In the afternoon, Qi Wu, Jiang Xuxu, and the others arrived at the rehearsal studio.
They had been informed by the staff to come here. Tan Song and Jiang Yiran were also in the classroom. Evidently, they were also told the same.
As the room was full of familiar faces, they quickly relaxed and sat together on the ground to chat.
Jiang Xuxu was woken up by more than a dozen alarms. Hence, as soon as she sat down, she started yawning. “What are we doing here?”
As soon as she finished speaking, Song Qi’s voice sounded from the PA speaker in the room. “Is everyone in their assigned rooms?”
“Today’s mission is to make sure you’re certain of your path and to get to know each other better. Later on, you can make a phone call to your family and friends to explain to them your resolution.”
Realization struck the contestants—it was just a heart-to-heart talk!
Jiang Yiran’s lips twitched. “Since when did Mr. Song start implementing emotional segments?”
“Who should I call?”
Jiang Xuxu curled up so that she could rest her chin on her knees, as she thought.
Meanwhile, Jin Si arrived at the Chaoqi Group office for the first time in a very long time. He went straight to the floor where his agency was located.
Along the way, the staff members who saw him looked at him with admiration, but no one dared to go up to him and ask for his autograph.
Jin Si had been in the industry for three years, but he had never signed anything for a fan.
The elevator doors soon opened. When Jin Si walked into the office, he saw Chang Xun working hard at his desk.
He raised his eyebrows. “You’re working hard.”
Hearing his voice, Chang Xun looked up with surprise in his eyes. “Did the sun rise from the west? Why are you here?”
“I was passing by.”
Jin Si sounded very calm and nonchalant as he took off his coat and placed it on the couch nearby. He walked over and saw the roadmap for Qi Wu’s acting career on Chang Xun’s desk.
Jin Si was puzzled.
“You’re planning out her career?”
For some reason, his voice turned icy, laced with a hint of emotion.
Chang Xun did not notice Jin Si’s unusual behavior and simply nodded. “Yes, I am.”
“Heh.” Jin Si sneered. “She was just dealing with a big scandal the other day, and you are already planning out her career.”
“How did you know that Qi Wu was involved in a scandal?”
As expected of the manager who had to deal with Jin Si for 3 years, Chang Xun instantly focused on the core of Jin Si’s statement.
He immediately started dissecting the situation. “I keep telling you to keep up a social media presence, but you constantly ignore me. However, over the past few days, you’ve posted twice, and all for Qi Wu!”
After saying that, Chang Xun solemnly continued, “Jin Si, I finally managed to convince Qi Wu to not waste her time. Don’t drag her down.”
Jin Si was speechless.
Wasting her time on who?
There was a strange look on his face as he asked, “What do you mean?”
At that moment, everyone watched as Qi Wu was the first person to make a call.
She went through her contact list and glanced at the name of the contact labeled “Debtholder” before calling Chang Xun. Jiang Xuxu impatiently called out. “Now, put it on speaker!”
Qi Wu obediently pressed the speakerphone button.
Tong Luo was worried.
Qi Wu did not call her sugar daddy, right? There was no way Qi Wu was that enraptured by him, right?
Chang Xun was still arguing with Jin Si when he suddenly noticed his phone vibrating on the table. The caller ID was Qi Wu.
Chang Xun was puzzled. “Why is Qi Wu calling me?”
Then, as Jin Si silently glared, Chang Xun answered the call. Perhaps it was because of Jin Si’s oppressive gaze, but Chang Xun actually put the call on speakerphone.
“Qi Wu, what’s wrong?”
“The production team asked me to call my family and friends. I want to tell you that I’ll work hard,” Qi Wu gently replied.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the phone, the two men who heard her had completely different reactions.
Chang Xun was surprised and touched as he exclaimed, “You’re finally agreeing with me! ”
Jin Si’s face darkened.
Why did she call Chang Xun?
Qi Wu’s brows furrowed as if she did not know what to do with Chang Xun. After a while, she sighed. “I’ll work hard, so don’t cry.”
Chang Xun was already fantasizing about how the sweet and obedient girl he knew was back, so he just kept humming in acknowledgment.
“Work hard. Everything else is just a distraction.”
As he knew the call would be recorded, Chang Xun did not mention Jin Si.
When everyone in the rehearsal studio heard Chang Xun’s audibly emotional voice, they felt embarrassed for him.
Other than Ke Lu, everyone recognized Chang Xun’s voice.
At first, they were surprised to find out Qi Wu knew Chang Xun, but they soon calmed down from the realization.
Just as Qi Wu was about to end the call, Jin Si, who had been silently listening this whole time, finally could not help chiming in.
“Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
Chang Xun froze in shock.
Then, with a trembling finger, he swiftly ended the call.
As Jin Si glared, Chang Xun felt like crying but could not muster a single tear. “Can you not do that? What if they recognized us?”
Jin Si pursed his lips and unhappily replied, “So be it then. Why is it a problem?”
Silence fell.
Chang Xun did not know what to say.
It seemed Jin Si had woken up on the wrong side of the bed again.
Given Jin Si’s status, everyone in the entertainment industry wanted to be associated with him. If they were lucky, they might be able to skyrocket to fame.
However, due to Jin Si’s personality, no one had the guts to do so. After all, his tongue was sharp enough to make enemies of everyone in the industry.
Even his diehard fans frantically begged for a way to shut him up.
Chang Xun tiredly said, “You want to get rid of her anyway. She has her own career now. After she pays off your debt, just part on good terms, okay?” Jin Si sneered. “She owes me more than she could ever repay.”
The call ended so abruptly that it took everyone a few seconds to realize what had happened.
Qi Wu held out the phone, innocently blinking as she said, “I’m done.”
Jiang Xuxu immediately stepped up to smooth things over. “All right. Who’s next?”
Jiang Yiran recalled the voice that suddenly chimed in before the call ended and muttered, “I feel like I’ve heard that voice before.’
Tong Luo silently nodded. It sounded familiar to her as well.
When she heard what Jiang Xuxu said, she looked up. “I’m next.”
Jiang Xuxu immediately turned around and asked, “Who are you going to call?”
After taking a deep breath, Tong Luo dialed a number as everyone watched.
A few seconds later, Qi Wu’s phone rang..
