Chapter 305 Malon
The mirrors weren't reflecting anything aside from the environment… so that made Aion frown since it would be hard to pick the right one.
"That incident created three… or maybe with the current one, four futures," Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "One of them is the one that Arlana mentioned, but which one?"
When Aion thought of that, the relics began to glow and eventually fired a beam of light toward the third mirror. It seemed that they answered his thoughts, but that was suspicious since it was too easy.
In any case, Aion decided to cross it, and he didn't feel anything when that happened, but when he turned around, the mirrors were no longer there.
"I guess it worked… now I need to confirm a few things like what the me from this timeline is doing," Aion thought and then began to fly toward the East.
After two hours, Aion confirmed that the fallen capital was empty. However, he still found signs of a great fire… it was on the same spot he had left the bodies of the enemies he had defeated when he freed Maisie and Darina.
"This is a bad sign…" Aion thought while he hesitated in checking the interior. "I suppose it will be better to just check the enemy's country to see if I went to kill them all."
Aion increases his speed again while wondering if something weird would happen if he found himself… it might happen if they look at each other. Also, thanks to that kind of thought, Aion wondered if he might face himself… if timelines existed, maybe one of them would want to take his place in that one. That was weird but possible.
After a few more hours, Aion managed to find the first city that he invaded in the distance… the place was covered in smoke while burning all over. It looked like he arrived in the morning after his attack.
"I guess this means that I need to keep more focus when using the relics or maybe that I can't change something that already happened," Aion thought when he saw numerous parts of the walls that had been destroyed by arrows, magic, spear, and sword attacks. "My death knights were unleashed here and spread chaos and terror… if I tried to prevent this, I would have only created another timeline."
When Aion approached, he took a dark cloak from his inventory and covered his body before landing on the wall… he regretted being that curious. He saw countless corpses around the city and on the streets, and some couldn't even be called corpses anymore but chunks of flesh. That Aion didn't spare women or even children…
"I don't need to confirm anything else…" Aion thought while having a hard time looking at his own actions if he had faced a different outcome once he returned from his work trip.
A couple of hours later, Aion found the place where he created the mirrors, and he wondered if he should contact Arlanda in that timeline. It probably wasn't a good idea… who knows what kind of Arlanda he could contact. Probably not the same one.
"Still, she has the knowledge of some timelines, and I wonder how she was able to obtain it…" Aion rubbed his chin thoughtfully while grabbing the relics. "I should be careful while dealing with her since she might lead me to a future that is only convenient for her."
Once the mirror appeared, Aion frowned since he thought that a lot more would show up… that could mean that he couldn't move from other timelines without going back to his own first. In any case, something unexpected happened when he crossed the mirror… he was enveloped by light, and then he felt his body getting strangely lighter. To the point that he didn't feel like he was on his body anymore…
Eventually, Aion opened his eyes and then found himself in an unknown room staring at an unknown ceiling.
"What the hell is going on…" Aion thought.
His vision was starting to lighten and gradually revealed a simple wooden ceiling, his vision was getting used to it until he decided to sit down, but he failed. His body moved only a little later, and he got up. Aion had no control over it…
Aion's vision improved a bit more, and then he saw himself in the mirror, a young boy with messy light brown hair and eyes of the same color. While feeling the sleepiness resisting, he ran his fingers through his hair as if itching and then looked at his bedroom window, yawning a little later.
After some time, Aion saw his body leaving the room and quickly found a staircase. He came down the stairs of his room after picking some items and wearing a shirt with an iron breastplate and a bracelet on his right arm, simple brown pants with leather boots.
He yawned as he descended the stairs, and before he reached the end, he heard the sounds of people attacking as they shouted in unison.
"Hah!"
"Hah!"
"Hah!"
Stopping on the last step of the staircase, the boy saw other young people training while an adult man with dark red hair and dark brown eyes watched them with a serious and rigid look. A little while later, the man noticed the boy who had arrived and turned towards him.
"Finally, you are awake, Malon. Good morning." the red-haired man said.
"Good morning, Dad."
Malon… that Malon. Aion was shocked when he realized what was going on. He was seeing the past of that guy. Was it because he was using the relics? Aion also wondered if Arlana knew that such a thing would happen… he thought that he would only confirm the future that she mentioned. In any case, looking into the past might be helpful. He only wanted that it wouldn't take too much of his time…
Malon spoke with a smile on his face trying to hide some nervousness.
"Hurry up, the boys have already started training. Go get your sword."
"Actually, Dad..." Malon hesitated while showing a smile.
"What's the problem?" Malon's father frowned.
"Ailen asked me to go hunting. Can we train after we get back?" Malon asked after forcing a smile.
Malon spoke a little nervously while in response, his father just stared with the same serious expression. Aion watched all that like he was Malon, but he didn't feel anything. He could only hear and see, which was more than enough considering that Malon was way too meek, and that made him feel creeped out, considering that he grew to become a lot more somber.
"Go, but come back soon. We have to talk about what I gave you yesterday, don't miss it..." Malon's father said and then turned.
He spoke as he turned to watch the young men training. Malon took his hand to his neck, where he managed to pull a rope that showed him a silver ring being held by it.
"Thanks, dad. I promise to be back soon." Malon smiled.
"All right," Malon's father said.
