Chapter 190 Reflection
Sauros probably could have stopped the rock from turning into sand. Still, his reaction speed was messed up thanks to the surprise, so the group was suddenly obstructed by a wall of sand. Aion had many things to say about that, but he had to ignore it because the ax general approached and swung his ax.
Aion used his shield to block the attack, but the impact pushed his body away, and he felt like his left arm was being ripped off, and it was pushed to his back, leaving him wide open. With the enemy's power to repel attacks, Aion couldn't put any force behind his attacks or defenses. Otherwise, they would be used against him.
The ax general swung his weapon again, but since he was too into full swings, Aion managed to move his sword toward his face. When the tip of the weapon almost pierced the enemy's eyes, Aion noticed that the enemy had stopped moving, and he stopped as well since that was too suspicious.
Seris touched Aion's shoulder, and when the enemy began to move his ax again, Aion lowered his stance before raising his legs and then kicking the enemy's chest again. This time, he landed one hundred meters away…
"The power of Reflection worked… he attacked when it worked on the first time, so why he stopped on that other time?" Aion thought.
Aion trained his legs well, so their power to absorb impacts was quite high. He wasn't wounded after being pushed away way more than expected. In any case, it seemed that the enemy's mutation had some quirks…
"It seems that he is the worst type of the enemy for physical types…" Sauros said when he reached Aion.
"Doesn't that make him invincible?" Seris asked.
"Based on Aion's expression, I would say that isn't the case… Still, he is way too dangerous. One wrong move, and he will kill us with our best attacks," Sauros said.
Aion couldn't agree more… he needed some extra time to think of how that skill worked based on the enemy's actions, but he didn't have time for that. The ax general began to charge again like a mad bull… To prevent further problems, it would be better to take him down as soon as possible. Aion had the right tools for that, but it was hard to say if he could overcome that power with raw strength.
In the end, Aion just raised his shield and didn't put any strength behind it when the enemy attacked again. The ax general swung down his ax to prevent Aion from using that to move away. His entire body vibrated when the attack was blocked and when he began to be pushed downward. Aion realized it… the enemy couldn't keep that skill active at all times.
Aion looked beyond the enemy and saw the two other generals keeping their distance. Still, they were close enough to see if Aion tried to pull off anything fancy… he had to be patient, like Sauros said. That comes with a price, though. The ax general quickly turned around and kicked his right arm. All of the broken bones and damaged muscles made Aion flinch and sweat cold due to the pain.
Still, when the enemy tried to attack Aion's head with his axe during that short window of time, a sharp rock suddenly hit his face and then pierced his right cheek a bit. Aion used that chance to run away since attacking now wouldn't do any good.
"You will make him even madder… anyway, how you made a simple rock do that?" Aion asked when he caught up with the others.
"I used my power to accelerate the rock when I threw it," Seris explained.
She really didn't hesitate to reveal her trick. In a sense, Seris was great, but she was quite naive as well… Aion's prediction was really on point. Due to his anger, the ax general stopped holding back and then charged at Seris. Before anyone could react, he tried to split her in half while swinging his weapon. The chainmail that she was wearing and her clothes were split in half, Sauros and her watched that in absolute shock… she was dead.
Still, much to their surprise, the attack only cut the clothes and the chainmail, and while she was going to have a hard time fighting without letting her clothes fall off, she was saved, and that was what mattered.
From those two perspectives, Aion and the general got surprised since they took a while to react. Still, Aion recovered first and then grabbed the enemy's axe before he kicked the enemy's face with all his might. He tried to take the weapon away, but it didn't work. The enemy was pushed away, though. Aion could have shocked the enemy with his magic or cut off his arm. Still, he decided to wait until Sauros decided the best moment to attack.
The group began to run again. Thanks to the previous surprise of the attack that failed, the generals didn't charge blindly. That would give them extra time to find the perfect place to attack… Sauros looked around, and he knew that the other pursuers were long gone and they just needed a few more minutes. Then he finally realized that Aion was breathing roughly while holding his chest… some liquid was dropping from his cloak as well… Sauros frowned while looking at that, his cloak was fine, so it didn't make sense that he had been injured there.
"What happened to you? When did you get hit?" Sauros asked.
"It is just a scratch, and I am closing the wound with my magic," Aion said. "Anyway, choose a place to attack them already because I am getting tired of this."
Sauros nodded. It wasn't a good idea to fight when they didn't know what the other two could do, but they didn't have time. Eventually, the other generals will chase them as well.
