Chapter 599: 593: Reforging Glory
Chapter 599: Chapter 593: Reforging Glory
“President, are you still accepting disciples?”
Donna Gregory mustered up the courage to ask, leading to a stir amongst the surrounding members, some of whom seemed eager to try their luck.
Noticing the sudden change in the atmosphere, David Jones cracked a slight smile.
As someone at the initial stage of a Flare IV Alchemist, just one step away from becoming a Senior Pharmacist, he had quite a good impression of the gentle silver-haired girl.
“I have no plans to take on any disciples before Rossetti graduates,” David Jones gently refused.
Rossetti’s talent was too extraordinary. He took on a disciple to deepen the relationship with her, not truly intending to train her into an outstanding Pharmacist.
Moreover, backed by the resources of his mentor’s faction, taking a disciple was not a matter for him alone to decide; he needed to seek his teacher’s approval in advance.
Upon hearing this, disappointment was hard to hide on Donna Gregory’s face.
She understood her own talent well enough to know that without sufficient pharmacy resources, becoming a Master Pharmacist would be the limit in her lifetime.
However, if she could become a disciple of the president, there might be a chance under his guidance to become a Grandmaster Pharmacist in the future. This would allow the Gregory family line to add a new page in their genealogy with her deeds recorded, perhaps even surpassing the main family to begin a new lineage with her at its head.
Seeing Donna Gregory’s unsuccessful attempt to become a disciple, Sean Wooley felt a complex sense of relief.
Had the president really agreed to Donna’s request, he would have certainly bowed his head in submission, chancing his future prospects.
As for losing face? How much was that worth?
Subsequently, under David Jones’s silent cue, Margaret Yule began a small meeting that lasted nearly an hour.
In the end, David Jones decided to focus the Purple Haze Club’s future efforts on the development of the Rosewood Mountain medicinal fields and on the cultivation of the members’ pharmacy skills.
“Today’s meeting is adjourned.”
As soon as David Jones finished speaking, the members left the villa one by one, attending to the club’s business.
Jade Bailey stood still for a moment, hesitating as if she wanted to speak, but in the end, she simply bowed her head and followed Donna Gregory out of the room.
When only Rossetti and Margaret Yule were left in the room, David Jones spoke, “You have been in charge of all affairs concerning the Purple Haze Club recently. Which members do you think are worth cultivating?”
“President, I think…”
David Jones cut off Margaret Yule mid-sentence, “Everyone has left now. Drop the formalities. We are old friends, just use my first name.”
Margaret Yule glanced at Rossetti and said something that silenced David Jones completely.
“If we are old friends, why didn’t you say a word before you left? I didn’t even know you had taken another disciple.”
Feeling the shift in David Jones’s emotions, Rossetti slowly lifted her head, for the first time acknowledging Margaret Yule with a serious look.
Her instincts told her that this beautiful yet seemingly weak woman harbored ulterior motives, as if hiding the same intentions as herself.
“That was an accident; I didn’t want it either,” David Jones stretched lazily, picked up the jade box in front of him, and decided to change the subject.
“I’ll take these three Heavenly Dragon Leaves. What do you think would be a suitable resource to reward Jade Bailey and Sean Wooley with?”
“Without your reputation as a deterrent, they wouldn’t even be able to enter the gates of Dragon Bamboo Island, let alone collect various beast taming resources on the island,” Margaret Yule replied.
Then, she shifted the tone of the conversation.
“Picking Heavenly Dragon Leaves is not difficult. What is challenging is locating them. There’s no need for too generous a reward. Just give each of them one Level V mesona.”
“Of course, if you have the time, guiding them for a day or two in alchemy would yield even better results,”
“Then I’ll just reward them with elixirs. I’m on the verge of a breakthrough recently and don’t have time to guide members in alchemy,” David Jones decided.
Upon hearing this, Margaret Yule couldn’t help but tease, “It seems the school rumors are true. To prepare for the national competition and restore the glory of Rosewood College as the number one in the Five Greats, senior David skipped all eight final exams, scoring zero on each and enraging Director Boris to the point of smashing a table in public.”
“Huh?” David Jones glanced at her as if looking at a fool.
“Alright, no more joking, I haven’t seen you in months. Let me guess, your Arcane Star must be about to break through to Class V now?”
From the moment they met, Margaret Yule observed David’s overwhelmingly strong Psychic Power and vitality and, half-serious, half-jokingly put forth her guess to confirm her speculation.
“I’ve already broken through to Class V Arcane Star. In two more days, you should be addressing me as a King-class powerhouse,” said David Jones with an odd expression.
“King-class powerhouse???”
Margaret Yule couldn’t help but widen her eyes.
Although she started the joke, using the King rank to fool someone seemed a bit insulting to one’s intelligence.
Did he really think she didn’t know that David’s Arcane Star was only at Class IV when the Beast Refining Tower opened? How much time had passed since then? Not even half a year!
“Alright, alright, a twenty-year-old King-class powerhouse.”
Margaret Yule didn’t take such jests seriously. She cheerfully patted David Jones’ shoulder and moved on to business.
“The national competition will start after the college entrance exams. Jackson Grant wants to join your team. What do you think?”
David Jones: “Jackson Grant?”
Seeing Margaret Yule nod, David Jones suddenly pictured a Frost Wolf in his mind, displaying its fierce fangs, snow-white fur, and exuding a biting chill.
The National Beast Taming College Championship comprises individual and team contests.
As the name suggests, the individual contest is a battle competition for Trainers acting alone, also known as the Crown Competition, open for registration to all Trainers under thirty from across the Flowery Kingdom, with an exceptionally brutal format.
The victorious ascend, the weak fall. The champion of the individual contest earns the title of Crown Champion, renowned across the world, becoming the undisputed number one Trainer (Youth), and also the goal David Jones had been dreaming of since becoming a Trainer.
It could be said that dark horses emerge in the Crown Competition.
Each year has its share of unknown but powerful contenders making a name for themselves in the National Crown Competition, drawing the attention and recruitment of top-tier forces.
Of course, while there are always dark horses, the Trainers who can claim the title of National Crown Competition champion are generally outstanding graduates of the Flowery Kingdom’s Big Five.
As for the full name of the team contest, it is the National College Teamwork Competition, only open to college students.
Each school can send a maximum of two teams to vie for the championship, with seven members per team. The team’s ranking will determine the national college rankings for the following year.
If a student can lead a team to defeat the three-time reigning champions from Peony College and take first place in the Teamwork Competition, the leaders of Rosewood College will surely not be stingy with rewards. That’s also why Jackson Grant gave up some of the benefits of Dragon Bamboo Island and shared them with the Purple Haze Club.
After all, it’s for the sake of pursuing greater benefits!!!
Now, which student of Rosewood College doesn’t know that to secure the first place in the national teamwork competition and restore the glory of Rosewood, they must be led by David Jones, ranked first in the Buddha List.
Compared to David Jones, Fred Hoyle, who was formerly ranked first in the Myrtle List, is simply a younger brother!
“Sure, I can give him a spot,” David Jones said casually.
With a Level V, upper-level apex Frost Wolf alone, Jackson Grant has the qualifications to become his teammate.
