Chapter 302 Politics
Aion had killed a lot of the criminals and assassins of that country, so he couldn't help but frown when he heard that a lot of the survivors were trying to leave the country using pirates.
"Oh, man… and I was just thinking of getting ships without paying for them," Aion thought while he was flying toward the ports of the county.
Aion's brothers will have a lot of work ahead of them since pirates could use those ports freely. In any case, Aion also got the Intel when the pirates usually would come and go… they were pieces of shit, but the criminals that he freed knew their shit. Aion wondered why they weren't killed due to that alone, but he also wondered if he should pay them to work for him. He had enough power to rule a country, but he also needed Intel since he could only do so much by himself.
In any case, finding those guys and getting rid of them was easy, and it just took Aion some time to cross both coasts of that country. In the end, he made up his mind and hired those criminals to gather Intel for him… they would warn him if anyone was planning to do anything against his brothers or even him.
After two weeks, Aion went to his brothers and then transported everyone on an earth platform. Each one of them had brought ten people with them while the others that were going to help them would travel on foot. The plan was just to let them be there for one month to make things run by themselves and without their direct intervention.
After leaving them in the right places, Aion also spent some time making the population understand that they were their new lords and anyone causing problems would suffer dire consequences. Aion didn't like that, but to make sure that everyone would understand that, he left the bodies of the assassins at the ports for people to find them. Hundreds of them… with a holes in their heads. Rumors should have spread enough for them to understand the message.
"I guess this is all… this month felt longer than my previous trip," Aion said while massaging his neck. "I will check things soon enough since I will have to investigate the fallen capital."
"Thanks for your hard work," Henri said while he was setting up his office in the mansion that once belonged to the woman that Arlana took over her body. "I will try not to disappoint you."
"Why are you being humble all of a sudden?" Aion frowned. "You aren't the type to get carried away, but such words are weird coming from you."
"Well, it just feels like you have gotten too far ahead compared to us," Henri said and then sighed. "It is kind of embarrassing to have a little brother that surpasses you in all aspects."
"Not in all aspects, and I am still single," Aion said, showing a proud smile.
"I didn't expect it, but you actually take pride in that, huh," Henri shook his head while laughing. "I guess I will take pride as well that my wife is the most gorgeous woman in the kingdom. You can bite your nails out of jealousy."
"Yeah, right," Aion said and then turned. "See you later."
Aion left the city and flew as fast as possible back home. Unfortunately, he had to stop and talk with Vangel again. He made a lot of decisions by himself, and while it was annoying, he still had to respond to Vangel. Respecting authorities was a pain… but he had to since he had to consider how his actions would affect others close to him.
"You have arrived," Vangel said when Aion entered the throne room.
Laxus was there, and it seemed like he had sorted out things for him. Still, he couldn't hide his surprise since he knew that his son had crossed around three thousand kilometers in a day and a half. That was nothing. Aion just had to fly at eighty kilometers per hour. He could be faster but not efficient with his current magic power.
"We are thankful for your hard work, Aion," Vangel said while scratching your chin. "Your actions will benefit the kingdom greatly, but they will also cause some problems. Rumors about you are spreading like wildfire."
"If something happens because of that, you can just tell me, and I will deal with the problem," Aion declared, unfazed. "It should be clear by now that I can deal with most problems."
"True, it seems like that is the case when it comes to militaristic issues, " Vangel said. "However, when it comes to economic ones, there isn't much that you can do."
"My brothers just got a shit ton of territory that they can do what they want with it. How is the economy a problem?" Aion asked while frowning.
"Aion…" Laxus said and then sighed.
"It is fine. I appreciate his honesty. There is no need to pretend that we get along, and it is better than imagining each other scheming things," Vangel shook his hand. "Well, when it comes to agriculture and mining, we won't face many problems with the territories that you obtained, but there are other things that we need that can only be found in other countries. These are mainly products that people get from dungeon monsters. Other countries might try to put restrictions while negotiating with us out of fear since you just conquered a country by yourself, and doing business with us might strengthen us even further."
Hah, politics… there was no other thing that bothered Aion the most. People always trying to do things to get leverage over others for their own selfish purposes. He wondered if he always messed up his head, and or he just realized that since he could do something about it, like killing assholes. In any case, he was running out of patience against those people.
