Chapter 314: The Fate of 'The Bridge' Part 5
While Chief Kylo was worried about what might have possibly happened to the Assembly Knights, both of the leaders of his two Brigades, Moei, and Marlon, finally sent Garvin and Friedrich retreating back to the Dream Village.
The duo wouldn't be called the Twin Earth and Nature Blade and be recognized as someone who can content against Magnus if they both work together for nothing.
No matter how Garvin and Friedrich cooperate together to beat their teamwork, they still found themselves helpless against Moei and Marlon.
After sending Garvin and Friedrich away, Moei and Marlon immediately retreated back to Chief Kylo.
"Chief Kylo, this is bad, we are losing the war!" Moei expressed.
"I know," Chief Kylo rolled his eyes. He can already see it even if Moei doesn't tell him about it.
"What should we do?" Marlon can't help asking.
"I…"
Just when Chief Kylo was about to make the decision to retreat, four streaking lights flew above their heads.
"The Assembly Knights!" Moei immediately recognized the four individuals who just arrived on the battlefield.
"That's strange, why does it seem like two of them are chasing after the other two," Marlon suddenly notices.
Whooosh!
In the next moment, a strong aura appeared as another streaking light flew out.
"Magnus?!" Chief Kylo recognizes.
"Those two people running away seems to be Maria and Christopher," Moei finally identified the two individuals.
"Don't tell me," Marlon looks at Chief Kylo.
"It seems like it wasn't only Wesley who betrayed us, but Maria and Christopher as well," Chief Kylo finally understood what exactly happened to the Assembly Knights. Maria and Christopher might have taken Patter and Lecter somewhere else using some sort of convincing reason with the intention of killing them in secret and then joining with the Green Horn City once they finally achieve their goal. Regretfully for Maria and Christopher, Magnus suddenly appeared which ultimately ruined their plans. In the end, the two traitors had no other choice but to run away.
"Hold it there!"
Magnus exclaimed loudly, which caused both Patter and Lecter to stop chasing after Maria and Christopher.
"Why?!" Patter voiced out.
"We almost got them!" Lecter complained.
"Look!" Magnus pointed at Friedrich and Garvin who came to rescue Maria and Christopher.
"That…" Patter quickly recognized Friedrich since he is the only person who can contend against Magnus in a one-on-one fight.
"Let's back away," Magnus ordered and head his way to where Chief Kylo is.
Patter and Lecter quickly followed.
…..
"It seems like you failed," Kayn looked at Maria. He didn't bother looking at Christopher since the only reason why the latter betrayed the Assembly of Freedom was that he had fallen victim to the Undead Apple.
"We greatly underestimated them," Maria shook his head.
"What do you mean?" Kayn was confused.
"Magnus only trusted a few people in the Assembly of Freedom. Aside from Chief Kylo, he only trusts Patter ad Lecter. Because of that, whenever he returns from his trip, he gives the majority of his loot to them,"
"They had a lot of powerful weapons, is that what you are telling me?"
"That's right… If only I knew that, I would have prepared more beforehand,"
"It's alright," Kayn finally understood. No matter how powerful one is, it is always troublesome to come face to face with individuals with a lot of powerful weapons. This was a case that he had experienced a lot of times personally as well, thus he understood how troublesome Maria must have felt when she came face to face with Patter and Lecter.
This type of individual is what is infamously called 'Overgeared'.
"Overgeared," Jericho sneered. He hates people who fight in that kind of manner the most. Abusing powerful weapons in order to defeat strategies, skills, and experience.
"It doesn't matter. With Maria and Christopher here, the war is in our favor," Kayn decided to set aside Maria's failure. In truth, he wasn't really expecting much from Maria. His only intention from her during this war is to join his side and fight against the Assembly of Freedom together. Maria's use would only show light in the future. As of this moment, she can do whatever her current capability allows her to achieve.
At the rear, Old Mayor George nodded at Eliam and Van to signal the duo to join with the rest. He already recovered more than half of his original strength, so he isn't worried about suddenly dying anymore.
With Eliam and Van returning to the group, almost the entire main fighting force of the Green Horn City has finally reunited, excluding Maria and the fourth squad of Green Horn Knights who still remain missing as they still have something important they have to do as of this moment.
Kayn, Gilbert, Jude, Charles, Jericho, Maria, Wesley, Christopher, Friedrich, Cedric, Roshan, Kimberly, Lilith, Natasha, Jackson, Carter, Cyril, Emmet, Miya, Amy, Eliam, and Van.
Twenty-two people against Chief Kylo, Magnus, Patter, Lecter, Moei, and Marlon.
In addition to that, there's still Chief Kash, Chief Harlem, and Chief Perceval, the three powerhouses from the Green Horn City's side.
Regardless of who is asked the question of who will win the war, they will always provide the same answer; the Green Horn City.
Even with Magnus, Patter, and Lecter finally joining the ranks of the Assembly of Freedom, the trio is still helpless to change the tides of war.
The loss of the Assembly of Freedom is already a given.
Chief Kylo and everyone from the Assembly of Freedom can already see this.
No matter what they do, they already lost.
If only they didn't lose the Kingmaker and Levitation Scepter, things would have played differently for them.
That was why Chief Kylo sent Magnus away. He was hoping the latter can find an item that can replace the Kingmaker and Levitation Scepter.
Unfortunately, Magnus failed, and in the end, they lost the war.
Chief Kylo can't help staring at Kayn full of hate in his eyes.
