The Peak of Alchemy & Martial

Chapter 11

C11 – Cosmic Unification

“Here you are, sir—two hundred and ten Spirit Stones,” the maid said, promptly presenting the stones to Yun Haoyan with both hands cradling a brocade pouch, which she offered with due reverence.

Upon accepting the pouch, Yun Haoyan nonchalantly selected a few medium-grade Spirit Stones. “I’d like to purchase several sets of Spiritual Plants for Qi Refining Pills. Could you prepare them for me?”

The Qi Refining Pill was a fundamental pill, essential for aiding the cultivation of Martial Warriors and Martial Masters.

“Certainly, sir. Just a moment, please,” the maid responded, taking the Spirit Stones and heading behind the counter.

Steward Qi inquired, “May I have the honor of knowing your esteemed name?”

Yun Haoyan gave a nod of acknowledgment and introduced himself, “I am Yun Haoyan.”

“Ah, the young master of the Yun family! Your reputation precedes you. The Yun family is indeed blessed with many talents,” Steward Qi remarked with a beaming smile.

Yun Tiantian, Yun Haoyan’s sister, pursed her lips in disdain. Despite being the eldest son of the Yun family, her brother had been here for quite some time, and yet Steward Qi failed to recognize him. Clearly, he was feigning familiarity.

Moreover, the Yun family was hardly a powerhouse in Silkbarrow.

The four major families of Silkbarrow—the Lei, Qiu, Wang, and Xi families—each boasted at least one Grand Martial Master among their ranks. Even smaller families often had two or more Martial Masters, some even surpassing that number.

The Yun family’s claim to fame was solely Yun Haoyan’s father, who had reached the pinnacle of the Martial Master realm. They were far from being a family of prodigies.

Yun Haoyan simply nodded, aware that he was being flattered, and responded with a polite smile.

“Sir, your Spiritual Plants are ready. Please ensure they are safely stored,” the maid said as she approached with a redwood box.

Without a glance, Yun Haoyan accepted the box and, along with Yun Tiantian, made his way back to the Yun residence.

After parting ways with his sister, Yun Haoyan retreated to the solitude of his bedroom. There was much to sort through, not least of which was selecting a suitable cultivation technique for himself. In his past life, he had been practicing the Yun family’s top-grade Yellow cultivation technique, the Lightness Technique, which Yun Haoyan felt was lacking in power.

Aside from a slightly faster attack speed compared to other Yellow Grade techniques of the same tier, it offered no additional benefits.

“What cultivation technique should I choose to practice?”

“Should it be the Thunderbolt Technique or the Thirteen Spirit Golden Lock Arts?”

Yun Haoyan was deeply conflicted. In his past life as a Pill Monarch, he had encountered numerous Heavenly Grade techniques.

Take the Thunderbolt Technique, for instance, which allowed one to harness heavenly thunder for cultivation. Breaking through realms was effortless, like a knife through butter, and the Spiritual Energy within one’s body would be infused with thunder and lightning, doubling the attack potency.

When fully channeling this technique, it was akin to a raging thunderbolt, with Spiritual Energy erupting chaotically, its might limitless.

Then there was the Thirteen Spirit Golden Lock Arts, which stored Spiritual Energy at thirteen times the rate of ordinary techniques, with an output to match.

“Maybe I should cultivate that particular technique!”

Yun Haoyan recalled a technique gifted to him by Jin Wenbin in his previous life.

Jin Wenbin, his closest friend, was a Martial Saint at the pinnacle of his power.

He had reportedly endured great hardships to acquire the technique from an Ancient Secret Realm, and it was classified as a Common Yellow Grade.

The technique was named “Cosmic Unification,” and while its cultivation was exceedingly challenging, its power once mastered was earth-shattering.

Whether it was a Heavenly or the most basic Yellow Grade technique, the absorption of Spiritual Energy traditionally occurred at the Heaven Spirit point.

However, this unique technique absorbed Spiritual Energy through the entire body.

One shouldn’t assume that absorbing Spiritual Energy through the entire body was faster than through the Heaven Spirit alone.

A person’s focus is finite, and guiding Spiritual Energy into the body requires undivided attention.

Absorbing through the entire body proved less effective than the targeted approach at the Heaven Spirit.

But that wasn’t even the most frustrating part.

The real downside was that the technique consumed a vast majority of the Spiritual Energy during absorption, with only a tenth actually entering the body.

This was precisely why all cultivation techniques favored the Heaven Spirit for absorption, as it ensured no loss of Spiritual Energy.
