an hour.
It was when Heena’s patience reached its peak.
At the last minute, the system displayed a message that the adjustment was complete. Heena swallowed dry saliva.
‘What on earth will come out?’
My heart was pounding in a situation where I couldn’t tell what was ahead.
At that moment, a fanfare exploded in front of Heena.
「★(Sir) Home Sweet Home opens! (Congratulations)★」
“Ugh!”
A gorgeous effect enveloped Heena’s optic nerves. The font and colors were so intense that it felt like my eyeballs were being stabbed with my eyes open.
“My eyes!”
Heena squatted down, covered her eyes with both hands, and groaned for a long time. This is because the lingering effect of eye terror given by the congratulatory text remained for a long time.
“Ugh…”
After a while, Heena slowly opened her stiff eyelids. Something appeared in my blurry vision. It wasn’t the same blurry background as before.
It was like that. Heena was indoors now.
‘Is this a real house?’
Before I could even look inside the house, system notification windows popped up in front of my eyes.
“Old, basic studio…?”
Heena read the notification window, cleared it, and slowly looked around. The place where she was standing now was a small studio apartment that looked about 3 pyeong in size.
A small sink was placed in a corner, and a door that appeared to be the entrance to the bathroom was hung on one wall. It was a room just big enough to stay alone.
It could be said that it is too much for Heena, who has only a place to lie down right now in the spacious gym of the temporary shelter.
…but.
“Why are there all these dirty places?”
Heena was shocked at the state of the house.
The wallpaper had turned yellow, and there was dark mold in one corner of the room.
I don’t know what it looked like, but there were some cobwebs hanging down, and the floor was so dirty that even walking around with muddy feet didn’t bother me at all. The asphalt floor would have been cleaner.
The system asked Heena, who was shocked at the mess of the house, if there was a contract.
Heena ignored the system window and walked toward the bathroom. When looking at real estate listings, the most important thing Heena thought about was the bathroom.
The system acted like a licensed real estate agent only for those who wanted to sell their studio apartment right away.
They kept popping up a window in front of me and asking me if I wanted to sign a contract. As if trying to distract my attention, system windows kept popping up over and over again.
Well, this was almost like semi-coercion.
“Did you think I would fall for this trick?”
Heena snorted and opened the bathroom door.
As soon as I opened the door, a strange odor filled my nose.
“Ugh, what is this smell!”
There was a bad smell, like the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned in months. In addition, the floor tile joints were black and the mirror was stained with water stains and looked rusty. The sink and toilet, which should have been white, were worn out.
“Are you giving me something like this as a house?”
Heena huffed and stamped her foot. Even though the house was in a mess, there was no mess like this. Really, this was a real bargain.
“No contract! “Show me another house!”
Heena shouted into the air. Then the system window popped up in front of me again.
The ‘No’ button that should have been placed after ‘Yes’ had disappeared. It was absurd.
“No, where are you? I’m going to press No! paddle! “I don’t like it!”
I said it several times, but now the system only shows the same words.
“Show me something else!”
“No!”
“Why is there only one choice?”
It was clear that if the system had been something real, it would have been grabbed by the hair right away.
However, the system was something invisible, and in this situation, Heena had only one option.
“Okay, you cheater! Yes! Okay, I’ll sign a contract!”
When I shouted ‘Yes’ with a sigh, the system seemed to be satisfied.
