He shakily typed a reply, “Master Yan, I’ve been really busy without you around. I’ll stop chatting now and get back to work. Do have a good rest!”
Yan Beicheng ignored him after receiving the message. He was about to put his phone away when it rang again, vibrating steadily in his hand.
Yan Beicheng looked down and saw that it was Lin Chu calling. However, the screen did not show Lin Chu’s name but instead displayed the words ‘Sticky Rice’.
Yan Beicheng’s eyes became warm as he looked at the familiar nickname. He was not even aware that his lips had curved into a wide smile.
He had gotten Zuo Qiu to find out Lin Chu’s phone number, then quietly saved it in his phone. He had never mentioned to Lin Chu that he had her number.
His phone was currently ringing loudly and vibrating but Yan Beicheng did not pick it up, but instead placed the phone to his side. The call automatically went to voice message but started ringing again in less than a minute. Yan Beicheng continued to ignore it.
On the other end, Lin Chu eventually hung up and stared at the phone for a while.
It was worrying when someone sick was not picking up the phone. She sighed and changed out of her home clothes, putting on a T-shirt and jeans. She did not waste her time putting on something nice. It was more convenient to take care of a sick person this way anyway.
Lin Chu was dumbstruck at the thought.
She seemed to care about how she looked to Yan Beicheng.
She quickly put on her coat and went to the balcony to collect Yan Beicheng’s clothes, which had dried by now. She folded them up and put them into a bag. When she picked up the tight, little boxers, her face burned. She quickly put it into a separate bag before putting it into a bag with the rest of the clothes. Meanwhile, her palms were still burning hot from touching it.
As the little boxers could not be washed together with the outerwear, Lin Chu had to handwash it yesterday, causing her to tremble as she did so. It caused such a huge psychological strain on her that she did not want to recall it. Lin Chu had no idea how she had managed to get through it.
She packed everything while blushing, pondering about whether or not Yan Beicheng’s had any nutritious food in his home. Since he had someone taking care of the household, his house was probably well-stocked. If he was lacking any ingredients, she could still buy them later. If she were to cook congee at her own home, it would be too late by the time she brought it over. After all, Lin Chu did not know what Yan Beicheng’s condition was.
With that, Lin Chu picked up her purse and hurriedly left with everything. Yan Beicheng’s house did not have a direct train and she was not really familiar with the area. So, she used an app to hail a taxi and let the driver navigate by himself.
...
Yan Beicheng boiled some water but did not pour it into the thermos. Instead, he dipped the thermometer into the kettle and took a look at the temperature. It was at the breaking point...
He hurriedly blew at the thermometer to cool it down, but before he could check if it was at a believable temperature, the doorbell rang.
Yan Beicheng answered the intercom but did not immediately open the door. Instead, he waited for another two minutes whilst holding down the button for the CCTV, watching Lin Chu’s every move.
Since the door was not opening, Lin Chu frowned and gave Zuo Qiu a call. “Mr. Zuo, I’m in front of Master Yan’s house. Is his address Ding City 23, Building 1, Unit 1601?”
