Chapter 11: The Voice Returns
Chapter 11: The Voice Returns
All of a sudden, a searing pain racked across Di Tou's body, and a blinding light appeared in front of his retinas. By the time he could see again… He was bloody colorblind!? No, upon closer examination, the colors still seemed to be there, there was still green in the trees, the reddish-brown coloring of the dirt, the blue of the sky and the blinding resounding white of the giant floating scroll in front of him… ? ? ? The giant floating scroll in front of him? Where the hell had that come from!?
Looking closely, it seemed that the scroll didn't have a material form, if he squinted he could almost see through the scroll but not quite, as if its natural form was opaque, but the scroll itself didn't want to be ignored. It seemed to be supporting itself by seeping the colors from the world around it. No. That was incorrect, in front of this scroll, it felt wrong to say that it was seeping or stealing colors. It felt as though it was profaning something holy. It seemed more apt to say that the presence of the scroll demanded respect and it was only natural that the trees the land and the sky offered up their color. Before this untainted existence it was only right to give up one's individuality, one's spirit and make way for its purity.
Thus, in front of it's overwhelming white, the rest of the world not only seemed less colorful by comparison, but also was quite literally losing its color away.
A snide comment about if this was an elementary schooler's test about white being made up of all the colors combined jumped through Di Tou's head before suddenly he realized. Mu Di Bai wasn't moving. In fact, upon closer examination nothing was moving. Not too far away he could see a leaf stationary in the air. This stillness had almost been obscured by the draining of the colors, as with it there felt as though change remained in the world, but the absence sound, paticulalry of a certain annoying voice had alerted Di Tou to the situation.
As Di Tou was considering if he should take this opportunity to give a certain old man a big old slap in the face before running into the woods, a certain familiar voice appeared, and with it words formed upon the scroll.
"By Decree of the High Heaven"
"The Man of Mundane, Bu Di Tou is to be given an opportunity"
"His selected profession is that of a janitor"
"In his field of profession, he will be given an opportunity to touch upon the Legendary"
"As Yin inverses to Yang"
"As Yang inverses to Yin"
"Let the mundane become Legendary"
"Let the Legendary become Mundane"
"He shall rid the earth of impurities"
"He shall purify the tainted man"
"Let thy duty become thy spirit"
"Let thy spirit embrace the world"
"Clean this bloodied land"
"Thus is your order"
