The Soul System in the Apocalypse

Chapter 22: Clearing the Facility

Chapter 22: Clearing the Facility

Henry and Adam looked at Sarah strangely. They couldn't help but wonder how skilled she was in the area that she loved most. After all, it was just the area that she was forced to practice, she was already skilled enough to put aside several braggarts, then what about the medical area?

"Have you gotten any skill?" Henry asked after a moment of silence.

"Yes. I have gotten a healing skill." Sarah replied.

Henry's brows rose a little when he heard that. But, the thing that he wanted most was definitely to try how good the skill was. He had to know if it was reliable enough for him to stop purchasing the healing potions.

But, since they did not have a target at the moment, he could only put that aside for the moment. So, he turned around and walked away.

"Let us clear the area. We are going to use the facility as our base for the moment." Henry stated.

Adam and Sarah followed him. Since they could use this chance that they would be clearing the monsters to level up, then there was no problem if they were going to use the facility as their base.

As such, the group of four began their hunting again. If they met anyone, they would completely ignore them. The reason behind that was, Henry wasn't ready to start babysitting another person.

Instead, he was waiting to see if he could find another person who had already awakened. In that way, he would be able to get another person without much struggling.

After all, if he would have to stand on the side waiting for the person that he have tried to babysit, to kill enough monsters, he wouldn't be wasting his time that he could used to level up?

Henry suddenly felt to that, with the presence of the storm wolf, the efficiency that the energy in his body was increasing had drastically shot up. For that reason, he got excited.

He himself had seen that it had been difficult for him to level up, as compared to Adam. He had already killed many monsters, almost as twice as the number of monsters that Adam had killed in order to become a level 2 Rank O mutant warrior.

Henry was intending to see what would happen if the wolf managed to reach the second level. Since it was a creature that had been summoned by him using the SSS rank Summoner profession, then it was obvious that it was just difficult for it to level up.

With the combination of the two working at the same time, Henry believed that it would be quite easy for him to level up.

But as time went by, Henry began frowning. The reason behind this was simply because, even after he had killed over a hundred apocalyptic creatures, he had not even reached the third level.

As for Sarah and Adam, the two of them had already leveled up once each. Adam had managed to reach the third level, while Sarah had managed to reach the second level.

Soon, light begun setting in. The areas that had already been enveloped by darkness due to the lack of light, begun brightening up. This was an indication that dawn was already coming.

When Henry managed to reach the third level, it was already about 7:00 in the morning. But then, there was something that flabbergasted him. That was due to the fact that, he had leveled up twice.

But, he had only become a level 3 Warlock, and a level 2 summoner. Henry had never expected that leveling up of the two profession was quite different.

But all the same, he found something quite peculiar and advantageous to him. That was the fact that, as he leveled up in the summoner profession, the amount of energy in his body would increase.

Since summoners depended on their summoned creatures, they themselves only possessed a certain amount of energy, that was required for the next summon.

But, the energy in his body could actually be used by his mage path as well. For that reason, Henry decided to finally utilize the advantage that he possessed. Instead of simply utilizing a sword, he began utilizing the mage path as well.

But even as they progressed, Henry couldn't help but wonder why Adam had not received a reward after he got to the third level before him. After all, wasn't there a reward system? Or could it be that there was someone else that had already managed to reach level 3 before them?

The group had already taken some time to rest. For that reason, during this morning, they were full of energy as they continued hunting. The feeling of getting stronger was almost addictive.

When Sarah saw that Henry had begun utilizing fire magic, she was of course surprised. After all, she didn't know that Henry was actually a mage as well. But if that was the case, then didn't that mean that he possessed three professions?

As the light of the day began shining, finally Henry and the other survivors of the facility could finally see that the sky had been covered with dark clouds.

The air was definitely gloomy, as those with weak mental fortitude had already begun crying. Some had already lost hope after seeing the dead bodies that were sprawled all around the facility.

Several people had already started vomiting after seeing the bloody scene. This was definitely the first time that they were encountering something like this.

As for the security team, there were very few of them that were left alive, since the rest of them, they had been torn apart by the wolves and other wild animals that had charged into the facility.

It was also during this period that Henry and Adam finally realized that other than the metal department that they were in, there were different other areas that dealt in different things.

For example, there was a lab that was filled with different kind of specimens. The specimen obviously included several human body parts, and there were even full human bodies that had been placed inside there: inside preservative machines.

Currently, the changes that had occurred to the facility due to the attack of the wild animals was definitely great. For those who were remaining alive, they could see the changes for themselves.

As for danger of being attacked, the danger had been reduced to the minimal level by Henry, Adam, and Sarah, who had almost cleared all the wild animals that were present in the facility.

Now, the desolate facility that had encountered a catastrophe stood as a haunting relic of a once-functioning establishment. The scene was a chilling testament to the destructive forces that had ripped through its walls, leaving behind an eerie atmosphere of abandonment and ruin.

With several body parts that had been spread all over, this was definitely going to be a nightmare for several of the survivors. After all, seeing other humans being torn apart, that was something that very few people could withstand.

The facility's exterior showed signs of immense damage, with collapsed walls, shattered windows, and twisted metal framing. The structure leaned precariously, as if barely holding on to its former glory.

The remnants of a catastrophic event, a natural disaster, were scattered throughout the vicinity, further emphasizing the devastation that unfolded.

It was also during this moment that Henry and the others finally realized that there was something wrong. There were some cases where the walls had been broken, but all this while, they had not seen any apocalyptic creature that was capable of doing that.

Instead, all this while, they had been encountering ferocious creatures. Even though they were ferocious and could tear a human easily, the same couldn't be said about the walls.

Nonetheless, the destruction that had befallen the facility was not light at all. It wasn't just a matter of people that were present being killed, but even the facility itself had been devastated.

Halls and rooms lay in disarray, their contents strewn about haphazardly. Equipment and furniture were overturned or shattered, adding to the sense of chaos. Surfaces were covered in layers of dust and debris, undisturbed by any signs of life.

The atmosphere within the desolate facility was heavy with a sense of despair and loss. Silence prevailed, broken occasionally by the eerie echoes of dripping water or the disconcerting creaks and groans of those that have been Injured.

The air carried a distinct smell of blood, due to the large amount of blood that had been spilled from the bodies of both humans and the apocalyptic creatures that had attacked.

And surprisingly, there were even areas that fire had erupted. But, due to the previous emergency measures taken, these fires had been put off, but still, it had already caused destruction.

Burn marks scorched the walls, leaving behind a charred reminder of the destructive flames that once raged. With the mixture of blood that had splattered on the walls, this facility really looked no different from a horror scene.

At this moment, Henry and the other three had already gathered near the gate. They could see that several bodies that were wearing torn pieces of security uniform were on the ground.

As for the gate, it had been actually broken down. Even though the metal that had been used to form the gate was not destroyed, the walls that were holding the gate had been broken down.

It was also at this moment that Henry and the group wanted to know where they were. Even though they had spent a lot of time here, they didn't even have a chance to step out of the gate.

In order to make the follow up plans Henry had to know where they were. Even though it was dangerous for them to go out, they had to go nonetheless. Otherwise, were they going to spend all their lives here?

"Let's get going." Henry instructed before he finally stepped out of the gate, towards the forest that was waiting outside.
